Hello Luiza. Thank you for your comment. Yes it's crazy how much South America don't know about French Guiana haha I traveled a lot around the continent, and people are always confused when you say you are from French Guiana haha Thank you so much, and you have also a really beautiful and rich culture, I spent some time in brazil last year, I really loved it :) Take care !

Thank you so much for this video. I am Haitian and I have a lot of family that lives here, but I have never gone to visit. I always wondered what it looked like there. .
This is the best video I've seen about French Guiana, not much quality info about it online. I cant really understand this, its only 250k people, seems like France could solve their problem with a pretty small investment (small in terms of government spending) and sending over some officials and people from France to setup hospitals, police stations and also train and hire locals at state run facilities etc. 250k is a small town equivalent. Also send some military personel, seems like a pretty strategic place.
Hello Nicholas, Thank you for your comment and for your interest. True that I would not cost so much money for the gouvernement to help, but I think this is more about interest, I think they benefit from this situation and this is why things are not moving much, sadly. Thank you again, and I will try to make an other video about French Guiana next time I go there.
Yeah you definitely don't go to French Guiana for the beaches haha, except if you go on the islands "Les îles du salut" there is really nice beaches there. But for the rest of the country the beauty is inside the amazon forest and along the rivers :)
I was just looking for the Windward islands on Google map, then suddenly I came across the French Guiana. I wondered why I didn't know anything about this country. I'm not sure if I did it because I'm learning French or just out of curiosity. Anyway I found this great video you made and I got stunned by the natural wonders of that country. I also got a little bit sad to know it's a poor country with few possibilities. Is there any way to get there by plane? I don't think there's an airport. Thanks for the video.

They are many places to have a good time in French Guiana, that I didn't talk about in this video, but there is a book about how to travel in french guiana with a hammock that show lot of nice places, look at the "canopée" and the "Ecolodge" too and for sure .Les Isles du salut", you will have a really great time :)
Do you feel more connected with people from France or from Guadeloupe and Martinique? 🤔 They aren’t so far away and there’s a shared creole language and culture, yet it seems like Metropolitan France is more important to the identity of French Guianese. 🧐
I think that most of the people feel more connected with Guadeloupe and Martinique rather than France, because the situation is similaire. There is a commun "base" history between the over sea territories, but they can have completely different situation now, and every territory have a creole language, but it is not the same. There is definitely a big connexion with France, because officially everyone is french, but still some tension can be here because of the colonisation history and the relationship with the gouvernement that is not good,
@@NikolasPulka good to hear that most feel connected to Guadeloupe and Martinique. maybe those three territories could eventually break away from France and form a single nation. It just feels wrong to see poverty and inequality in places that are meant to be fully integrated into France
@@gwada9718 There is actually even more territories, it's 11 territories around the world with a similar status like Martinique and Guiana. hello, this year i should come work on the power plant. I am from Croatia 🙋♂️ what kind of people are there and how safe it is on the street, what kind of people are 🥂👍
What resources are there? Jungle hardwood? Gold, copper? Is the internal land good for agriculture? 30kilometers inland is okay for farms or is it swamp?
There is a ton a exotic wood, but the exploitation is really low actually, lot of gold yes, a lot, farming is not the best because the quality of the soil is hard to farm, but it's not impossible, it's just harder than in Europe because of the complexity of the amazon forest, but some people do an amazing job to make it work.

I have a question: In my understanding you have the same rights and laws as in france, right? Dont you have the same medical and unemployment support like in Paris? So why does it look like a 3rd world country down there? no offence =)
Hello. Yes we technically do have the same rights and laws than France. But it also mean that it is France who manage the budget to the territory and not the territory by himself. So for exemple yes we have the same medical right than in France we can go to the hospital for free, but for a big part of the population there is no hospital around... they didn"t build one. The country is 88000km long and there is 2 medical center in the all country. Also you have access to school like in France. But is the same situation, some villages are living 80km away of the first school, and they is no public transportation system, so no way to go to school. This is a good exemple of you can have rights but we don't do anything to reach these rights, it became useless... sadly.
Try to get a fly to Martinique stay there for a night and the day after you book a fly to French Guiana, that's the most easy way from North America, but you have to book the 2 flight separately, no airline company will give you that option. I live in Montreal Canada, that how I do most of the time.
