I always said that if my wife and I were to ever divorce, I am going to go over to DR and stay for at least a year. I work from home so all I need is my laptop and my home is paid for. I would be considered rich with my US salary there. My cousin moved over there after he left the navy, and his place is amazing. With a cleaning service full-time security you name it gated community. He pays the equivalent of about $750 a month

Sosua is a place where only the strong learn and survive. The strong knows how to navigate. As for Santo Domingo it is for someone that just want to live a natural life, do natural things. At the same time learn Spanish so you can date a nice Dominican woman to be your companion that has something to offer you besides poo poo and one you can trust. Sosua has many barrios where one can buy food on the cheap. Also, when you have a steady woman, she will pick up the bargains for you as well.
Or dudes that can’t get girls regularly and have to pay for it.

Yo that's crazy I was just thinking to myself that imma have one stay overnight...but really an hour is all you need. It's like when you see food and ya eyes get bigger than ya stomach.
Its not super expensive...If your spot is nice they'll stay overnight for a low price justbto have comfort and will cool for you in the morning

It’s not about affordability in Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo is more expensive than Sosua in many areas. Villa mella is outside of Santo Domingo practically, it’s the hood. Not the worst part but it’s the hood.

In Santo Domingo, properties are owned by individual landlords, and they determine the price of the apartments. I pay 200 dollars a month because 1. I live outside of the city, where rent is cheaper. 2. I signed a contract that lasted 4 years, and I next year I will sign a new contract that locks in that price again.
