Equipado con un secuenciador multitímbrico sobre cuatro partes de sintetizador y una parte de ritmo personalizable, Roland SH-4d permite a los usuarios componer patrones complejos con grabación de movimiento, efectos ampliados, y más. Y con sus dimensiones compactas, resulta ser adecuado para el estudio, los escenarios, y la música en movimiento.
Afirman desde la marca que Carl Craig, una de las leyendas históricas del techno Detroit, quedó tan impresionado con Roland SH-4d que aceptó ser el rostro del vídeo de lanzamiento, donde presenta una actuación «enérgica» con nueva música tocada por completo sobre el nuevo sintetizador.
Diversidad sónica: 11 modelos de oscilador, con base en el legado de Roland
Quizá siguiendo el mismo derrotero de otros lanzamientos recientes a manos de competidores (como el impresionante híbrido Arturia Minifreak), ahora vemos también 11 modelos de OSCilador en Roland SH-4d; éstos ofrecen opciones muy diversas para crear sonidos, desde tonos analógicos añejos con los modelos ‘SH-4d’, ‘SH-3D’, ‘Chord’, ‘Ring’, y ‘Sync’, hasta texturas digitales de vanguardia con las variedades ‘Cross FM’, ‘Wavetable’, y ‘Drawing’.
Y no podían faltar «voces influyentes del pasado histórico de Roland» como los modelos ‘SH-101’ y ‘JUNO-106’, junto a una base PCM que, al parecer, aporta una gran selección de sonidos basados en samples. Y como decíamos, SH-4d también añade un flexible sintetizador de batería con «ricas capacidades de modelado de tonos», que debería permitir la creación de conjuntos personalizados de batería y percusión sintéticas desde cero.
Diseño sonoro en el foco: SH-4d desborda en controles y feedback visual
El sintetizador SH-4d pone todo lo que «los creadores necesitan para un diseño de sonido profesional al alcance de su mano», asegura la compañía; eso incluye 32 knobs, cuatro deslizadores, y una variedad de botones multifunción.
Y es agradable ver cómo la pantalla gráfica LCD, los sliders, y los botones reconfiguran de forma automática sus funciones para seguir el modo seleccionado por el usuario; eso elimina el obstáculo que implica una inmersión en menús, que siempre ralentiza el flujo de ideas (como ocurría con muchos sintes del pasado).
Las secciones dedicadas de filtro, amplificador y LFO siempre están listas para dar forma a cualquier tono o patrón. Y con una poderosa sección ‘Matrix’, es posible crear una gama aún más amplia de sonidos, encaminando la salida del LFO o generador de envolvente hacia los parámetros en un modelo de oscilador.
Por otro lado, el secuenciador de SH-4d está siempre a un botón de distancia, listo para transformar ideas de sonido en loops compactos o composiciones extendidas. Y hasta 60 notas de polifonía total brindan amplios recursos para desarrollar ideas musicales completas en la caja. También hay una selección versátil de reconocidos efectos de la marca para triturar, refinar, desbastar, o reventar tonos y patrones.

man, these tracks are killing it. has Roland made a legend machine? the drums sound killer.the synths sound killer. I have 17 machines, and am trying not to buy any more, my girlfriend wants to throw me out. but this is so killer
I’m in a similar situation except I don’t have a girlfriend, but I don’t need another synth. I have about the same amount of gear as well, still…. I pre-ordered this the other day. I got one spot left in my setup that the 4D will fit. I can tell already it’s got something unique going on in the synth engine to where I don’t have anything like it. Well I have an Sh-01a, JD-08, TR-8s, TR-6s, and this kinda has a little of them all in one but has it’s own thing going on.
I bought the TR-8s to use live, and the 6s to use outside of my production station which has the 01a & JD hooked up. I’m gonna remove the 01 & JD and put the 4D in its place next to the Virus Ti-1 and Tasty Chips GR-1. The 4D will offer something special that my Digitakt & Digitone don’t do. Money doesn’t grow on trees for me either, but I can afford to make this one last purchase. That’s how strongly I feel about it. What’s funny is I’m not a huge Roland fan either, but like I said, they made something very interesting with this, as well as the TR-8s for live sets. It’s like a jam and sound design beast rolled into one. I can really get funky with it and sample into the Digitakt & GR-1, or simply record/usb stream into the DAW. The filter, FX, and ease of use stand out to me. Over all the sound as well.
My ramblings are over, it will soon be mine. No one to answer to other then my self. The gear is my lover, and I’m in a Polly relationship lol Don’t tell my mono’s lol

I just picked the beast up, and holy-shiiit is it deeep!!! Incredible sounds you can create with this thing! Wow, Roland really went to town with this thing, specially if your into the hard industrial teckno like myself. And saying its deep is an understatement!

Like the navy blue monitor(screen) that Roland put on some of its gear like: the Jupiter XM, Integra 7, Juno DS and this one. I hate the reds and greens. BLUE, purple, white and/or orange look classy....... beautiful inside out.

That's true! The machine is a nice starting way for many people, as his sound core is so diverse. There are many options for sound design, really appealing too for the advanced users

My thing is if you don't think you'll use it then fine, but to flat out say no one else is gonna use it is a d#*khead move IMHO.

Sample import for drums, wavetables would be great, also at least an extra stereo pair for external mangling / pedals so you can leave your laptop at home, I don’t trust USB for a noise-free signal. Also a 3rd LFO and a good amount of destinations would make it a very interesting proposition.

@Critical Strike Forge except MC-707 is closer to what he asks for? It lacks a 3rd LFO on patch design and wavetables, SH-4d lacks the 3rd LFO, sampling, and extra stereo outputs, and more, quite frankly - it is not a workstation after all, but MC-707 is

@@FutureMusicMediaLAB i like the ringing and metallic sounds coming out of it which I assume are from FM? I'm pretty crazy about FM percussion which is why I already have a Volca Drum, Cycles and Syntakt.
@@EnochDark Could be -the machine has FM capabilities, but you can hear wavetable and ring mod based tones too in the demos

I bought the Arturia Minifreak without doing my research and found out that it didn’t have the wave table like the micro freak , I just assumed it did. But seeing the SH-4D I really want one!! It sounds amazing!! And has Various sound engines as well as PCM sounds. I think this will complement my minifreak very well!
I haven't touched my minifreak since getting this thing, Its allready replaced it and I cant see myself using the freak much after getting to grips with the Roland. If that continues to be the case the Freak is gettin sold!!
@@TK-hz4ss well I finally got my SH-4D and you are correct it’s freaking amazing!!! Wow it does what the Minifreak wishes it could do! Bigger better screen then the minifreak and also more knob per function. I’m also considering selling my minifreak as well.
@@interrorgationstudios I sold my Minilogue XD and im thinking between the Minifreak vs the SH-4D. Maybe you could help me. Is the minifreak a more deep synth than the SH-4D? The SH-4D is capable of nice modulation sounds or its more for a classic tone? And what about the effects between the two?
@@joebaf well in my humble opinion is that I think the Roland SH-4D has more interesting synth models compared to the minifreak. Capable of sounding very weird but beautiful rich sounds! Also the screen on the SH4D is bigger and you’re able to see more information then the minifreak. Those are just some of the reasons that attracted me to the SH. Oh I almost for the portability is great battery powered you can literally take it anywhere. The sequence is very easy to use. The effects are good on both synths.Don’t get me wrong the minifreak is really cool sounding synth I guess you can say that it is a classic sounding.
@@interrorgationstudiosthis thing is 4 part plus a drum track, 60 notes polyphony per Andy from Roland. Minifreak sounds great but limited in polyphony and not multitimbral with a limited seq.. hope that helps having both units

That’s how I plan to use it. I actually have 5 synths that are 4 part timbre. I didn’t plan it that way, just happened. The SH-4D will be the 6th one. The other five I own all let me play them on 4 different midi lanes on the KSP, so I’m assuming it won’t be any different with the 4D.

@@TommyNewton-jq9sf MC-707 didn't have a song mode or clip chaining and a few other bits until after one of the early updates, and probably due to popular demand. So patience, I think it will happen.
