This video was so much easier to follow than the others I was looking at. And your explanation was focused without adding irrelevant information. Great job!
_"Hello! My name is X, I am an X and I have been working with X and X and I studied X for X years."_ etc etc Fucks sake, I don't want to know what you do I wanna know what you know!
im in a middle of some edit but it wont break my day to stop and write some words. i like what youre doing, cause i am subscribed and my noti bell is on, but to be honest, i find your videos mostly while i am searching for such things like the voice over button, so thanks for building a very effective channel that is covering areas that are really needed
Thank you for this. I create technical courses and I used to combine voice recording with the demonstration. It's a headache trying to piece them together. With you help, I was able to record the demo first and laid over the voice over using Premiere. Such a life saver! Thanks man, a big fan of your content! More power to you and keep safe!
Thank you! It has been over a decade since I have tried to use Premiere and so much has changed; trying to re-learn in a hurry has been difficult. You have been a lifesaver!
A project with voice-over audio just came up and this video is just what I needed to get started! You're always my first go-to for new skills. Thank you! Keep on rolling!
OH MY GOD I LOVE YOUUUUUU!! YOU FIXED MY PROBLEM!! For the last 1 hour I have watched 1 million videos trying to find out why my voice over kept on echoing and having this screechy winy background sound and then your video told me what to change in the settings!! YOU ARE A GENIUS THANK YOUUUUUU I LOVE YOUUU
for someone whose customize option is grayed.. Try moving the timeline screen from place to place ( mostly top side of the right) and check wether it is clickable.. This worked for me!
Thank you so much! This is so helpful. For those of you wondering what to do about the grayed out customize button, just increase the vertical height of your Audio 2 bar!
Thanks for keeping it short and sweet brobro I'm learning premier/video editing for the first time since in around 10 years, and feel overwhelmed by all I need to learn. But this makes it super easy to follow and digest.
Thanks.. Really help... Can adobe premiere edit the voice? I mean like voice filter from surrounding sound? Your voice in this video is so loud and clear. Do you use additional software or just premiere? And may I know what is your microphone?thanks
Thanks Justin, I wasn’t happy with the audio I have on a training video on which the original audio was recorded and exported from PowerPoint. I have been applying masks and cutting the video track in AP - now I can do a new audio track in better quality, so thank you!
Perfect. Exactly what I needed, especially the mute myself part. As I tell everyone when gaming who has a bad mic.... the last thing I want to hear is me...
Great tutorial man. Really easy to follow unlike a lot of other. What I like most is that your interface looks almost exactly like mine, when a lot of other instructionals have a UI that is completely different making following the same steps as the guide just about impossible as you have to google every single menu and option to find it. So thanks again :)
so when you record with your mic and you have a headset on for some reason I can here myself talk during the narration and its really annoying is there a way to turn off the immediate playback?
Just got it all set up. Thanks for the great video! And to anyone who has issues with the customize button, I had the same problem. It worked for me after I expanded the timeline box upward. It was a weird fix but it worked.
I really wish I could clip the like button another 10k times. You broke this down simply without going to fast or two slow. Thank you thank you thank you. sooooooo glad I found your channel :)
Omg I’ve been trying to figure out how to record with my Blue Yeti Pro mic while on premier. 💛Danke Shon. 💛!! Thanks so much. I literally was recording separately and I could not figure out why everything sounded so weird when I hit play back. ... did not realize I had to select my mic 🙃😪
Justin do you still use the mic? Looking to grab something to do voice over for commercials. Would you recommend this? And, thanks for an awesome channel!
I currently use the shure SM7b. Before that I used the samson go mic with a pop filter. Would recommend both at different price points. You can see all my gear on kit.com/justinodisho
Very helpful, thank you. People with professional sound cards using ASIO can choose the input channel in the "Input" drop-down of the voice-over record settings window. This is the thing I wasn't finding.
mh, I am a beginner and I do everything like you in this video but when I go to the audio tab the audio track mixer says "no sequences" and is empty. recording works though but I'd like to adjust the level. any hint? I'm sure its something simple I'm missing.
Hi Justin Odisho great toutrial. I wanna to know one thing during voice over you can start stop but I want it pause start. can you please tell me how we can do this?
Hi Justin. We watched one min of vid and then stopped. Then our mic didnt work and came back. BOOM. All of our problems solved in the next 10 seconds. Thanks
Brilliant video, however when i try this, i cannot hear the video itself, instead it's on mute while i am recording my voice for commentary. how do i allow myself to hear the video and record my voice for commentary at the same time?
2:36, I'm working with my videos at the same time I'm watching your video and my R ( record Botton does not goes red like yours ) and the mic name on top it does not show it neither? I still manage to record but after couple of try and no sign of my recording actually is recoding, but at the end I can see it was recording, is there a preview/live for the recording, I may doing something wrong??
Hey man! Awesome video. One thing I'm missing - what do I do if the recording on the new track doesn't start at the playhead placement? When I press record, the playhead jumps to the beginning of the video. I know I am missing something stupid. Thanks for your time!
Hey Justin, thanks for postiing. I noticed that my audio was clipping. It's a fairly cheap Jounivo mic and has no knobs to adjust the gain. Is there a way to adjust the gain in premier, before hitting record? Cheers bro
Thank you so much! lol I know this comment is like over 2 years after you uploaded but I struggled so much trying to figure out why it wasnt using my blue snowball mic! Thank you! Left you a like!
I am recording with my condenser mic via a focusrite Audio interface.. but i can hear it in only 1 ear. What Aidio hardware should i change for mono recording?
Sir got a question. Is it possible to make it so that when recording voices, audio tracks do not play? without pressing mute each time before and after voice recording?
How are you getting it to record both channels. Mine only shows L is recording it's driving me absolutely insane and I cannot find a fix. I did everything exactly the same as you did.
Hi, I'm following your tutorial. But for some reason on my track two it won't let me click the R where the M and S are. It won't allow me to click R to enable recording. I'm not finding any tutorials that explain why this happens or how to fix it. Do you know what I should do? I have my USB mic connected and selected as the source in all the ways that you've shared. But I'm stuck at this point. Thanks in advance if you can give me any tips to help.
Thank you VERY very much. I've been wanting to add some comments to some gameplay captures, to upload to UA-cam. This will do, not just "the voice over", but also a good workflow, and a proper scenario for that kind of purpose. Thanks again.
Super helpful, thank you. Hi Justin, I have a question I’m hoping you can help because I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find the information. I want to do delete the audio from the video and replace it with a voiceover plus adding some background music. The problem I’m having is when I start adding the voiceover I want to be able to start and stop it at certain points. So say I record the voiceover intro and it’s 10 seconds long, I want to end it there then and then next voiceover part at the 1 minute mark, do a voiceover for 2 minuets then end it and then again pick up at the 4 minute mark. How would I do that to keep in line with what is being shown on the video? I hope this makes sense. When I’ve tried doing it a whole new audio starts to record on a new track line and have to do the whole thing in one take and edit the audio then find its home. I’d like to be able to voiceover in real-time according to what I’m showing on my edited video. Thank you in advance for your help.
The "Mute Input" was a life saver. I could not figure out how to get rid of the echo... of course, Premiere Pro being Premiere Pro (making you jump through hoop after hoop just to do simple things) , simply muting the audio track I was getting the feedback from doesn't work... PP considers that track "off" at that point and won't let you record... WTF? Thank you for this video.
I followed all instructions, but when I go to 'Voice-over record setting' I don't see live tracking... shit. What could be wrong, please help! I have just plugged in stock apple headphones with mic into MacBook Pro's only audio jack. Can that be used as a mic? ...is that causing the problem? Thanks for you help. Am so frustrated.

and i fucking love it
thanks for your amazing tutorials
This helped me because for some reason my new Blue Yeti mic wasn't recording, thanks to your detail instructions!
Check security setting too: on Mac, settings>security&privacy>Privacy>microphone> make sure premiere pro is checked
This is what I needed thank you!
Thanks for the tip on muting input during audio recording. It took longer than I expected to figure out how to do that.
Thanks, Justin... I often end up coming back to you for quick tips... cheers dude!

Much appreciated sir! Very clear and easy to follow.
also when you Right-Click you often have to go into Voice Over Settings and select your mic input if you are using an external mic
When I press the "R" in audio track mixer it doesn't select or turn red.
