The same calipers are on all the 40i's aswell (different discs tho), plus some normal beamers that have the perf pack, so quite easy and reasonably cheap to get hold of

What about brake bias with 348mm caliper used in 360mm disc? It will brake bias to bigger value if only done in front, right?

Hi! Thanks alot for so detailed video! Quick question - will the g28 (new m3) brake calipers fit e92 m3? Also the mid sized calipers with 380mm discs probably wont clear 18 inch rims?

    Hi
I am busy building a 135i, I fitted a complete M3 rear subframe then I fitted M4 rotors and cslipers
I found that I needed to trim the dust cover and the plate behind the hand brake shoes, this was pushing against the rotor itself.
I used washers to space but not convinced its 100% so I got thicker ones today, will fit over the weekend.
The front with stock 135 hubs only allows me to use F30 370mm rotors, no washers/spacers needed.
I purchased M4 front rotors but the measurements on the death is 10mm shallower than the 135 and F30 rotors and that forces a big gap between calipers and mounting bracket, the out size of the rotors 380mm fits perfect.
I am still thinking if I should install the M3 hub carriers but that would mean new coilovers.
I could send photos if you like.

    • @vysgarage
      @vysgarage  3 роки тому

      Hi
Your best bet is to use 370 front rotors as the fitment is perfect.
If you use e92 m3 hub carriers, m4 calipers will not fit.
You can also space the calipers if you want to use the m4 rotor like you said but I don’t see the benefit of doing that.
WhatsApp me if you want, info is on my fb page. 👍🏻

Hi I've watched your videos about all the bmw brake set ups, very nicely explained by the way. I'm experiencing the clicking noise on My f30 brembo big brake set up on my car. They are the blue 4 pot caliper set up and the 380mm rotors. They are the dimpled slotted rotors and get the horrible click noise. Is this the air making this noise or the pads just going over the rotor making this noise. It's just on the nearside only all other rotors are fine, very minimal noise. Is there anything fix for this at all other than getting blank rotors. Your help will be much appreciated.

    • @vysgarage
      @vysgarage  2 роки тому

      Hi there,
I assume your brakes are quite new?
The reason they click is because of the dimples, they create a bubble wrap pop effect. The other side will be making the same noise, it’s just not as easy to hear it. If you drive next to a wall with your windows down, you’ll hear it. As the disc wear, brake pad deposits with fill
The dimples and sound will eventually stop, but it does take a long time.
      Hope this helps 👍🏻

Thanks for your clarification but I have to disagree with you entirely.
Just for the record, my method is completely safe and i did extensive research before publishing this video.
I also hold a degree in atomotive engineering and I work for a major atomotive oem as applications engineer, plus I have many years of experience with upgrading brakes for road and track use.
So firstly, you’re only sawing off the part of the pad that is redundant in this application, it does not come in contact with anything so it won’t safe anyone’s life.
Secondly, you are not disturbing pad retainers or shoulders or contact surface which are all critical characteristics.
If you would like to have a more in depth discussion about this, please pm the through Facebook and I’ll be happy to explain further.
      Thanks

@@vysgarage This is just not discussable for me. Selfmade cutting on any part of the brakepad are a no-go. Structural stability and heat absorption of the pad are definately weakened. Plain physics. Automotive degrees not even needed. So while you disagree, at least put a disclaimer somewhere to protect yourself next time someone bins his car with modded brakepads and referring to your video. Good luck.

@@TheLoomit I love when uneducated people such as yourself attempt to tell people with degrees how to do their job. It's just hilarious to me.

@@vysgarage hello. I just Purchased F Series M5 Calipers for the front. What rotors do I Need for the front set? The F Series M5 Rotors have a smaller center Hub than the F Series M3, so I Would assume that it is also too small of a center for the E9X as well. Can I use M5 Calipers on M4 Rotors? Please respond ASAP as I am attempting to purchase asap. By the way phenomenal video. Incredibly explained. You just didn't explain the necessary rotors for the Biggest Caliper option

      @@littleluxuryliving6805 hi,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
F10 m5 calipers are meant for 395x36 discs, your best bet is to machine out the centre bore of m5 disc to suit your hub. You can also run f80 discs but they are smaller and thinner, so you’d need to modify the carriers to bring the calipers closer to the centre and you should replace the pads when they’re down to 50% to compensate for the narrower discs.

@@vysgarage you truthfully are very well versed in Bavarian breaks. I greatly appreciate your knowledge. I will keep you posted and send pictures after the install. I have also purchased M4 Rear calipers and rotors for my E92.

Pointless if you need to reduce the size of the pad that’s not a clean option. Cheap perhaps but messy

I hope you all are aware that "frankensteining" your brake upgrade on a road car, will void your insurance.

Bet your life is fuckin boring you tory rat😂....you could for a start just tell your insurance, an even if you didn't the chances of someone realising or giving a fuck that youv upgraded your brakes is ridiculously low
