Hi, Thanks for brilliant videos. I am setting Lab using your server 2016 and sccm 2002. Sccm is upto date. I wanted to update sql server to 2017 from 16 and server 2016 to 19. Is it possible without damaging the current setup? If yes will you making a video for those who are on server 16 and want to upgrade to 2019. Thanks again for brilliant videos. Keep it up
Hi Ronaldo9_R9 You are welcome and I am glad you find my videos helpful. Yes you can do that. You need to perform a database backup of your current ConfigMgr database. I have already upgraded my SQL server to 2017 and unfortunately would not be able to record a video on that.
It is possible for sure. Just point the files where you want to save them. One reason for re-doing this playlist was to show the best practices instead of just running ConfigMgr in the lab.
Thank you! Your instructions are concise and succinct! I'm using macOS with VMware and I'm starting to wonder if it's even possible to run endpoint as a vm on a Mac host. I've been installing the software on my domain controller, is that a bad idea? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Jay, Thanks for sharing your videos. I have used your videos as a reference for installing the client but in my case, There was an SCCM server earlier used by one of the ex-colleague but we had some issues with that server and we turned off. I built a new SCCM server, I was able to discover the machines in the device collection but when I push the client. It installs the client on the target machine but still shows the management point as "Old server" it does not show the server name which I build. Could you please share some thoughts on this, what should I do. Appreciate your response.
Hi Shaik, You are welcome. Check LocationServices.log file on the impacted client. This will give you an indication from where client is picking up MP. Also, you can check ClientServices.log. Jay
@@TekNexSolutions Thanks for your reply Jay. I checked the Location Services.Log It says Retrieved MP (new server name) from the registry, then attempting to retrieve lookup MPs from AD. Lookup Management point gives the (OLD SCCM server name). So what might be wrong. Could you please help me with this.
You can use SQL Server 2019 Standard or Ent, check more info here bit.ly/3nPiNxl. The reason why I used 2017 due to some issues with SQL 2019 with ConfigMgr. I think they have fixed with the latest CUs.
Hi mate just a question! For this lab, I have got a machine with 126G SSD, 8 Gig RAM, will that be ok, I am gonna increase RAM to 16 next week or so. Please advise. Thanks
Microsoft Eval center is down and there is nothing I can do about it. Here is a workaround they put in place techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-11/accessing-trials-and-kits-for-windows-eval-center-workaround/m-p/3361125.
TekNex Solutions I have one HP laptop, config 6GB RAM,I5 Processor,500GB Storage.I used to set up my lab in Azure..i can use d resource only for one month cause it required subscription.
or do I need to install the latest versions again? I am almost done my lab set up with the previous series (Current branch 1802). I just have the configuration manager left to install.
Windows Server - yes you would be able to. Server 2016 will do just fine. SQL server - you have to uninstall 2016 and then install 2017. As you haven’t installed ConfigMgr yet, no database backup will be required.
It is the new baseline version, so it is only version available to download. Microsoft releases baseline version every year. It should be fine using this in production. Just remember this is CB (Current Branch) version and every CB version usually comes with only 14 months of support. Check here docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/servers/manage/current-branch-versions-supported to find out more about support for Configuration Manager current branch versions.

You will need Windows 10 Pro. Enterprise or Education is only available for organisations who have KMS servers.
What is the need for virtual harddisk. Is it possible to install all software inside the virtual machine

Not a good practice to chuck everything on a DC
@@TekNexSolutions Thank you Jay, really appreciate the advice... Could your instructions easily apply to a Mac host computer using VMware Fusion?
I got error while I am downloading config error msg at 42 out of 49
Can anyone who have Bachalor degree in any field take this course and once certified can get a job in this?
I am able to install config manager 2203. Would these instructions work for 2203?
Will work just fine. Just install SQL Server 2019 with the latest CU.

You need at least 16GB. More storage if possible.
Not sure it is doable, you could purchase a small HP server.
Can you update the download links? MECM is nowhere to be found. Thanks!
I will check.
