Thanks for the upload of your videos. On my honeymoon in 1971 we drove our car along the rail bed to the bottom station - the track had been taken up many years before. In the 1980's, when on holiday with our family, we took the train down to bottom station - the children took turns on the footplate with the driver. A great railway!! Rivals our Puffing Billy just out of Melbourne. George
I too can remember driving down top and middle roads. Hopefully we will be running again soon (I'm a member and volunteer ). I must admit I think Puffing Billy is the best preserved railway in OZ. I also have quite a few videos of puffing billy on my channel ua-cam.com/users/JPNVideoAU
The line was unusable till May last year due to major works needing to be conducted, most efforts for the last several years were on track works. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zig_Zag_Railway
Awesome video! Can’t wait for them to be steamed back up! I have a suggestion since you guys are working on 218, I think you should paint her all black and maybe put a new whistle on her?
Thanks. I’m Glad you liked the video. I’m looking forward to seeing the zig zag back in operation too and getting some 4K video. I don’t have any say on what is being done on 218.
@AustralianRailwayVideos All I know is that the C17 934 is undergoing overhaul right now. Once that is complete, they plan on BB18 1079. No idea of any plans after that.
Hey so i just saw your reply to the other comment and was wondering what is currently happening with the zig zag i knew that it burnt down in the winmalee fires which sucks cause i remember coming to this place as a kid back around in 2009-2011 but i was just wondering if you could give me an update on if you guys are rebuilding or something? id really love to see this place in action again!
Jaydan jm at this stage the focus is on getting 218 running and the rail infrastructure back up to scratch. Unfortunately I think is going to be a long time before we see any work done on 402
NSW Australia. The Zig Zag railway operates on the top and middle roads of the Lithgow Zig Zag which where part of the original route down the western side of Blue Mountains (west of Sydney) into Lithgow.

I love the zig zag railway
Yes it's a special place. Hopefully we (I'm a member)will be running again in the not too distant future.
At 1:14:09, that part of the railway where 1072 was looked unfamiliar. Was it the other track section past Clarence Station?
Its the road crossing East of Clarence Station on the extension to Newness Junction (google maps reference G6GG+M76 Clarence, New South Wales)
My childhood.

What weird signal movements.
Be good when all the delays are over and the "Hogwart's Express" runs can happen once more.

We are slowing moving towards reopening to the public, hopefully some time in 2019.
