- The Joachim storm hit the french coasts and Great Britain a few hours later on Dec. 16th, 2011. The storm caused a cargo ship, the TK Bremen, to run aground on the beach at Erdeven, near Lorient in France. These images are filmed by Jean-René Keruzoré (Air Vide et Eau). This video is incredible.

There is something about grey skies and a grey ferocious sea that captures my imagination; so fiercely beautiful.
This film is awesome. I feel very frightened if I imagine myself trapped in the lighthouse, with the waves crashing around me, with no way of escaping. We should always treat the sea with respect. We think we are in charge, but it is clear that we are not.
I always think of taking LSD, and sitting at the top of a lighthouse like this at night in a terrible storm.
As man we dominate over every living thing, Insect, animal and man, but only one thing that dominates all of that and that's mother nature nothing more powerful then that.
I have a huge Respect for the Sea....this is an amazing video!
Don't know what to say, simply spectacular!
Incredible as the storm pics are, what I find incredible is that someone went out in the storm to film it!
Que bom que alguém teve essa iniciativa ,imagens perfeitas
Thanks for this! Very good
absolutely amazing .......and beautiful!
How these structures remain standing escapes me.
Also, how the hell were they built!!!! ??
Agree! I went looking on YT for that answer. The earliest was wooden & was destroyed in a huge storm with the designer in it. So the next design was like a corkscrew, more sturdy. Interesting info will come back with the link.
AL K OMG! Same!
They're built out of large granite blocks shaped like jigsaw puzzle pieces. The blocks are connected together like a puzzle and cannot be undone. The mortar used is special, as it hardens when wet.
Weight alone keeps them in place, just like the rocks they're built upon
enjoyed watching this video. It creeps me out at the same time.
That coastline would be intimidating on a calm day, this is just insane and mesmerizing.
thi is my country, my land, my heart!
Even though every second is hit by the waves, it still doesn't waver, greetings from Indonesia.
So relaxing!
De très belles images. Très impressionnant. Quel bo document. J'aimerais vivre dans un phare et subir une tempête. Ça doit être impressionnant ... Voire flippant même ......
WOW! so beautiful!
AWESOME! WOW, HOW EPIC ...
Amazing Video!
Great video. Video and theme music makes me think of the Stephen King thriller - Storm of the Century and the demise of the lighthouse.
Omg!!!! Watching this terrifies me and thrills me!!! Amazing.
Kat Kenobi I hear you. It's amazing there all still standing.
COMO LOGRAN QUE SE MANTEGAN DE PIE,INCREIBLE!!
great scenes. like!
Que lugar incrível amo a idéia de estar num lugar deste será top
This is so cool!
I'd love to spend a night or two during a storm in this place. Dunno why, but I would.
I agree.
+DRTMaverick 24 hrs is just enough.
DRTMaverick yup
DRTMaverick .....me too. But just one night would be good. And I'll need WIFI and pizza. Thank you.
I’d love it, I think?. Be an experience anyway
so beautiful
incredible images...
I loved that churches lighthouses
How they managed to build these, while the sea still battered the rocks and such,is just awe inspiring.
Kirsten Richards A dramatisation of the building of the Bell Rock Lighthouse in Scotland is available to watch. Unfortunately, I've only found some annoying footage of the drama which has been cut up and narrated over. The original drama is part of "Seven Wonders of the Industrial World' series. Here's the bastardised version. Why they've done this, I don't know. Completely unnecessary and takes a lot away from the impact the building of the Bell Rock lighthouse had on people's lives. /watch?v=1kG3D1tjgqY

I've seen the original - its great. Perhaps they edited it so it didn't get banned.
Does someone actually stay in those lighthouses full time? Can you imagine how terrifying that has to be at night, in a storm, while pitch black outside!
Nice pics
If it is a manned lighthouse serious bravery as far as I'm concerned
it is
@@dwikx French lighthouse keepers nickamed the Ar Men lighhouse The Hell of Hellls". . It was hell to build it and it was hell to live in. Look for Ar Men in the French Wikipedia (not in the English one) and copy paste the text iin Google translator
beautyful light house ⛵🏰
I would kill to live in one of these places.
Me too~~~
Quelle beauté.
Frightening. That wave almost reached the top of the lighthouse. I would imagine with the broken windows they would have to be replaced with something much stronger?
if i was in there i'd be so scared that the waves would push the building over... or break it...
which lighthouse is the first one?
Very cool!
😱😱 amazing
Someone should sound record what it sounds like from the inside.
MAGNIFICENTLY SCARY !
The off-shore lighthouse... symbolical, evocative and luring. A mere refuge against the powerful and frightening force of the sea that is both the symbol of the unconscious and the emotions. The building itself is the perfect symbol of individual human psyche, rising from the deep, dark centre of the unconscious, its light the light of consciousness illuminating the chaos, where existence excludes all other life except the ghostly cry of seagulls.
So they stuck this thing to rock before the ocean was there? Or they built it between waves?
I love this exotic weather.
I really want to live inside it🙂
How strong is the first lighthouse to stand the trementuous force of the ocean?
comment ils ont construis et comment ca tient ?
How were they even able to build these things?
this goes out to Gtrick64 I was thinking the very same thing with such a rugged terrain it is not even a flat surface to get all the building material out there I am a brick mason by trade so now you have to build a foundation or the rock itself could be there you have to get all the mortar the brick this carefully and so forth and does anybody know what year this particular Lighthouse was built and one more thing I always thought that the lighthouses
+John Tuttobene I always thought that they were built closer to shore but after further review of the video you would almost have to go out that far because of the terrain if you build it closer to shore you would defeat the purpose of it because of the jagged rock out further into the ocean but I do have to say this was a very mesmerizing video to say the least I do have to say another thing that the craftsmanship of earlier times is way more creative then the buildings and structures of today I mean just to off the top of my head shame that I work on Bridges would have to be the Brooklyn in the Golden Gate bridges we're definitely way ahead of their time to say the least
+John Tuttobene and one more thing would it be safe touche that this storm was equivalent 2 the Nor'easter storm that was portrayed in the movie call The Perfect Storm where three different types of weather patterns collided to make a super storm would it be safe to say that this is the same type of storm
You said it for me.
right?!?!? plus how are they still standing?
How on Earth do they withstand such forces?!
Awesomely terrifying.
Comment cetais a linterieur quand les vagues sont fortes
That's a little scary, yet beautiful at the same time. Did any of the lighthouses come down? I can't imagine some of the older ones were designed to take this kind of beating.
Considering the fact that they were deliberately built on storm-laden seas more than a hundred years ago, well... you get the idea.
shananagans5 stephensons bell rock is two hundred plus years old
How do they build them all the way out there ? It always amazes me ,and they were built a long time ago !
Always wondered this too
Como hicieron para construir un faro ahí?
Amazing o do they stand?
thts ammmmmazing
How does someone build a lighthouse in an area like that even during non-winter months? Wouldn't the concrete would have to completely dry for 3-5years without anything beating on it? The tide must have risen a lot since these lighthouses were built.
how to lighting
Imagine being in the light house during the storm
I want to work on any of this light-towers!!
How its was built? With HANDS! SOME NEW with Steel & concrete.
deve ser emocionante trabalhar de faroleiro ai hem.
Wow!
Surprised how those lighthouses don't topple over.
Why do people always insist on adding music to epic videos like this? It honestly detracts from the sound of the storm. -.-
I suspect that the sound of the storm was also added.
How was it even built there to begin with tho
How did they build those lighthouses?
With difficulty! Seriously, they had a construction crew working on the site, often living on a temporary structure or boat and they worked in the few weeks of calm weather in the summer. When the autumn storms came they left and didn't come back until the following year. So it could be a long process before the lighthouse was finished and ready to be manned.
Wow
Nice
wow
And I thought Tillamook Rock Lighthouse was extreme
those fish must have a headache.
Depressing
Never, never subscribe to any channel who begs for it.
Scary howed u film this and not help the keeper if he was in there????
"Don't forget your life-line and life-vest when you go out hang the laundry, darling!"
In that kind of weather and seas, they must take the clothes outside to let them wash and hang them inside to dry!
The Lord is my fortress... He is my light... And on the Rock I stand...
Lighthouse represents us as children of God, being a light even in the storms and darkness... We lead other vessels safely to harbor(Jesus).
