My best friend was a die hard Valve fan. Always talking about how great CS1.6 and HL games were. He was the reason I was introduced to Portal series which is now my most favorite game. He died from cancer 2 years ago. Last time I saw him we were talking about regrets and happy moments in our life and I asked him if he has any regret. I was gladly try my best to fix or do whatever he asked. He said only regret he had was not having a chance to play Portal 3 and Half Life 3. First I thought he was hiding something or lighting up the mood but he was dead serious. I was surprised how good those games must be to be a man’s last thought before death! I hope he was around to see and hear those news about his loved franchise. If those games come out I will definitely play it in memory of my dude!
Valve made the genius move, tf2 players kept talking about the cheater and bot problem and what did valve do? They made a cs game that has more cheaters than tf2 so tf2 players wouldn't complain as much (But in all seriousness I hope valve starts showing love for tf2 again) Edit: ik they fixed tf2 thats why i wrote “kept talking”
@@puzzlepuddles6712 Ye TF2's situation has gotten better. For me there wont be a game thats more fun that tf2. I was just joking in my original comment cus the cs2 situation is worse rn than tf2 ever was.
The half life franchise has always been about pushing the boundaries of gaming. Both HL1 and HL2 had groundbreaking graphics and physics for their time and HL:Alyx gave us a truly immersive AAA VR game that raised the bar for the entire medium. My question is, Where do we go from here? We already have photorealistic games so I cant really foresee a massive graphical leap from valve, and unless HL3 is also in VR there really isn't more you can do with physics in any particularly interesting way to the player. Personally, I'm a huge simp for VR and I'd love to see this next Half life be a VR title released alongside a new headset from valve. But thats SUPER wishful thinking. Valve makes games that break the mold and Half Life is the franchise that they use to shape the industry. Valve wouldn't make half life 3 if it's just a half life 2 sequel with better graphics. If this is real then valve is cooking something that none of us are ready for.
There is room to expand on the mechanics in HL2 and the AI from HL1. But I also think that Valve culture might be changing. That desire to be the one who breaks the mold has led to stagnation. HLA was somewhat groundbreaking, but really it's time to just be a good developer, not a groundbreaking developer. Deadlock seems really like a refinement of the hero shooter MOBA that never stuck the landing earlier this decade. HL3 I hope will focus on things like NPC AI being super dynamic like the first two HL titles and or games like FEAR.
@@GrainOnTheGo 100% Combine AI in Half Life 2 was gnarly (though it was neutered after playtests because they were too accurate) with squads using flank routes and destroying cover to make new paths to you. I saw some stuff on voxel based destruction that people originally thought was going to be used in Deadlock but that seems to have been scrapped, so there's a chance it could be used in this new Half Life game (think Striders blowing dynamic holes into buildings) There was also a technology Valve was developing for its first attempt at Half Life 3, where building interiors would be algorithm generated, leading to unique cover and enemy positions for each playthrough, and I'm fairly certain this was pretty much finished (though it was built for Source). Maybe this could see a return as well?
What if they made the Orange Box 2? Half Life 3, Team Fortress 3, and Portal 3. It’s just great news hearing they are finally returning back to their core and reviving their franchises. People have been begging for Half Life 3 for 17 years. They left us on a cliffhanger for 17 years.
portal 3 would be absolute chaos. merging chell with freeman just sounds so terribly wrong. i hope that they will bring a portal out that shows the beginning of everything before the combine took over the earth.
@@captaintudogzi kinda hope chell shows up in half life 3, maybe not as a secons protagonist or anything like that but could be an interesting side character as she got locked up before the black mesa incident

Yeah.. I mean, I'm sure VR is amazing but I just couldn't care less for it when it comes to games. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to comprehend that I might just not want it as an person. If it overtakes traditional gaming, just no thanks..
@@ChocoRainbowCorn plus, it allienates large chunk o players I agree VR is cool, but it gets old fast, and the tech just kind of plateaued in a state where manufacturers cannot make the hardware cheaper, or slimmer. as much as I like HL, I'm not buying a $300 piece of gear just for the sake of it
Although I’m excited to see some new traditional titles from Valve. I still hope they the ambition to make waves in the VR field. Playing VR for the first time was just as critical as a moment for me as picking up and playing Halo for the first time ever.
I'll be honest, as someone who is an acolyte of HL, and has played the absolute library of mods over the years, I haven't felt "abandoned" with the stability Steam has provided. I don't know if we really give credit to Valve for having an online client that has been present for decades during so many swings in the industry.
When you started talking about deadlock and the people getting invited to play test, I decided to check my steam notifications. You’re not gonna believe this.(I got the notification to join 2 days ago)
What a life. I was too little to understand valve games in 2000-2010s, so recently I started playing them. Tf2 is awesome, I'm playing everyday, portal and hl rock. I'm just a 19 yo and I'm new to everything and realising some people waited for something new from valve for ALMOST TWO DECADES is just crazy. I'm so lucky
I've been saying for years Valve is going to make a standalone VR headset like the Oculus Quest. It just makes sense. They've been experimenting with VR hardware and now mobile gaming hardware. It's so obvious to try to combine them and that quote at the end of the video just kind of proves it for me.
theres a difference, most of valves employees dont care about cs2! its funny seeing so many people complain about it when games like ricochet havent gotten updates by valve since the 90s
So from what I understand, it's not Half Life 3 they're working on, but a continuation or another prequel from a different characters perspective. Similar to what they did with the Half Life 1 expansions. It would make more sense for them to re-cap what has happened so far, that way the newer generations understand the storyline (Not really sure if many gen z or alpha have played this series).
I remember back at around 2014, my dad was getting me into PC gaming with Steam (first game was The Dig funnily enough), and had told me about Valve. I never heard of them before and assumed it was some dead company that doesn't make any games. I'm a huge Valve fan nowadays, having played all Half Life and Portal games, and I guess I wasn't completely wrong lmao.
It's important to note that in the behind the scenes HLA stuff the admitted that the Source 2 engine was not ready for a detailed FPS. This was around 2017-2018 which is insane. I figured after ten plus years in development they had it fully working. So this definitely slowed down new content. Because, using Source would be limiting compared to what they could do with Source 2 being finished to the point of developing a FPS. With HLA and the rumored HL3, I would not be surprised if new games come out over the next five years. Now they have an actual engine to load the IPs on. Source is great but its showing its age. I wonder if Source 2 bottlenecked everything more than we thought.
Thing is, they can't Because HL Alyx was designed to be played in VR, if you were to play it without VR it would feel a whole lot different to what Valve intended Luckily you can install NoVR mods into HLA, but if Valve were to make an official one they'll have to overhaul the game
back in 2015 when I was doing AmxModX mods for CS 1.6 I programmed Alien Invasion Mod with up to 300 Aliens hunting you around the map with AI. It was pretty fun. The cap was around 300 because CS 1.6 server work on 1 thread only so it was too heavy for my 4 core cpu if I spawned too many aliens.

They don't even have to call it Half Life 3 and it still sounds like this will be a game worth looking forward to, a rarity now a days in the AAA game industry. But if they do call it that it'll be the biggest flex a gaming company ever did and we'd love them for it.
the multiplayer part might be deathmatch
Co op not multiplayer
I freaking hope its Coop. That would be awesome. Half Life 2, and 1 Coop are freaking awesome. They should really just be added to the game ha

you cant make what was made in csgo's entirety of 10 years in 1 year, especially when nothing was ported over but built from the ground up
I have to give them credit yeah, they remade the entirety of CS:GO basic things in source 2 which i mean like barely anyone has done so well like Valve did, that probably already took a long time and was stressful so just imagine having to make dangerzone, cache trains and others in such a short time
That's what I'm saying

They made a cs game that has more cheaters than tf2 so tf2 players wouldn't complain as much (But in all seriousness I hope valve starts showing love for tf2 again)
Edit: ik they fixed tf2 thats why i wrote “kept talking”
What bots? :)
idk what you're talking about man, i have been having so much fun in tf2 lately
@@puzzlepuddles6712 Ye TF2's situation has gotten better. For me there wont be a game thats more fun that tf2. I was just joking in my original comment cus the cs2 situation is worse rn than tf2 ever was.
Outdated info man, valve has done an incredible job stopping bots and preventing them from coming back
The half life franchise has always been about pushing the boundaries of gaming.
HL3 I hope will focus on things like NPC AI being super dynamic like the first two HL titles and or games like FEAR.
yea
@@GrainOnTheGo 100% Combine AI in Half Life 2 was gnarly (though it was neutered after playtests because they were too accurate) with squads using flank routes and destroying cover to make new paths to you.
I saw some stuff on voxel based destruction that people originally thought was going to be used in Deadlock but that seems to have been scrapped, so there's a chance it could be used in this new Half Life game (think Striders blowing dynamic holes into buildings)
There was also a technology Valve was developing for its first attempt at Half Life 3, where building interiors would be algorithm generated, leading to unique cover and enemy positions for each playthrough, and I'm fairly certain this was pretty much finished (though it was built for Source). Maybe this could see a return as well?
I hope Half life 3 won't be a VR game
it shouldn’t be vr
Insane how valve suddenly locked in
Like a deadlock 😏
Valve is hiring new Devs, those Devs want half life 3, valve is forced to create half life 3
We are getting #SaveHalfLife before gta6
If Half-Life 3 comes out the world will implode
I do hope Adrian Shepheard comes back to the series. also that Adrian could be a potential co op with Gordon possibly.
i hope they at least follow the same storyline with the borealis at the end of hl2e2 and the easter egg in portal 2
I don't think that there will be a portal 3, half life and portal take place in the same world, so the series will probably be merged
Why Team Fortress 3?
portal 3 would be absolute chaos. merging chell with freeman just sounds so terribly wrong. i hope that they will bring a portal out that shows the beginning of everything before the combine took over the earth.
@@captaintudogzi kinda hope chell shows up in half life 3, maybe not as a secons protagonist or anything like that but could be an interesting side character as she got locked up before the black mesa incident

I won't treat HL3 like anything but speculation until I see some actual content.
I just played tf2 for the first time last night. Masterpiece.
its been 20 years since HL2 yes we had the Ep1 & Ep2, for me now I just play Half life Alyx for my HL fix and always on the look out for new content, Value need to ad VR as well and pancake mode to any for any future games.
If its actually HL3, It should probably follow up after the Events of Half Life: Alyx.
"It starts with one thing, i dont know why"
5:58 this makes me so sad because procedurally generating the combat levels would be such an innovative thing to do and would fit perfectly for valve and half-life

I agree VR is cool, but it gets old fast, and the tech just kind of plateaued in a state where manufacturers cannot make the hardware cheaper, or slimmer.
as much as I like HL, I'm not buying a $300 piece of gear just for the sake of it
Although I’m excited to see some new traditional titles from Valve. I still hope they the ambition to make waves in the VR field.
Playing VR for the first time was just as critical as a moment for me as picking up and playing Halo for the first time ever.
Say it with me: vAlve vAlve. Not velve
Valva. Volvo.
I'll be honest, as someone who is an acolyte of HL, and has played the absolute library of mods over the years, I haven't felt "abandoned" with the stability Steam has provided. I don't know if we really give credit to Valve for having an online client that has been present for decades during so many swings in the industry.

Who is "Vove"?
I've been saying for years Valve is going to make a standalone VR headset like the Oculus Quest. It just makes sense. They've been experimenting with VR hardware and now mobile gaming hardware. It's so obvious to try to combine them and that quote at the end of the video just kind of proves it for me.

gabe finally passed elementary school, he counted to 3
So from what I understand, it's not Half Life 3 they're working on, but a continuation or another prequel from a different characters perspective.
I'm a huge Valve fan nowadays, having played all Half Life and Portal games, and I guess I wasn't completely wrong lmao.
please tell me it's hl3
I was still a baby during the Glory Days of valve but yet this makes me happy
What is that accent when you pronounce Valve like "Velve"
They should make a pc port of hla
Wdym it's on PC
i second this
???
absouluetly not
Thing is, they can't
Because HL Alyx was designed to be played in VR, if you were to play it without VR it would feel a whole lot different to what Valve intended
Luckily you can install NoVR mods into HLA, but if Valve were to make an official one they'll have to overhaul the game
back in 2015 when I was doing AmxModX mods for CS 1.6 I programmed Alien Invasion Mod with up to 300 Aliens hunting you around the map with AI. It was pretty fun. The cap was around 300 because CS 1.6 server work on 1 thread only so it was too heavy for my 4 core cpu if I spawned too many aliens.
