I saw Zakk playing one of these with Ozzy at a show in Melbourne Australia. From memory it had the bullseye finish, and a Floyd Rose. He tossed the guitar into the crowd after the encore. There was a bit of a scuffle, but security stepped in and escorted the guy out safely with his new axe.
I was at that gig, think it got given to the kid at the bottom of the scrap that was bleeding from his head? I remember ozzy looking disappointed with zakk & Michael bordin smacking him on the bum with his drumsticks 😂
The Georgia Ape Drape. Mississippi Mud Flap. Texas Tailgate. Alabama Rama Tama. The Carolina Cape. The FloRider. I know I’m missing one here somewhere.
IMO - That shoulda have had an explorer or V headstock. It SURPRISES me that we have yet to see an Explorer / SG body hybrid produced. I did a mockup in photoshop, with a KL style headstock shape - The Sexplorer, looks Killer. EMG for the WIN. ;)
Back in 2010 a very good friend of mine was a Zakk Wylde Fanatic and had every Signature Guitar Zakk played while with Gibson and they were MINT and hey made custom displays (Shadow Boxes) and they were hung on the wall in his climate controled Studio built in his basement. He had a couple of these "SGVs" that he ordered from a shop here in Michigan that was a Gibson Dealer. He had the Gun Metal Grey and a White one also, I'm not sure if it was Alpine White or Polaris White but he bought them to play and gig which always had people talking about these weird SG mixed with a Flying V guitars, most people thought they were Chibsons because they never seen them before without the graphics but he had all the paperwork and case candy to prove they were legit. I never seen the original Hard Case that they came with so I don't know if they had the Zakk Logo on them as he always had heavy duty travel cases made for the guitars he traveled to play gigs. Unfortunately he passed away in 2011 and his Mother and Wife battled over his possesions and the Guitar collection was auctioned off per Family Court Orders. Some guy in Arizona bought all his guitars and equipment for a steal in my opinion. There was no will and he didn't have any kids with his wife and his Mother was a control freak so it got messy. I was mad because the guy got my buddys Marshall 1969 Model 1959 Super Lead 100 Watt Head (worth big $$$)and several 5150 III 100 Watt Head units plus some killer old Orange amps. I heard the guy who bought everything sold most of the Zakk Guitars to a collector in the UK which sucks because that stuff deserved to be here in the USA not in some hoarders collection in England (I can see the guitars being wrecked in that climate). So I believe there are atleast 2 colors of the SGV and maybe a few more. They don't come up for sale often so I would hold on to that one if I were you Austin.
Fun fact; Gibson actually made the first one in the 90's for a NAMM show display piece. Jim Peterik (Ides of March, Survivor) purchased it and has it in his collection. When Gibson approached Zakk for another signature guitar, he said that he wanted a SG/V combo thinking it was his original idea/design. Gibson told him that they had done one before and was willing to make it for him. He didn't believe them, so Gibson asked Jim for a photo to prove they had already made one before.
I had a Fender strat. that had such bad fret sprout. that the high E string got caught on the fret. when I was doing some string bending. at first I thought I broke a string. but upon closer inspection I noticed the string was cought on the fret. I was sorta mad but also got a laugh out of it at the same time. that was definitely one of the worst cases of fret sprout I have ever seen. the string getting caught on the fret nib gap reminded of that.
8:41 The horns on the SG part of this guitar are DEFINITELY exaggerated or more offset than normal! Because, on regular SG’s, the horn ARE offset a lil bit. They are not the same length, like some people believe!
I had his Epiphone bullseye and currently have an Epiphone Black Beauty. They're both junk compared to the Gibson's I have owned but I don't think a 3k Gibson is worth it now. Imo if you want best bang for the buck get anything made in Mexico from Fender, EVH or Indonesia Schecter. Esp LTD 256 is also much better for 500 USD. Don't buy Chinese crap
@@garycastronova7939 If I recall correctly, some of the early Bullseyes were Korean made. I had an 02 Epi LP Custom that was a phenomenal 300 dollar guitar. I’d never pay some of these new asking prices though.
Serious Question: Why does it seem like Gibson in particular seems to have issues with glue … like the headstock and the frets? None of my non-Gibson’s have a single issue with joints becoming misaligned or frets over extending the fretboard… and yet this example here we see all of the above. Odd, no?
The first one was a gift from Dime called the Dean muddy bullseye. Dean called the model the Split tail. He moved it to Gibson and now Wylde Audio calls it the Warhammer with a few more pointy aspects. Dean still makes the Split Tail. Not sure how that works exactly, Dean has questionable business practices. Not sure if Gibson could legally still make that
Joe Marquis, at Broad street music west side of Columbus made a prototype to show Gibson before 1988. I played it, it hung above a doorway in the music store. He was at the time the nearest authorized Gibson repair man. He told be G wanted nothing to do with it like the log. I guess they changed their mind huh ?
I also was at ozz fest and saw Zack play this style and his new brand. Been 2 12 of them ozz fest that is. Not my style but it's different. I thought that was you Trogly on the whammy. Sounds good on the distortion. Thanx Trogly good show.
I love it! Anything that goes against traditional styles is always cool to own and play. Too many “cookie cutter” styles running off the assembly lines.
@@Trog I have a 08 Traditional it’s a good Les Paul a couple years before the real crazy stuff lol. It’s basically a Standard by today standards it’s like a 50s Standard

Always making excuses for the poor build quality, poor paint, poor finishing etc... these are still just excuses. Just say it how it is. USED, WORN, and AGING Disgracefully!
That's such a Wylde looking guitar! Looks comfortable to play sitting which is always first thing I look at because I'm unable to play standing. I would love to own something like that but I own an SG so I already got something like that I guess but you can never own enough guitars right? 😆
Having recently discovered that the Flying V was embraced by Blues cats like Lonnie Mack an Albert King long before it became a hard rock or metal body shape I wouldn't be quick to dismiss this body shape as being durable at a jazz gig. I just want to know why it didn't include the circles in the finnish, Zakk's trademark.
Is it that difficult to use a backplate with a battery access door? These guitars are costing thousand of dollars, and you need to remove hardware to swap a dead 9v battery.

Gibson should have used a Dean headstock as a way to settle their beef with Dean using their body shapes 😂
@@chris_2714 good one .. or, at least their split head 'Moderne' headstock.
And Zakk actually perfected it with his wylde audio's Warhammer. The best version of all of these Gibson or Dean
An Explorer/SG hybrid would look similar to a Dean ML. The Dimebag guitars.

About the only way they could have made it more weird would be to have an Explorer style headstock.
Was never a EMG guy, but they definitely suit the guitar
I have a Charvel Charvette with EMG pick-ups and I like them. but I have never tried the active EMGs.
10K is nuts but I can see it with him not being with Gibson anymore and this being a special finish .. cool guitar for metal
FYI, the FIRST one, the Bullseye, was ordered by Dimebag as a gift for Zakk, a Gibson because Zakk was a Gibson endorsement player.

I've only ever seen Zaak Wylde play those.
The only thing similar were Kerry Kings Beast V's and he's the only one playing them too

I hate those fret nibs with a passion. Had to return two Flying V's to Gibson, because both guitars were not fit for purpose.
I know it's generally considered sacrilege to stick EMG's in a Gibson but those are really fun pups to play.

What’s bad is I drew something real similar to that when I was like 16. It was closer to an RG/V than an SG/V though.
