I absolutely adore the sudden tone shift at the end of the chicken quest. Quirky and wholesome and then BAM.

Everyone talking about the chicken sidequest, nobody talking about that old lady absolutely chewing the scenery from start to finish. That actress studied how to play an old lady, said "fuck it" and just went to town on every stereotypical old woman trope there is

I love the chicken quest. It’s basically entirely designed as a prank against the player. Make a quest with mechanics just annoying enough to get through, set up a daunting task, relief when you don’t actually have to do it, then the punchline after all that effort the player put into finishing it. Masterful trolling.

The writing for the chicken sidequest was absolutely inspired. Easily my favorite in the game, regardless of any conflicted feelings it might have to offer.

One thing I really do appreciate about the Remake project being able to flesh out characters. We already saw in Remake part 1 how Zack’s influence in Sector 5 had the kids carrying cardboard buster swords. And now we see his lasting influence on his home village. It’s so nice. Absolutely love it. :>

I think this is the fourth time Red gets to eat in this game, and it has been meat every time, it's a little weird he's so conflicted about it this time 😅 I guess he doesn't usually talk to the food before it's cooked, most people don't.

It was a very good choice to finish the Yuffie quest in Gongaga now. It becomes a complete pain in the ass to finish later if you forget about it as all the enemies die too quick to meet the conditions of the fights, as I learned the hard way.

    • @imveryangryitsnotbutter
      @imveryangryitsnotbutter 6 місяців тому +9

Switching to Dynamic difficulty fixes that problem; it makes it so that all enemies 4+ levels lower than Cloud's level are scaled up to 3 levels lower than Cloud's level. This makes fights with victory conditions much easier as it gives the enemies more durability.

    15:18 That's one way to say "I'm a Turk."
16:25 Yuffie's very good at embarrassing herself, Cloud.
17:14 "Oh Chicken, Where Art Thou"? What a reference.
30:04 Why am I not surprised?
31:42 This is *hilarious* to me. I was half expecting Grandma to just reach over and snap the chicken's neck just off camera.
31:57 They were being raised for food. In the wild, they'd have been something else's food. Better to not bet yourself up over it, it died better here.
32:18 Not really? Maybe just for Red?
32:40 Don't... don't say things like that, Dan. You know what happens.
33:29 I see one problem already. Two, actually.
34:08 Ah, onions, something I will never understand why anyone likes.
34:45 You're calling "obviously burnt stew" something that "smells pretty good"... wtf was in Turks rations?
35:04 Cactuar... meat? Is this like "cactus meat" or is it gonna be weirdly red?
36:25 Is Red even a "dog"?
37:08 I love the weirdly Katamari music the dog segment gets.
38:08 If literally anyone other than Aerith tried that with me, I'd call them a con artist.
    38:45 Even Aerith's a con artist!
40:18 Carrie, it was a con. She can't, otherwise she wouldn't have shushed Cloud. I do wonder what vegans would do if plants suddenly started making interpretable noises.
43:12 It's a ton of salt for anything other than salt-crusted stuff. Got enough already to preserve a pretty good size fish.
43:29 Aerith, we have enough salt for weeks... or we could sell some.
45:04 Alternatively, use a sharp knife?
48:42 Okay, now I hate this minigame. Which isn't unique, mind you.
48:50 That would be my first complaint, yes.
51:01 Cooking is really easy, though!
51:10 Nothing quite like bad fortified food. Of the US MREs I've bought surplus, I've had one I wouldn't eat (egg&cheese or veggie "omelet" from the mid200s to early 2010s, looked like a chunk of rubber), but nothing I wouldn't finish.

These minigames will probably be tweaked for other platforms (using rumble and clearer visual cues, instead of just the triggers), so adaptive triggers might not be a requirement. But a better (and possible more comfortable) controller might not be a bad idea on the long term
