I’m a EMD dispatcher as well and still in the 6 month training and my trainers are rude, unwilling to help and talk about the trainees behind our back. I told the Captain and was advised to not let them bother me and to prove them wrong...job is already stressing to deal with - now the toxic coworkers on top of that have to be ignored when you need their help??
Oh girl, her issues were probably jealous of your skills! You are a wonderful and beautiful woman of God. Sadly, their are teachers and trainers in every field that should NOT be training or managing people! I am actually looking to go back into dispatching. Idk how you do it in Texas, but Ohio we have certain counties where the dispatcher only dispatched fire/EMS or LEO and as a former EMT, that’s what I want to do. But, I would love to talk to you more bc my dream job is Tarrant County, Texas. I know Texas has some different licensing or certification requirements than the Midwest.
Hey there! I sure hope not because she was great at her job! I mean I was excited at first because she was so knowledgeable. But I had seen her interactions with other trainees and she had some something very ugly to me at one point. I still respected her for her knowledge but she sucked in dealing with people. My agency we did Police fire and EMS additionally we dispatched FD for a few other cities! Good luck with everything!
@@kabutoyakushi6618 You have no idea of the toxic and bizarre behaviors that happen in a dispatch room. My floor had over 25 “type-A” personalities and people didn’t like that I came in with more education and more training that most. Jealousy has to do with self esteem and their insecurities. I have actually seen trainers be exactly that of their trainees bc they are getting more time, better pay coming in, and just about anything under the sun.
Currently going through having negative trainers and feeling like I’m horrible. But starting to see that the trainers are just mean, bitter, and sometimes be jealous of us African Americans or young people like myself doing good. I’m hoping all goes well and I overcome the b.s
at my last job i left, not dispatch, but working for a transportation, company; the black women there were actually extremely rude, belittling, dismissive, and yes, racist, they showed favor to just other black folks, especially females, a few of te white or Hispanics got along with that group, most everyone else just avoids the team leads and coworkers between that crap and the huuuuge amount of gossip and drama; just, no. i aint into that mess, and treating folks like your voice is invalid but theirs is the only one that needs to be heard, screw that. i ditched that job quickly, im going into 911 dispatch, so far, everyone i have met has been very nice, friendly respectful and attentive to everyone equally. hopefully it stays like that.
@@Shannonbarnesdr1 we’ll update it definitely was still hard with the few people who were rude. But I’m still employeed and I’ve moved on from the bs training experience. You still get few coworkers who try you but as long as I’m good and can make a difference through my actions I’ll be good for now until I find another option as good as right now. However congrats to you Shannon I hope you enjoy 911 and make the best out of it fr. I’m learning that of course not all people are bad there but it’s just hard to accept that this is the work environment at times.
Your trainer sounded childish, unprofessional and lacked communication skills. She shouldn’t be in charge of training for something so serious and important.
What upsets me more about this is you went up the ladder and they did nothing about it. Sadly that’s 90% of work places today and I hate it. I’d rather not work with other humans and just be on my own as to not deal with morons.
I’m going on my fourth day of dispatch tmrw! I’m lucky that everyone I’ve met so far is really helpful and sweet!! Thanks for making these videos, it really helped me with preparing for my work!!!! ❤️
I worked as a 911 dispatcher from 1984 to about 2002. A toxic work environment for sure. Constantly understaffed, thankless, underpaid, overworked with the wrong people getting promoted to supervisor jobs. I finally looked around and found a job where I was appreciated and made a lot more money as soon as I left.
Hey there!!! Yes you are right!! It often sucks because employers lose really good people because of really bad people. But it’s ok… I look at it as a new opportunity to make a difference!
@@arisguess8756 I've been working as a system operator for a utility company for 20 years now. Will retire in about 2 more. I make a lot more money and I'm not treated as 2nd class.
I think you should've reported it might have saved another young dispatcher's career.. She's a trainer she has the future of a lot of people in her hands, and she has to learn how to be an adult and separate the personal from professional. Do I think she would've got fired? Probably not(if all she said was she didn't like you). But I think starting the investigation would've showed her that she's not exempt from scrutiny.
I’m going thru the same exact thing.... I’m about to trying another department cause I know it’s not going to get better. She’s a horrible bully and belittles me to where I’m almost in tears every day. On my drive home I’m crying the whole 45 minutes. I loved my job until I got to her. Nobody will listen to me. I’m just done.
Do you feel like a toxic work environment is more common in dispatch jobs? I have a conditional offer at an agency, but all i read is horror stories of poor trainers, like you just described and how most people just want to quit before training is even over. Plus I feel like overtime is something that happens more than they let on, it sounds like it’s going to be non stop work until you reach seniority?
Work is work🤷♂️, you don’t go to work to fuq off. There are toxic people in every line of work, if you can’t learn to deal with them then you better not leave home.
@@doodlegoose2262 orrrrr management can do their job and keep toxicity out of the workplace. There's always going to be people you don't totally connect with, of course, but being toxic / abusive is something that is fully on management to prevent.
this seems to be most jobs/ careers these days, its sad but the caliber and quality of society and community has just gone to pot over the years and its not getting any better.
Had a very similar situation with getting trained. Just put my two week notice in today, it’s not easy when the person who’s training you discourages you throughout the process. She even told me she deserved to get paid more for training me lol. Toxic work environment was just not it for me. It just added stress on top of the stress that this job already comes with. Thanks for posting this!
Oh wow!!! I hate that for you because it was a tough experience for me. I like peace and working in a stressful place with stressed out ppl is tough. Wishing you the best!
Heyyyy!!!! awww thank you so much!! You don't know how BAD I want to take it down girl!! I'm trying to figure out which day this week I am changing it up!! hehe!! Thanks for watching girlie!
It’s so sad this happens as often as it does. I quit my job at the post office for this very reason, my trainer had a terrible attitude every day. Just miserable and complained constantly. If you don’t want to be a trainer communicate that with your supervisor. My co workers were just as bad treating the new hires like red headed step children, as if being disrespectful is some kind of initiation test to see who can last. The pay was great and the benefits but no job is worth overwhelming stress or your mental health. Bless you ❤️
In spite of that, I wish to be a dispatcher. It's true that new coworkers and trainers are something to be a little concerned about. I hope everyone grades me fairly and impartially.
As a trainer, I will never tell another employee other than other trainers and my direct supervisor about my trainees and their progress. People ask me and I blunt out tell them it’s not their business. That trainer was very immature should not be a trainer.
I was officer training when injury closed that door. I was offered dispatch and jumped at it 1980. We had quarterly reviews as probation was one year. If you transfer to another office you have to be evaluated by supervisors at the home office and then when you transfer you have to start over and be reviewed by new supervisor. This means you have several evaluations per year. I transfered from an office of 45 dispatchers and 3 supervisors to an office with 9 dispatchers and one lousy supervisor. Long story short, one of my co workers announced to me incest was a father's right and tried to kiss me. The next day I told my supervisor and said I would never work alone with him again! She said hes just really friendly. She took it to the Captain who said I was a trouble maker get rid of me. They made my life a living hell so I quit. This idiot was later arrested and charged with over 30 counts of child molesting. My Lt and supervisor testified as character witnesses on his behalf! He was convicted because they proved incest with resulting children. After prison he did it another two times and is now listed as violent sexual preditor! I had outstanding evaluations until this idiot ruined my career, but my life turned out wonderful!
I come to youtube instead of movie theaters, because the stories in the comment section are outrageous and keep far more entertained. Sorry to hear all that and that you are doing better, the fact the guy told you those things perhaps was a far cry for help. who knows, but in country middle states of the u.s.a such occurances are norm. like incest having sex with your family. thats why I wouldnt want to be in them coutnry places
Let me be real with you. I am always super nervous before a test, doesn't matter what its for or how well I am prepared. I definitely wanna say that your videos giving information about the criticall testing and the hiring process really helped me calm down instead of being in my own head about it. It sucks that there was all this drama when you really looked like you did really well as a 911 dispatcher, as far as your personality is concerned. Happy for you though!
Hey Joe! So glad I could help you out! I too get nervous... but knowing what to expect helps A LOT!! I hope all goes well for you and thanks for watching!
Wow I was released today after 252 hours it’s very overwhelming but I love it my trainer during that time has become my best friend lol at work and off the clock so grateful for my experience so far
Oh girl! I needed to see this today. I am experiencing the same treatment for no reason at my job in the dental field. You are so beautiful, inside and out. Please don’t allow ignorant people to dim your light. Keep spreading the love my beautiful friend. 💗✨
Noooooo 😱😱😱! Butttt I’m glad it’s something you enjoyed! Unfortunately you had a terrible coach. Buttt you liking it Makes me feel great about my decision.
Jessica Reyes hehe!!! Yea and the crazy thing about her is that she is so smart and knowledgeable but a horrible teacher. Yes I loved it!! Never will bash it because it was fun and it’s not a lot of people that can do the job!! You’re of an elite group of people!!!
That's too bad cuz you seem like you would be really good at that job, but you can't deal with toxicity and/or toxic people; you are better off, young lady!
Hello Laura Bryant, I currently have an appointment to do all of the above. Looking to speak to you about the 911 communicator test....please let me know how we can talk for me to get some tips. Thank you
I totally agree with you. I just want to go in and do my job. Drama is so behind me. I do stand up for myself and some people just don't like that. Respect the Individual. That is how I treat people and hope I get treated with the same respect. But if not, I just move on.
I appreciate your video,i thought about being a 911 dispatcher, you are professional.Thank you, like you say,you must have a passion for whatever you want to be good at,this is what makes everyone great,musicians,doctors,singers,911 dispatchers etc. again thank you for your imput!
Thank you so much for watching and for your nice comment!! It is some thing you have to be called to do otherwise you will not make it. It’s hard and but worth every hardship!

Hi Laura, just want to say thank you for your wonderful videos. I have watched many of them through my process of applying for and now waiting to begin working in a dispatching position, but I had not seen this one until today. I'm sorry to hear about how you were treated there. At the same time, however, it's encouraging to hear that you had such a positive experience working in 911 otherwise. My academy begins next month and I'm a little nervous but also pretty excited. Unfortunately it seems like as with many industries, there is a good amount of toxicity in the 911 field, and so I'm hoping that my department will be different. Thanks again and all the best to you in all your pursuits!
I do understand what you are saying and what you was going through, I am a resident counselor, and let me tell you , the manager that was supposed to train me , was late every day and then had a temp from the temp agency to train me, which makes the stuff she was saying and asking me to do. It was just common sense that it wasn’t right didn’t look right didn’t quack right and it showing up didn’t walk right once I brought it to management attention, the word was out that I was a troublemaker so on and so forth and even to this day, I still have not received the proper training. I have one manager tell me I’m not capable of being a man and a manager position and I was like I’m just trying to drain to get to know the hang of everything learn what I need to learn so I can move forward, so I go to work every day to be ignored when I asked questions to certain things on documentation management wrote it as walk away put the earplugs in so basically I just go to work for eight hours and sit there and look crazy. I'm American Indian and I work in Washington state. WA state is quite racist. I worked in retail and that's where I had most exposure to that negative behavior.
I just came across your video and I'm not interested in being a 911 dispatcher, however I do know about working in a toxic work environment. Your trainer sounds like a bitter overworked witch. Just what you described in your video , I can tell that she didn't like her job and was unprofessional writing letters about you to other coworkers 🙄. I was a Quality Control Auditor and this particular inspector had personal issues with me and made my job even more stressful. It was a job while I was going to college and I just kept maintaining my composer with her petty drama and trying to intimidate me. I had to constantly keep telling myself I'm almost finished with school and this job is part of my journey, not my destination. Our peace of mind is more valuable at times and I'm glad I got out of that toxic place and I hope you're doing well today 😇🙌🤞
Someone once told me that their job was not to get paid for someone else to come steal their job! But when you do something that you’re not sure of, the berating was not to be missed. Lately, there has been way more jobs with toxic folks like this and it is just increasing. This is not isolated to one job but rather widespread to every job there is.
ive been a 911 dispatcher for 26years its incredible that we are not considered 1st responders, our center is budgeted for 43 people we have 22 and thats the way its been since 2017, im so done with this job and the adminstration i work for, we are all burnt out and show signs of ptsd but noone gives a f;*#, ff's get the credit, cops same thing, comms not a mention... great video..
Hi Laura, Thank you so much for this video request! It’s so unfortunate that you went through such a negative experience. You can only be successful with the tools, or in this case, with the training you are given. It’s awful to have a miscommunication with another individual especially one that is placed in a position to teach. It’s obvious that this trainer had some personal issues with you and was trying to sabotage your evaluation. Based on what you’ve told us she was absolutely not the right person to be in the capacity to train you or anyone else for that matter. How awful that the response from your training department was just as ineffective as your trainer especially after you told them of the grievance. Their “could care less attitude” was setting you up to fail. It’s a shame because they lost a good person who was passionate about helping others and they failed to see that. They are indeed very lucky that you did not pursue things further up especially after learning that this trainer had already divulged her contempt against you to another colleague. I get the impression that she may have been envious of your abilities to excel. Ive heard of many instances where supervisors feel threatened by those who are intelligent and passionate about their jobs, fear that they will be surpassed and overlooked, that they are compelled to do anything within their authority to stop that from happening. You did the right thing in standing up for yourself. I am happy to hear that you finally found a job that you are truly passionate about. I believe in divine intervention and sometimes these things happen for a reason. “God won’t give you more than you can handle” and where you are at right now is where you need to be. You sound like a strong, compassionate, intelligent person and any employer would be fortunate to have you! Stay strong always! 🙏
btapann awwww this is very nice! I appreciate your words! I never have dealt with anything like that before. None the less it’s over and I learned a lot!!
So when i was working for a major city in Texas I had the same issue i was bounced between 6 different people and they all had different teaching styles so half my training was just sitting in dispatch listening, I don't think i received the proper training that i should've received. One trainer was so awful i'd cry in my car on the way home. Did i stay there no, would i do the job again yes.
Yeah, that’s exactly what they tell you to suck it up deal with it. I had to direct her to ask me. I need a seriously think about if I wanna work for this job or be in this line of work shaking my head.
So update; I got the job and have been working for about 6 (give or take) months. I’m back watching this video in particular because I’m contemplating on leaving - partly due to training but also due to me missing my family since I work nights :( I love this job but I’m on the fence of leaving sadly
Wow!! I'm completely flabbergasted!! I went through the EXACT same situation!!!? The only difference is, my first training officer, little Ms popular"the schoolyard bully" didn't like me off the bat. Was rude, acted like she didn't want to train me, all that childish crap. I request a different trainer, and low and behold, they assigned me one, but, little Ms bully already had it settled with my new trainer". See, before this, this new trainer was sweet to me, always willing to help me, ect. As soon as this happened with Ms bully, her demeanor changed and she was treating me the same way and reporting the exact same lies in my daily report as ma bully did. Again, I brought it to the attention of the director, and again, I get another trainer".. great friend of the first two snakes. She treated me the same way. I actually walk into the break room and find the 3 laughing about me and what they were doing to me. It's a bunch of bullshit and being new, you'll never stand a chance. I loved my job and desired so much to be the best dispatcher I could be, but I was sabotogged. They actually allowed it. They all work together no matter what. So unfair and wrong. Anyhow, I ended up getting failed for "not responding to training" as all the three witches reported on my progress reports. I was hurt, I cried, and felt cheated. Well to hell with these snakes now because I hear they were all fired for using the NCIC system illegally. Lol they were in on it together too.. karma is a little B++*h...ain't it??
I’m learning that this kind of things happen working for the government I work in a bail office and I’m handicapped and because I don’t gossip and stick to myself mostly I’ve been targeted. The suck it up and deal with it is real. I bid for the 911 position and I take my test next week someone actually tried to throw salt on my name to them. These people be miserable and pitiful and sadly it be our own that do it to us
I have heard of this behavior before, and it tends to happen to positive and hardworking employees. After hearing it repeatedly, I noticed some similar situations. Typically there is an upcoming promotion and supervisors or supervisor has decided they are giving the promotion to one of their favorites, but they know it will look bad so they start playing those mind games or gaslighting the employees that are truly deserving but can not justify not offering them the promotion. This Trainer knew exactly what she was doing. She either wanted you to quit or intimidate you enough not to challenge her. She had the opportunity to address this issue with you and the Training Department. She did not say anything because she had nothing to backup her claim. Unfortunately, these scenarios can also be racially motivated, when employers want to promote an unqualified employee over you. Very sad, sorry you had to experience this awful situation.
That really sucks that you had to encounter that miserable person. SHE SUPER SUCKS, and that is straight up karma for her dumb-ass !!! Well, it's nice to hear you are doing your "PASSION," because that is what is really meant for you ! You deserve all the greatness that you are and offer to the world. Thank you for sharing !!! BTW, you are my inspiration in my journey to becoming a dispatcher. I'll be taking my Post-battery this coming Monday !!!
Could you shine some light on the drug testing? I have a sit along scheduled in 2 weeks. I’m a bit of heavy stoner but I am willing to detox for the job. 💕
hahahaha! I'm only laughing because I can relate to your concern! I am an ex smoker from CO. When it came to drug testing, I remember feeling so uneasy because I had to dilute in a short period of time and I feared the panel would catch it. Did you end up passing? I realize that your comment is a year old, but, I, too am curious to know because I feel like urine testing is more advanced and sensitive compared to what they used to be like. I really don't know if that is true...it is just my opinion. and, this sounds horrible, but Polygraphs are easier to get away with because that test is basically looking for any signs of anxiety. They depend on people's responses to mock crimes, which probably don't reflect real-world emotions. When accused of an actual crime, many people understandably become anxious, even if they're innocent.
I have an jackass coworker here too. Exactly the same . I work in parole and probation . I am trying to hard to pass the criticall..... now I may think about anything to escape this B . Lol wish me luck on my 3rd time testing ......
Ok this is REALLY freaky! Lol first off.. our passions are exactly the same--serving ppl and non profit work. I was a fire dispatcher here in FL and our story is basically EXACTLY the same!!!! I had an issue with a trainer who didnt like me and talked about me before she knew anything about me. She was a much senior dispatcher and many were intimidated by her. She had a strong personality but I never really cared because she seemed nice to me.. until, like you, i found out otherwise and then she was given to me as a trainer. She did not want to help me, she was mean and would take over my calls, yell at supervisors, battalions, etc and once she put her hands on me (this was her second offense as she did this with a trainee in the class right before mine) I went to training and they told me to suck it up because I would be black balled.. they told me not to say anything and to stay with her UNTIL I told them about her putting her hands on me which I did NOT want to tell them about because she didnt violently hit me, but it was not welcomed nor appreciated. After that, she ate some humble pie because there were now two trainees saying the same thing and she could no longer lie on the other girl and say she was making it up. I got a new trainer after that and unfortunately my DORs were the same.. not responding to training which wasnt true but I realize that dispatch culture is the same no matter where you go (I have other dispatcher friends in other agencies that share similar stories) and its veryyyy unfortunate that senior dispatchers often have the ability to decide who they want to "sit with them" .. if they dont like how you look, talk, or cuz their "friend" doesn't like you they can put whatever they want on the DOR. It was incredibly stressful and infuriating. I cried a LOT. I became anxious and depressed. I tried until I couldnt and practically begged them to let me go. Other than that I loved the job itself but the ppl, often catty women, made the job full of drama and I HATE that. I stay in my own lane and typically get along with any/every one. But even wtbs, I'm still giving it another shot!
yes I love what I did as a 911 dispatcher but I did not enjoy the culture completely. with every job you have a group of friends or a group of people who you talk to the most and those of the people that make going to work a little easier.I’ve since gotten a lot better with dealing with stressed individuals so it’s nothing! Thank you for watching and keep me posted on the process
I think that this is a good question everyone can relate to. A long time ago I used to ask others the same thing when caught in unforeseen circumstances. At the end of the day life is too short to deal with unnecessary drama/bullshit and you just need to recognize your self-worth. I personally don't think that she allowed someone else to determine her career path, I think it helped her analyze her true calling in the non profit sector.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that & it was real messed. People don't need to have a reason to not like you, they just don't. Let me tell you something, there was this call center job (not criminal justice related at all) & my team lead was like always watching me I mean literally watching me all day everyday like weird. I have a strong personality but most don't see me upset but I will stand up for myself & others. I already knew what was up but I wanted her to outright say it & she did. Girl thought I was after her job. I told her straight up that I wasn't & if I was, I would have her job already & walked off. You should have seen her face hit the floor. I read my credentials to girl & girl got even more nervous. She'll be aight. She was the type to dirty things to get where she was & it bothered the hell outta her to see that someone did the same thing the right way. I can understand why you left & I don't blame you. You have to grab your own bits of peace & standing your ground...especially where they don't have your back as an employee, time to bounce. You can only play you agains all of them for so long & it's draining & stressful like a bad marriage or relationship period.
Laura Bryant Amen to that & I am so proud of you for standing your ground & trust, she'll run into someone far worse than her one day. As my late grandmother always said, "time changes things."
Liz Andrews yes honey you are right!! After I left she had some pretty serious issues happen. I wasn’t the first she treated this way. It’s crazy because you’re already dealing with stress from the job and the last thing u need is an A-Hole trying to bring you down!! I don’t have to take that from her or anyone else!
Trust, I know how you feel many times over. That's called "God don't like ugly" & "you reap what you sow." Sad thing is that she probably still hasn't learned a damn thing. Smh. That's the thing with some employers, they forget you're an employee & you're not obligated to work for them. The United States in general is full of hiring employers. Ijs. I have a devil in my life too & they too will reap what they sow except my devil is in my personal life. It gets to me sometimes (annoys) but I try to keep smiling & do what's best for me & my kids' future. People see you progressing & hate you for it. People see that you speak well or is highly educated & they have something negative to say. People see you were fortunate in something they were flat out told no on they hate you for it or even that they have to be an adult & deal with problems they created but you catch hell for it. I'm hanging on to God because I know he has me & my kids' back & he has yours too. I've only known you a short period of time but know you well enough to have already known that you weren't the problem at all. She has too much time on her hands. Maybe she should be answering those calls.
I have been there and it sucks when your career/job is in the hands of someone who has personal and inner issues. Sad part is that when you speak up for your self they kinda don't listen to you because they see all trainers as part of the department so they all stick for each other. 😞 but the way I see it is that they missed out on a great human who was willing to help other people. You doing these videos helped out so many people and as humans on this earth, we need your kind.🙂 i hope Everything works out for a you and theres a reason why things happen and God may have better opportunities for you right around the corner.😉😇 but also remember that carma is a crazy thing and they way she treated you someone above her some day will probably treat her the same way. Nothing is guaranteed and if you don't help others God will judge your actions as well. Keep doing your videos!😊😊 I have a test coming up and pray to God I can pass it.🤞🤞😇
Thank you so much for your encouraging words! God has blessed me on levels I will never understand and for that I am grateful! My career now is amazing and I am doing what I truly love the most!! Thanks for watching!
Great question!! NO! You can only get overtime after you are released to answer phones on your own and then at the agency I worked for you could only do 20 hours per week OT... Trust me that gets old Realllll fast!
I was a 9-1-1 dispatcher for 7 years and 8 months until I turned 62 and retired. What you are saying sounds all too familiar. You sound like you would've been an awesome dispatcher, buy they really set you up to fail. You were right to leave. 9-1-1 dispatch centers complain about not being able to attract and keep people.
Me thinks you are correct Kia!

@@doodlegoose2262 I doubt she's playing. Black people would rather not have this problem.
at my last job i left, not dispatch, but working for a transportation, company; the black women there were actually extremely rude, belittling, dismissive, and yes, racist, they showed favor to just other black folks, especially females, a few of te white or Hispanics got along with that group, most everyone else just avoids the team leads and coworkers between that crap and the huuuuge amount of gossip and drama; just, no. i aint into that mess, and treating folks like your voice is invalid but theirs is the only one that needs to be heard, screw that. i ditched that job quickly, im going into 911 dispatch, so far, everyone i have met has been very nice, friendly respectful and attentive to everyone equally. hopefully it stays like that.
Okay! Girl I had the same problem with my trainer! She made my life a living hell for 4 months! Thanks for posting this video
why what did she do
Your trainer sounded childish, unprofessional and lacked communication skills. She shouldn’t be in charge of training for something so serious and important.
I concur... but I had to remove myself because I knew it would not get better with her. But I praise God because I am so happy with where I am now!
@@LauraBryant where are you now?
May I ask what job you decided to work after dispatch?
@@arisguess8756 I've been working as a system operator for a utility company for 20 years now. Will retire in about 2 more. I make a lot more money and I'm not treated as 2nd class.
I think you should've reported it might have saved another young dispatcher's career.. She's a trainer she has the future of a lot of people in her hands, and she has to learn how to be an adult and separate the personal from professional. Do I think she would've got fired? Probably not(if all she said was she didn't like you). But I think starting the investigation would've showed her that she's not exempt from scrutiny.
I’ve reported things in my situation I’m an amputee and I’m black, and reporting only made things worse nothing changes

I hope that you found a resolution. Keep your head up. Don’t allow anyone to make you feel like you’re not worthy. 💜
Do you feel like a toxic work environment is more common in dispatch jobs? I have a conditional offer at an agency, but all i read is horror stories of poor trainers, like you just described and how most people just want to quit before training is even over. Plus I feel like overtime is something that happens more than they let on, it sounds like it’s going to be non stop work until you reach seniority?
the work environment is toxic... at least where i was.

Had a very similar situation with getting trained. Just put my two week notice in today, it’s not easy when the person who’s training you discourages you throughout the process. @@LauraBryant you kinda cute ☺️ are you single?
It’s so sad this happens as often as it does. I quit my job at the post office for this very reason, my trainer had a terrible attitude every day. Just miserable and complained constantly. If you don’t want to be a trainer communicate that with your supervisor. My co workers were just as bad treating the new hires like red headed step children, as if being disrespectful is some kind of initiation test to see who can last. The pay was great and the benefits but no job is worth overwhelming stress or your mental health. Bless you ❤️
Same reason I left post office after a few months. Not the trainer but the coworkers were terrible. They would set you up to fail.
In spite of that, I wish to be a dispatcher. It's true that new coworkers and trainers are something to be a little concerned about. I hope everyone grades me fairly and impartially.
Your very smart , I'm sure you will succeed in any career. Thank you for sharing your personal dispatch story.
Darla Sweet you are so welcome!!! Thanks for watching!! Keep watching there is more goodness to come!!!

Thank you so much for watching! Yes that was a rough experience but I am better because of it! Good luck to you.
Just started my training and definitely realizing I should do the same
Girl I had to learn that if it was causing me unhappiness and I could move around it was best! My happiness is priority to me! Thanks for watching!
I try to engage with the clients and she walk around recorded with her cell phone the management does so I’m really considering leaving this company and moving forward
Is the training paid and is a job guaranteed after training is complete?
I'm American Indian and I work in Washington state. WA state is quite racist. I worked in retail and that's where I had most exposure to that negative behavior.
Washington state is super liberal so not sure what you're talking about. Go to Idaho if you wanna feel a racist area.
Even if you are overworked though, there's no excuse to abuse another employee. I don't like when people make excuses for other people's bad behavior.
Someone once told me that their job was not to get paid for someone else to come steal their job! But when you do something that you’re not sure of, the berating was not to be missed. Lately, there has been way more jobs with toxic folks like this and it is just increasing. This is not isolated to one job but rather widespread to every job there is.

When your training do you get paid?
That really sucks that you had to encounter that miserable person. SHE SUPER SUCKS, and that is straight up karma for her dumb-ass !!! Could you shine some light on the drug testing? I have a sit along scheduled in 2 weeks. I’m a bit of heavy stoner but I am willing to detox for the job. 💕
Daniel Medellin hey Daniel! Yea I had to do a urine test... also had to do a polygraph as well. If you can pass the polygraph you’ll be fine
Did you pass?
When accused of an actual crime, many people understandably become anxious, even if they're innocent.
update: no i did not pass 😂 the typing part not the drug test

I have an jackass coworker here too. Exactly the same . I work in parole and probation . I am trying to hard to pass the criticall..... now I may think about anything to escape this B . Lol wish me luck on my 3rd time testing ......
whats your new job called?
I'm trying to change careers from teaching English to do dispatching. Do you know any former teachers who became dispatchers?
okaminess saaame!!! The pay is a major difference
So you allowed someone else to determine your career path though? Why?
I think that this is a good question everyone can relate to. A long time ago I used to ask others the same thing when caught in unforeseen circumstances. At the end of the day life is too short to deal with unnecessary drama/bullshit and you just need to recognize your self-worth. I personally don't think that she allowed someone else to determine her career path, I think it helped her analyze her true calling in the non profit sector.

Do you go through training with your job or did you seek further education ?
Nope training at work!
when i was a dispatcher i preferred the radio side
Who doesnt?!
I know I am late, but what other field did you go into?
Liz Andrews you are so right!! I’m not about to deal with that from anyone! I’ll find me another job n roll out!!
@@LauraBryant I had something like this happen. It took a lot out of me and I didn't understand the hate. I did stick it out and I love my job now.
Do they pay you the training?
Question can you get as much overtime as you want?
Great question!! NO! You can only get overtime after you are released to answer phones on your own and then at the agency I worked for you could only do 20 hours per week OT... Trust me that gets old Realllll fast!
why do you have to put so much of your business on them applications?
Yea that’s how they move
wow. couldn't cut it in a serious work environment and went straight to the non profit grift. great.
Who in their right mind wants to work in a hostile work environment? My work environment was great at first, but rhen it went sour and I got out.
+Laura Bryant My comment has nothing to do with your video: I love your teeth, it had to be said.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!!
Welcome to life.
Y0UR FIRED!!
You were probably a much better dispatcher all around than she is
I have my interview friday morning and im really nervous. What kinds of questions should i be expecting? Ive never workeda 911 job before.
@ Caitlin Williams How did it go?? I'm suppose 2 take my Assessment Test Monday
@@lakeishaw.brayboy8755 i was pretty nervous in the beginning so I felt i could've definitly answered some of the questions better but calmed down and answered better afterward. I don't know yet if they want me to move forward in the process i havent heard anything yet. They said it would take longer cuz of the holidays. But it was only 2 people I was expecting several so that was a relief.
@@lakeishaw.brayboy8755 thw assessment isnt hard just make sure you are well rested and focused. I had to take mine twice. The first time I accidently skipped one of the practice parts and got confused as to what I was supposed to be doing luckily she gave me a second chance.
@@Iwillrise1111 good luck!!🤗
@@lakeishaw.brayboy8755 thanks u as well =)

I know!! If your channel becomes monetized you will understand! Happy Sunday!
@@LauraBryant have no interest. Just a youtube watcher. But thanks!
Laura, do you think it was racism?
Heyyy... No I don't! I don't like to assume things like that and there was nothing that indicated she was. I can not say that was the issue and I don't want to assume! Everything is not about race!
Oh god lets play the racist card ..here it comes.. That didnt take long. Somebody calll sharpton
She lied on you by saying disrespectful and rude. What was the reason? She also said you weren’t responding to training. She slandered your character.
Lol you give me Taurus vibes
This shit should have been 1/2 AS LONG!!!!
I try to engage with the clients and she walk around recorded with her cell phone the management does so I’m really considering leaving this company and moving forward
