    A good point to have added is that you cannot mix-n-match rules (EG: BMFA rules and A2 rules cannot be mixed). You cannot take off under article-16 but then operate under A2 (and vice-versa).

    • @Geeksvana

      Hey Dug Diamond! Yes absolutely! It was tough to keep this to the code only, which was my aim for those wishing to fly in the A1/A3 space as a hobbyist only. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    As a 74 year old newbie I just wanted to clarify whether, flying with a sub 250g drone, passing over Police Stations is against regulations, (because in your video it appears there are restrictions flying over Royal Palaces and Government buildings?) From a photography standpoint as long as you are standing on public land you can indeed photograph police stations and even police cars with their car laptop on inside the car, because you are filming from public land and it is up to the police to make all efforts to prevent the public accidentally, or on purpose, filming the car and thus, contents of the car, but is not classified as illegal to the photographer. Thanks to anyone that might be able to clarify this question please.

  • @standrewpics

    The id code label you have to print and place on the drone seems to be getting longer , soon you will not be able to place the ID code on a small drone.

    Very good info , im a newby drone user with a 1 hour previous use mavic mini 1 , can the under 250g rated drone be flown all over the residential areas and other land places listed including railways at any height or at 50 metres above ?
    (ii have a railway line near me in Oxfordshire and its part of my attraction to flying the drone . My brothers a train driver and would be good to video him .)
    Also what is the best all round app to help with live up to date map tracking including NFZ , permissible outer NFZ to fly and other permissable ideal locations , but is frequently updated app endorsed by CAA ?
    ( I have an inactive or rarely active Abingdon Airfield in 3 mile of my house that is sometimes shown in the ATC flight controlled zone in yellow not NFZ or as an safe to fly area not marked at all so i want to know if i can go there or not . (the sort that you can i believe fly over that many dont know)
    What are the weight of the safety skid feet and propellor baskets to avoid damage , im thinking of adding these to get practise first for a while , but if it then makes my weight over 250 grams but under 500 gram what does the restrictions , and requirements then mean to me before and after 2023 , including adding 3rd party replacement accesories before 2023 with the legacy drone ?
    Regarding photos and video recording rules that is basically the same common sense rules as per everyday non street filming use for youtube etc
    everything we do daily under the ignorance is bless dont read too much into its rules ?
    Thanks for your very useful service including the ideal print out flight adverts to give passers by that are similar to ID cards and lanyards to be purchased on ebay atm too
    . :-)

    why didn't they just say you can fly over and near people if you use a prop guard? seems to be the safest way to me Shaun..

    • @Geeksvana

      Hey Andrew! That's a decent idea. I know the US are moving that way for flights over people.

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  3 роки тому +1

      Hey RagNDroneMan UK! Great to see you, how is life? Yes the joules emitted when hitting a human head is important. Although MTOM is used as the main factor, which of course directly impacts all factors.
      The prop guard solution is an interesting one as the FAA are moving in this direction for the US. Will he interesting to see the outcome.

    How have these changes affected drone flying in the UK? What feedback are you receiving from the community?

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Drone Flyer. That's a good question. Overall fairly positive in terms of drone flyers. Lots of new DJI Mini flyers due to the ease of sub 250g regs.
      I the run up there was a lot of anxiety for PfCO holders who I do not feel were handled well. It is great the world of drone is opened up to a wider audience in terms of potential earnings but I think they could have been supported through the changes better.
      My biggest concern and issue personally surrounds the FPV side of the drone hobby and the wider RC model flyers. There needs to be more allowances for them to keep the hobby low cost and free of barriers. Article 16 is great but more should be done.
      So overall good feedback but pockets of concern.

    Am new to your channel and I found this video very useful. However, just a question that am hoping you might know the answer too. I have a DJI Spark and I have been asked by a local school to take some pictures and film for their website (I also do photos for websites as well) but before I do, what do I need to do for this to happen? Am just getting a bit confused with what I can and can’t do haha.
    Any help would be great.

    one more.. Not sure about this but if you are a member of the BMFA does that give you more rights than anyone with a A2COFC certificate? in flight restriction zones?

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  3 роки тому +2

      Yes and No. The Article 16 Authorisation is only for very specific areas like parks meaning you cannot free fly within a congested area with it, in fact you have to stop at the boundary of the park or area you are flying from.
      You can however fly over people in a bubble with the Article 16, although once the C label drones are here, an A2 CofC holder will be able to get within 5m (column) of people anywhere in congested areas, rather than just parks, beaches etc.
      It also depends on whether you are flying commercially or not as the Article 16 Authorisation cannot be used for any commercial flight.
      The absolutely FANTASTIC thing about the Article 16 Authorisation is how it keeps areas open for FPV flyers and RC flyers alike which under the new rules would have been off limits or require a certificate. It keeps the hobby a hobby.
      There are no benefits to either in terms of flight restriction zones in terms of airspace but I don't think you meant that literally?
      Not sure if you have seen the latest revision to the Article 16 Authorisation obtained by FPVUK for their members? Separations have been improved and more flight modes included. It is exciting as it seems the Article 16 Authorisation will be here for the long run, rather than a short term solution.
      Sorry for the longwinded answer, not easy to be precise in a few words on this type of subject.

    Is there not a problem here. "Keep at least 150m away from residential, recreational, commercial and industrial areas"... examples of such areas include cities, towns, parks, and villages. How many places in the UK do not fall under any of those classifications?

  • @Kovaction
    @Kovaction 3 роки тому +1

    50m is like 165 feet! And as for attractions.. 150m??? Holy overkill Batman.

    • @Geeksvana
      @Geeksvana  3 роки тому

      Previously under the old rules, UK hobbyists could not even fly in town centres etc! This is actually a lot better than it used to be. Also, Mini 2 is currently kind of the UK skies with ZERO separation and you can fly over people.
      This could get updated by the time you visit us as we are expecting C label drones to be released... Which will bring down separations with the right certificate.

      The Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978 applies if you make no attempt to get it back, so you must ask for it's return or access to recover it to avoid committing an offence.
      Taking your property from you is of course theft, so you should report it to the Police on 101.
      You may also have additional protection under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (PFA 2012): It is a criminal offence to clamp, tow, block-in or immobilise a vehicle without lawful authority on privately owned land. That law was intended for cars, but an aircraft is a vehicle too.
      If you agree with the landowner that you will collect the drone at a later date then they may be contracted as a bailee under the law of bailment - if you pay them for the service. They then have a duty to care for the drone.
      However, a person who receives goods against their will is unlikely to be under any duty to the goods or their owner - but they must not convert the goods either intentionally or negligently. The Drone remains your property and must be returned to you.
