    Hi everyone! I am sorry for missing a few weeks of videos! I'm back into it again and all good! It is great to be back in the studio! This is just a fun watercolour showing that you can just work simply and play on a small scale and see what you can come up with. It is still good to see if you can have some light lights and dark darks to make the painting work from a distance.
    Happy painting everyone!

    This is a little gem Scott. Thank you! I love they way you lifted out the lights for the foreground trees. What a beautiful balance of loose and detail. Glad you are back. Hope all is well.

    I doubt I will ever stop painting watercolor 2 years strong painting everyday. As a person in recovery it keeps me alive, I may take it to an extreme though. Sometimes I paint to much if that's possible.

    Cool, I just spotted this live now! One thing I've noticed in your videos is how you use all the space around the paper. It gives you freedom of movement which gives your paintings that light and soft energy feel to them. I think I'll need to sort out my painting space to give me a wider area free of clutter.
    I love experimenting, so this video is a fantastic inspiration to continue my haphazard but fun approach to watercolour. Love your work Scott, I'm always recommending you to others.

    • @ScottSwinson
      @ScottSwinson  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Mark! Yes the freedom to paint past the edges of the paper is important. It is why most of the time I like to attach a single piece of paper to a board and the board is best if it extends out past the size of the paper by at least a few inches even more! Also I like to paint standing as it frees up my body to move as I paint which I think allows me to paint more freely compared to sitting. I appreciate many people would have issues standing for hours. You are very observant!

    I love this one Scott! The depth you created with the tree and grassy knoll in the foreground is fabulous! Thank you for another wonderful lesson - less is more! The light and softness is great! No apologies necessary- we all love you and what you bring to watercolor painting! I am proud to be a patreon of yours! 💕

      Hi Sue! Thanks so much! I agree, like you say, the most important thing is the happiness each one of us gets from painting or watching others paint and to learn and grow. Thanks for your lovely words! Happy painting!

    Welcome back! You’re an inspiration. I’m curious how you frame your paintings. Do you buy them ready made?

    • @ScottSwinson
      @ScottSwinson  2 роки тому

      Hi Sue! Thanks! good to be back! Most of the time, because I use unusually shaped pieces of paper when doing finished watercolours, I have to get them framed. To be honest these days I try and sell original work unframed. It saves me money and the customer can find a frame they like that suits the space they are putting the artwork up in. It's much more cost effective to buy ready made frames you just have to make sure the mat has acid free paper and pulp otherwise it will turn yellow/brown over time. Thanks Sue!
