- Buck Trent gives history of his Sho-Bud electric banjo with pitch changers. Pickup installed by Shot Jackson and pitch changers installed by David and Harry Jackson circa
Absolutely a crying shame he is not in the hall of fame. Such an originator and one of the best sidemen in the history of country music.
This is the REAL electric banjo… not an “electrified” banjo as in some on UA-cam…
Buck Trent is the master of this electric banjo!
RIP Buck Trent! You will always be one of the Greats! Now you can pick with your buddy Roy Clark again!
Sho bud does not make banjos anymore I think that was only a 1970s thing with sho bud also making guitars and a few mandolins to try to get into a instrument business and expand past steel guitars. I consider myself fortunate to be able to own one and I found it in Wilmington NC. It’s not electric I think that’s something buck himself added onto it but it is the real deal sho bud banjo.
Thanks for this
Very interesting instrument!!
Gotta get me one. How do I order? Would it mount to a longneck open back?
I can remember learning guitar, 40 odd years ago ,and wondering what was that sound!!! Id found the lp Pretty Miss Norma Jean and the song i wouldnt buy a used car from him was the start of my discovering Buck Trent.
RIP Buck Trent ❤❤❤
We love you buck Trent
Buck is the reason I started playing banjo...he was amazing
I wonder if anyone is making banjos like Mr Trents today. (I want it probably with a wammy bar close to the hand rest area instead 🤔 )
My uncle Dan Surber is the only person, that I know, who knows how they’re built. He’s built several, and believe I’ve played the one in the video at his house. They’re heavy, but they sound amazing. I don’t really know how to pick one very well, but I want to build one myself. Super hot P90 pickup (basically a steel guitar pickup) and hand machined rollers/levers for the string benders. If you want one, my uncle would probably be the best person to ask about it.
His sound is well known from Porter Wagoner's recordings, as The Carroll County Accident which gave name to an LP.
Thanks!!
I always liked buck Trent, he's a talented banjo player, but I do not like the electric style he's playing, get aa electric guitar if your going to play it that way, it's just a horrible sound!
Genius
One of my favorite pickers!!
Killer!
OH Yeah! Love Buck Trent!
I want one. Oh yeah!
Nice nice!
