  • When Brigitta started her business, she quickly found that her past bad experience in a corporate environment led her to pass on the same dysfunctional behaviours to her own staff, without even realising it! The realisation however, came quickly, as she experienced tremendous
turnaround in staff and tens of thousands of dollars in loss. She began pouring knowledge into
herself and her staff in the form of personal, staff and business development, which taught her that relationships, both personal and business, are built on one skill: LISTENING! This should not be confused with WAITING, which is pausing until it’s your turn to speak so that you can share your own agenda in hopes of getting what you want. In order to unlock your sixth sense to building meaningful relationships, one must be able to listen on five levels! Brigitta’s talk will tell us more about those
five levels so we can all start listening to relate and not to respond. Brigitta is an accomplished corporate trainer, keynote speaker, and business leader. She is proficient in questioning the status quo and teaching effective communication skills. In 2004, she made the bold move of relocating her family to a small town in the United States in order to start a Montessori school. Despite the challenges of being a young mother at the time, Brigitta was successfully growing her businesses rapidly and expand continuously. Her passion for speaking & coaching and her dedication to excellence earned her a spot on the board of directors of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), while continuing to grow her Communication Training Firm. In addition to all her knowledge, strategies and processes Brigitta is know for her creativity, compassion and passion. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

My favorite takeaways (2) were how Brigitta mentioned the cost for her lack of listening. That kind of honesty brought me into listen more intently.
Also I enjoyed Brigitta's use of nonverbal gestures, & the 5 points of communication. ... as well as the concept of being aware enough to not let your face give away what you are thinking.

I am so privileged to be mentored personally by Brigitta. Pro tip: This is how prepared and effectively she does everything. Still, gained insight into the totality of what to listen for and how important it is to make the other person the hero.

What’s your favorite takeaway from Brigitta’s talk? Mine is: “The problem with talking is listening.”
Not gonna lie, the part about the time with our children being lost makes me tear up every time I watch this.
Not only am I a proud husband of this incredible woman, I’m also floored by how she delivered her material.

Life will quickly teach you where you aren’t listening. My entrepreneurial journey started similar to yours - I thought I knew it all with my experience and education … thank you for the inspiration, Brigitta!

Most excellent! A highly important concept that's all too easily overlooked (and something I know I'm guilty of doing!) Well done, Brigitta Hoeferle - thank you for the content-rich reminder.

Thank you so much for teaching me what I didn’t know before and giving us the points to point our ears to being present with those who will teach us something new when we listen to relate, not to respond!

Love the distinction about how a 1 star listener picks up noise and spits out noise in contrast to the 5 star listener who picks up the signal. Great contrast here. Safe to say we all would prefer to be communicating with a 5 star listener. Nicely done Brigitta!
