  • Dear Friends,
In our newest video, we tackle a common issue that plagues stringed instruments - the challenge of achieving the perfect balance with the high E string. We'll delve into one of the key factors influencing these problems: the relationship between the soundpost and the bridge.
The precise distance between the soundpost and the bridge plays a pivotal role. Join us on a journey through the nuances of this delicate equilibrium, as we discuss how to address issues arising from an overly strong or weak high E string.
Towards the end of the video, our talented musician, Agnese De Amicis, will demonstrate the transformation as she plays a violin with an overly strong E string before making the necessary adjustments. Discover the secrets to mastering this essential element in violin setup.

My first cheap cello sounded like a wet cardboard box, then I scraped the feet of the bridge to fit the top using lipstick like you showed and also adjusted the soundpost and it got a lot better. They did not have a good fit at first, they had like a 1mm ridge protruding along the side of the feet, like they had put sandpaper on the top and rubbed against it but missed a bit.
On my new €3500 cello I moved the soundpost a bit but ended up going back to where it was so it was set pretty well from the beginning.

Was wondering, if this sound post is so powerful, why it's not being used on acoustic guitars?

Hello Edgar I no my question is off topic related to this video but I do have a question that you could answer for me. I am in the process of learning how to make violins and hopefully in the future become a violin maker, my question is some of these instruments that you buy have a certificate of authenticity that comes with them but from what I've seen they're not a certificate it's an actual book. Could you do a video that better explains exactly what this is, because from what I've gathered if it's a printed book that documents everything through its construction, are those certificates expensive to have made up thank you for your time my friend and hope you have a good holidays coming up.
