Haven’t read the books.I still would’ve preferred Michael because I wanted to see that story unfold. Hate Fran is flustered because it made me feel bad for John and feel like fighting to marry him was for nothing. John deserves better. This change will have lots of problems. Not excited at all for her season. They need to try and release seasons yearly or give us more spin offs in between hiatus. 2 years for each season is way too long and they will lose viewers.

I read the books and honestly I hate that they are straying so far away from the books. This is the Victorian Era, queer people cannot marry. So, basically Francesca will have an undercover relationship for the rest of her life? That sucks. And also, who will take care of her? Because once her husband passes, his title falls to the next of kin ( male). I believe that this series will lose a lot of fans.. honestly, we are not as invested in Benedict and Francesca’s story. Or maybe I’m not invested in it- because I know it will be completely different from the book.

Yeah I get that especially since the book is about her wanting a child. Also, the two year wait is going to lose viewers as well.

They definitely lost me. I was so excited for Polin and was left sorely disappointed with the second part season 3. So much was happening in part 2 that I couldn't experience the feels when Collin and Penelope were together. I won't be watching the next season because Polin was my favorite match after Daphne and Simon.

@@tiffanycummings2079 I am sad to admit it but I have to agree. Season 1 and Queen Charlotte are the best. I was so let down by season 2 and 3.

I saw the 1st series because everyone raved about it, and loved it. I then bought and read all the books, whilst still watching the 1st series multiple times. I genuinely believe it was better than the book.
I was seriously disappointed in series 2 as I objected to the sisters competing for Anthony. I disagreed with other changes to the storylines - nothing to do with the actors.
Despite Colin's story being my least favourite (nothing to do with the actors, who are great) I watched series 3, when released, which proved to be too much of a disappointment.
I'll watch no more, as changes made to Benedict, Eloise, and Francesca's books are too over the top for my liking.
The series has become a woke soap opera of the worst kind. I'll stick to re- reading the books instead.

@@Jakarralarue enjoy. I read them in order, save for Colin's book which I started but had to put down as couldn't get into it. I finished it after I'd read the series, and prequels. Still my least favourite. In order, my faves are as follows:
      1. Francesca
      2. Eloise
      3. Benedict
      4. Anthony
      5. Hyacinth
      6. Daphne
      7. Gregory
      8. Colin

I have a problem soley with the way they undermined their love story by having Francesca immediately react to meeting Michaela. Which i was hoping they wouldn't do with Michael, since i was unaware of the gender swap till i saw it. I understand that the gender swap poses serious problems with the character motivations of the book but i feel like they could build a better story here than with Benedict.
The problem with Benedict is that the show has given us no reason to care about his love life. Him being offered the opportunity to be queer once in season 1 was not enough to validate a bi throuple in the back half of season 3. It made no sense to me. Where as Francesca being almost completely uninterested in men until she met her kindred spirit,is the perfect basis for a potential queer love story. I dont think Francesca would have or should have been immediately attracted to michaela, just like she wasnt with michael. They could build up the relationship the same as in the books, and the extreme intimacy of that friendship would make far more sense between two women rather than a woman and a man.
Then as the story unfolds and Francesca and Michaela bond over their loss then romance builds. Francesca might think herself alone in her new and frightening affections, and only after learning about Michaela's feelings will she come to terms with her sexuality. The only big difference would have to be that Francesca would not have a miscarriage. It would be similar to this season featherington plot. Losing the title in want of an air. So the stirling/kilmartin family would be putting an astounding pressure on Francesca to be pregnant with a boy, and on Michaela to marry and also be pregnant just in case. Francesca would be jealous of Michaelas attempt to marry, all the while they both feel the guilt of having to move on so quickly from john. So the season would start with poor johns passing carry on one or two episodes with michala trying to marry and get pregnant and Francesca being pregnant hoping its a boy. For story sake lets say Michaela gets engaged and then Francesca has a boy. Next plot would be Michaela deciding whether or not to go through with the marriage and Francesca meddling much like colin did with pen and lord debling, insisting that she should not settle. Then comes the guilty liasons and recognition that feelings exist but not knowing how to live with them, until much like in the book, they realize that john would want them to just be happy. Aside from Francesca getting to have johns child, which would be a small blessing and a tribute to rheir love, the story could play out close to the same.
I do dislike this need and fan service in forcing in queer relationships and or racial equality were it may not fit. But this show established that it lives in an alternate universe where racism was very nearly solved by the grace of one king falling in love with a black women. So acceptance is a big thing this show does. Queer relationships wont be out of the picture. But we only this season got to know Francesca. It makes more sense to introduce the queer storyline with an essentially new character.
I know that fans want Benedict to be bi, but the character said no flat out and then they didnt bring it back to light once until the fans were angry that he wasnt gay. Making him gay or bi to serve the fans will hurt the story more than developing it from a fresh start. There is no need to drastically change the motivations of a character in the middle of their current plot without any warning or build up. What they did with Benedict was so out of the blue and underdeveloped, it made me angry at his storyline.
Dont get me wrong i am made at the end of Francescas story, but simply because she had a reaction that was completely out of pocket for her character. I understand that people will have a problem with the queer storyline, but i would rather it be Francesca than Benedict.

EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS!!! 🥹 i love watching Bridgerton and i don’t want to lose interest cos of the story line being messed up. they already started with Colin & Pen’s season where there should have given more depth to their love story. everything felt like so rushed which made viewers left confused.
