Great video. Just did this on the passenger side. I did not have to touch the air intake. Dealer quoted me $500 for the job. I bought the bulb for $150 and did it in 10 minutes. Don't forget to tighten the the clamp after installing the bulb. It rotates about 45 degrees or so.
Thank you for this...big savings over the $375 the dealer would have charged. But what I enjoyed and admired most about the video is the patience you showed you son who wanted so much to help. You are doubtless a great dad (with a great family).
Thank You for the video. My 2012 Audi Q5 drivers side head lamp went out. I called dealership and they quoted $350 if the ballast was still good. I went to Autozone and bought the HID replacement bulb. Followed your video and completed the job in about 20 mins.
Thank you very much for the video. I replaced left beam by myself at home. Used $13 a piece HID beam lamps from Amazon. It could be in 100s of dollars at the dealer!
You sir are a genius ... your wife does excellent camera work and your son can wrench on our Q5 anytime! The highly paid mechanic's lost or broke all but three of the shroud clips. Plus only the buttons are left. If anyone is questioning the bulb type it is printed clearly on the side of the assembly. I replaced both in under an hour. It would have been less, it was my first time. I'll gladly send you some cash through PayPal. Just let me know. Thanks for the useful information.
Thank you so much for making this video, we have a 2014 SQ5 with condensation build up inside the headlights and I needed a how to video on taking out the headlight for resealing.
So, if your fingers are dainty enough like mine are, you can literally do this without any tools. Bulbs are H7 and you can buy them at Walmart. Step 1: Remove cover. Step 2: Turn bulb and wires 30ish degrees counter clockwise. Bulb will slide out. Step 3: Pull out old bulb, replace with new bulb. Step 4: Put bulb back in and twist bulb/wire 30 degrees clockwise. Step 5: Replace cover. Step 6: Enjoy a 6 pack knowing you save yourself 30 minutes of life.
great vid dude. Took me 3X as long as it did you but you saved me money.....your son is awesome. He's gonna be a great master auto tech someday I bet 😂
Hello. I have a 2011 Q5 and I want to change the lights to led, but I'm not sure what light numbering to buy. It seems to me they are H7. You could confirm me?
Hi Lance, I noticed water getting inside one of the headlights of my 2012 Q5. After raining or washing the car, the headlight becomes foggy. To replace the whole headlight, the dealership quote came back insanely expensive. Any ideas on how to fix that?
Sorry for the late response. I dont remember the part number but I picked it up at car quest. They were able to pull up the specs from the year make model.
Does anyone know the part number or shop link of that plastic clip 0:19 ? I broke mine while removing it, I don't know where to buy the replacement part that will fit.
The simplest demo for replacing the bulb on a 2012 Q5! Thank you! My right bulb is out, I am gonna attempt the change myself! 😅
As a dad and mechanic, I find this video the most realistic version of the repair.
I'm sure this is exactly how my repair will go!
Yup. Exactly how it went. I even dropped the vapor plate down into the belly pan as well. Haha.

As a beginner changing the light on my car this video was just perfect. Thank you for sharing 👍🏼
We watched several and yours seemed the best. My 15 year old daughter replaced the bulb following this. Thank you!
Okay, you have convinced me to spend the $285 at the dealer - there's no way I wouldn't screw that up! lol
Take the front of the car of to change the bulb it’s ridiculous from Audi
Thank you very much for the video.

Perfect directions, saved me big $ for sure. I used 2 flatheads to pry up the clips, be very gentle and take your time or pieces go flying.
haha very true! patience is the hard part!
Thanks! And good job, Hendrix, you'll get the next one buddy.😊
The smallest person in the house needs the most attention. Only child I’m guessing. Thanks for video though exactly what I was looking for.
thanks for sharing this, helped me out a lot. I removed the airbox as part of it, just could nt see the connector.

Thanks again for this. The plastic ring which you can’t see really got me. Thanks for mentioning with way to turn it. It really helped a lot.
Bless you and all the father mechanics but I can't even finish this video
Thanks, very useful. I really like your family approach, you're giving more than one valuable message here. My respects.

Great video! Do I have to disconnect the battery before replacing the bulbs?
Thank you
Thank you 🙏🏾
Have you ever removed the entire headlight? I'm having issues and I'm going to try cleaning the lense but I can't find all the screws...
i have not removed the headlight fully. from what i understand it should slide all the way out without removing anymore screws.
Thank you. Very useful
