It kinda looks to me as if the pool was abandoned during building, look at the half-finished retaining wall with the rebar sticking out and stacks of blocks waiting to be used!
Do my eyes deceive me or is that pool tiled? Looks a million times better after your clean up, Miles. Hope you have the means to give us a part deux. I love the after shots & I think, once renovated, this pool could be a gorgeous addition to the house.

I'd love to see you and Sid from Partridge Exterior Cleaning get together for a transformation like this. He's got all the right equipment to do the cleaning and you have the know how to get the pool running. I'm sure some of those guys that do pressure washing can share some tips and ideas on a small time set up for jobs like this.

looks like the pool is an indoor pool but they stopped building the walls. Kranzle jetwash works well with the turbo nozzle on. the pool looks like its never been used looks new now. nice work.
Rather than a vacuum for the final half inch of water and debris that the pump won't lift get yourself a pressure washer venturi pump. This pump uses no moving parts only water pressure from the pressure washer and can cope with debris including leaves, silt and stones etc. As part of my work i look after a number of very large ornamental fountains and the venturi pump is a life saver for cleaning these out and will pump right down to the ground level.
here in the city of São Paulo 🇧🇷, there is a river called Tietê, it is rotten, this pool looks like the Tietê river. Congratulations on having the courage to face this.

OMG, it's like the Skin of Evil episode from Star Trek Next Generation. Despite how dirty it was, the pool looked like it was still in immaculate condition. Fix the leak, put in a few pump system and call it a day!

Right, so some tips here for if I happen across an enormous lottery win: 1) Sloping bottom pools are easier to clean. 2) Tiles are easy to clean. 3) If you can set the pool on a hillside, install a giant drain plug that goes to a clean-out area and thence to drains without an intervening water lock; your pool cleaners will thank you for making life easier for them to clean it out. 4) If possible, feed the pool from a natural spring to avoid huge water bills. 5) If possible, put a roof over the pool.

If you wear longer gloves, like the type you wash dishes in, you can put a cuf on them. Like, fold up a cuff on the glove? Then, when you have to lift a bucket of sludge over your shoulder height the dirty water gathers in the cuff and doesnt run down your arm into your armpit. Just a tip from someone who has cleaned out a few muddy pits in her life...😮

Definitely looks tiled with a few tiles missing by the steps.
certainly is a tiled pool, and of course I will post more about the pool was the work continues! I'm just not sure when they'll be getting on with it.
I vastly prefer a tiled or plastered pool (as opposed to those liners)

Jet washing a dirty path is very theraputic, so I can't imagine how it is to do a pool that size!
You need to invest in a good petrol powered jet wash, no need to plug it in.
