- I am Dr Savita Sharma, MBBS ,PGDHIVM,working in an ART centre since 15 years.I feel that NACO is doing a lot for treatment and prevention of HIV but we also need to talk more frequently about HIV.Now its high time to open up and talk about HIV to remove stigma and discrimination related to this infection and to create an enabling environment for people living with hiv. STDs and HIV goes hand in hand.We need to emphasise the fact that STDs increase the chance of getting HIV and HIV in turn increases the severity of the STDs and also make their conventional treatment ineffective. If we create awareness about STIs and their treatment we can decrease the transmission of STIs and HIV.Condom promotion is required on a larger level to prevent STIs and HIV from spreading and causing harmful consequences in many.
