I can see why Sans went to collect the soul instead of Papyrus. He still wants to shelter him....keep him from seeing true battle...so he acts as the judge, as he did with Asgore.

Like Undyne once said during the Pacifist route: Papyrus isn't weak, he's actually pretty tough. He's just to innocent, too nice. I couldn't send him into battle, he'd be ripped to smiling shreds. Don't hold it to me if I said it wrong, but you get the idea. Pap does have the strength to be the king of monsters, but he just can't take another life even if his own depended on it. (The Genocide route proved it.) He was stuck at a cross roads between his morals to treat the human as he would a fellow monster, and the hope and joy of his people. I will be honest, despite how lazy Sans usually is, he gives Papyrus hope and strength no one else can. I guess that is who someone thought up the alternate universe where it was Sans that died in the Genocide route first rather than Papyrus, and why Papyrus would actually lose faith in the Human, because Sans is what gives Pap the strength to be able to believe in the good in anyone, no matter what they did before. Without Sans, Pap loses everything that allows him to see the good in everyone. Without his older sibling, he is unable to see the good behind the bad.
This is why I hate people who drag Asgore through the dirt for giggles. Sure, you see him as kind of an ambivalent pushover in game, lacking the backbone to stick to his guns, but you have to realize he's been having to deal with this every day for what could have been hundreds of years. He doesn't age since Asriel died, so we don't know the timeframe. If anything, next to Asriel, he's the most tragic character in the game.

I say Sans is up there in the tragedy, but if you were to only have done one playthrough in the pacifist route, he wouldn't have given up trying seeing as there haven't been any resets save for the times you've died. Even so, he's a tragic character. definitely note worthy.

She didn't like the fact they had to kill for the souls, but she didn't like the fact that Asgore was essentially being a coward and not going through with what he started even more. She calls him out on it during the pacifist run. Asgore was unnecessarily keeping everyone waiting and giving their hopes up because he was having second thoughts after he already got the whole thing into motion.
Asgore is at least 1000 years old while papyrus is born in 1997 which could mean that his age at 2015 ( not sure what the timeline in the game is ) would be 18 years old which isn't like 1000 years old

1. with the ending chat with pappy and sans, papyrus would have more sorrow in his voice also with sanses at the end when he went to take on the human.
2. if you wonder why sans is kinda sad or whatever is that only reason he would fight a human if you do a genocide run and you killing papyrus and a lot of the monsters is whats motivating him to fight you
he doesn't really want to fight this one because they are most likely innocent
3. your sans voice could have been deeper
4. the reason i say that is because his audio sample when he talks is deep
