Locktite brother. Basically every brand and every price ive had problems like this. My fastball hasn’t had these issues. Just needs tightened with locktite
Tbf in EVERY SINGLE knife I've ever bought whether a $10 or $300 the first thing I do is take the fuckin clip screws out and blue loctite them back in. I've done enough beating on stuff in the real world to trust "it should just work if it's made right" it's not a hard thing to do and makes even the cheapest clips as reliable as the most expensive
For starters, seeing as how you were "playing" with the already loose pocket clip, I'm not at all surprised that you lost the screw holding it on, however loose it was. Secondly, that model of backspacer is not polymer, it's aluminum; the default backspacer is GFN (Glass Filled Nylon). I do like your customized choice of the topo map laserwork on the blade, it hints at the Leatherman Topo blade though the topo laserwork on the blade of the Leatherman Topo is much more defined than the laserwork on the Gerber's. I do concur though, thumb jimping on the top of the blade would've been great and a finger choil as well. But honestly, I'd really liked the Fastball a lot better had it been a bit larger & thicker on both the blade and body.
Looks pretty nice. A little blue Locktite goes a long ways bro. I do think one area that they missed on is a finger choil. Would have made a pretty cool addition. Thanks for the review.
Also stopped carrying my Fastball a few months ago because one of the pocket clip screws fell out and I didn't notice. :) Been too lazy to get a replacement. Similar experience with the flipper as you, wish it was a little easier/smoother. I didn't mind too much though because my only other experience with a manual flipper was a copper Kershaw Mini Natrix which was much more difficult to flip. I did enjoy carrying it, in pocket it's much nicer than the Tenacious that I've carried the most.
Buddy lost two screws and can't keep a pocket clip on a folding knife I don't think this guy's intelligent enough to know the difference between steels
It would work pretty good in self defense you could slice someone up it I’d kinda like the new Spyderco Canis and it was designed by self defense specialist
No need to regret! The Fastball is great EDC blade it deploys fast, retains an edge, and has a custom look, basically all you need in a knife. Plus, If the the pocket clip comes loose, just put Locktite and it's good as new!
Though this reply is two months after the fact but the Gerber Fastball is a great little EDC knife, granted, the type of blade you chose determines what uses it will be good best used for. While the cleaver blade isn't a "stabbing blade" it can nonetheless be utilized in a defensive manner of slashing. As has been mentioned, just make sure you use Loctite to secure the screws but be aware of the type of Loctite you use, one type will lock the screws and is next to impossible to remove, the other will allow removal with some TLC and effort.

She got a few blade kisses but I had her name printed on one side & her nickname printed on the other. I'm going to send her this video to tell her about lock tight as I forgot about it the last time we met up. Thank you for refreshing my memory & the lock tight advice.

The screws are T6! And like some people mentioned in the comments, use some Locktite, it definitely helps

I bought the fastball with a cleaver blade and broke the clip in like 10 minutes of having it. Really cool knife but the clip is absolute garbage.
