@@OneFiveYankee How would I have made the caster job fit into the caster role? I'm just criticizing the take "took a niche and abstract job and made it work for an MMO". When all they did was took a caster, and turned it into a caster for an MMO.
@@OreallyR17 the idea of using magical paint to defeat your foes is not exactly a common archetype. All I’m saying is they brought the concept to life. Don’t overthink it.
@@wadeyyy Picto is just casting normal spells though. They just look a little more colorful. Some spells don't even look like paint at all at a glance.
I went to college to be a graphic artist and this class is soooo good with its design. Whoever made picto understood the assignment. I especially like the that you get black paint in your CMY rotation, which black is the 'k' at the end of CMYK when talking about the printing process. And printing is exactly what picto is doing when making the canvases then "printing" its abilities. A lot of thought went into this job
just so you're aware, Tempera Grassa and Tempera coat don't stack. Using Tempera Grassa overwrites the 20% Tempera Coat and replaces it with the 10% Tempera Coat, meaning that if you use Tempera Grassa and it breaks the cooldown will by reduce by only 30 seconds, and not 90 seconds.
Slight corrections on some of the information in here: - subtractive palette doesn't require a white paint ready to change it to black paint, if you don't have a white blob, it will just convert the next one you get. - you got a little over excited about Tempera Coat, if you read the tooltip it says you can only use Tempera Grassa UNDER the effect of Tempera Coat, meaning if it's absorbed and you get the 60 sec cooldown reduction that cuts off access to Tempera Grassa, so it's an either/or situation you can't stack the reductions to get 30sec recast. So basically hit it once and it's a personal barrier and if you use it right you get a 60 sec recast on the next one, OR you can hit it twice and give a barrier to everyone and get a 1:30 sec cooldown (assuming you did it at the right time).
Genuine question, since I'm a bit confused. Can barriers from different sources stack? Like, the way I'm reading it, you pop the Coat and then the Grassa, and you have your party shield on top of your personal shield. If both of those shields are broken before the effects wear off, would you get both cooldown reductions? Or does the Grassa replace the Coat effect?
@@battlefries If you check the video Tempera Grassa consumes the Tempera Coat buff. But you can of course activate Grassa later in the 10 seconds of Coat to get a 'second chance'.
I appreciate the video. I’m going to use it when I play Pictomancer. If I could drop a piece of advice though, if you’re going to be showing off gameplay along with your guide, it’s best if people can actually see what’s going on instead of you jumping around while casting.
Green mage was more than just defensive buffs it had poisons nearly all the time magic like haste slow and quick, it had dualcast for things like armor and barrier, petrify void and death
Tempera Grassa and Coat don’t stack so it’s either a personal buff that can get reduced to a 60 second cooldown of a group shield with a 90 second cooldown depending of course on uptime of Coat. Frankly their utility seems in line with most other non selfish dps. Summer provides a comparable if not greater amount of utility because they have a rez and are gaining an aoe heal every minute with Lux Solaris. Not defending summoner just pointing out similar skills. Monk also has a similar buff now with brotherhood and has a group heal. This isn’t to pop pop Pictomancer it looks genuinely fun but it really doesn’t bring as much support as other jobs in its role, especially since it lacks a rez. It also doesn’t even compare to bard or especially dancer in terms of group support. What makes it unique to me is that it has so many movement options. At this point all casters are fairly mobile but Pictomancer feels like it will basically never be tied down which is great.
I must know because now I’m obsessed: If you do Fire in Red > Starry Muse, can you go straight to Stone in Yellow since you technically have both required buffs? Or red>green>starry>magenta? Same thing for if you use your last subtractive stack before magenta, could you go Cyan (last stack) > Green > Blue?
if you haven't seen elsewhere - yes, that's why Pictomancer uses a buff system for the combo. Your position in the 123 is always saved, so you can flip seamlessly between RGB, CYM, or even the AOE versions of each.
24:11 this rotation during the 20s burst would end the burst period early as all stacks of hyperphantasia would be exhausted before the Star Prism. Unless I missed something.
Be aware that that Starry Muse already gives you Subtractive Spectrum, so there is no need to cast Subtractive Palette while under the effects of Starry Muse. Also be aware of that Black Comet uses a stack Hyperphantasia. So if my deductions are correct, you only need to weave 4 GCDs of your base combo (subtractive and non-subtractive) to get the instant Rainbow Drip.
You were so excited for the supposed utility of Tempera Grassa that I started to feel bad about making a comment about it. It's still a really good party mitigation to have, at least. Hopefully, you'll still enjoy the job and love everything else that PCT has to offer as well as its playstyle.
I've watched probably 4 or 5 different videos going over Picto and this shit still doesn't make sense. Your canvas drawings are instant cast outside of combat, but in combat they have a long cast time. Are you supposed to redraw during normal combat, or is it just an initial burst until a boss leaves the arena/becomes invuln/etc and then redraw?
Both. If there's downtime and you're able to draw motifs, that's a huge gain, but the potencies of the Muse abilities are so high that drawing them in active combat is still worth doing. It's similar to the WHM lilies where burning during downtime is better, but using in active uptime is still worth.
Similar to a Monk's chakra or Reaper's harvest moon, you want to set it up instantly outside of combat so you've got it ready to open with, but also cast it during combat when you're able
Man I am LOVING the look of this job, and I know you said that a lot of buttons transform into other buttons for combos, but I dunno just the way you explain it, it feels like there are going to be a tonne of buttons to manage?
I actually set up my skillbar by cut and pasting a screenshot from the livestream. It's kind of like summoner and how you have 3 buttons for the 3 primals and your single target and aoe gcds. But also your single target and aoe energy drain/ fester.
That’s not how tempora coat/grassa works. You don’t get both cd reduction. When the single target one (coat) is used up you cannot use grassa. When you use grassa you consume coat to apply grassa which when that breaks the cd gets reduced by less but it’s party wide 10%.
The order is CYM*, not CMY for the 1-2-3 single target and AoE combos. That's the combo order and it even says it on the tooltips, Cyan followed by Yellow followed by Magenta. The Canvases are also Creature, Weapon and Landscape*, not Environment. Besides that, decent video.
Around 20:20 ur talking about how to personal and party wide mit works. Only thing is it wont be 30 seconds of CD time because you can only cast Grassa while under the effects of Coat. And Coat buff is over ridden by Grassa so its either you get a 60 sec CD reduction or a 30 second.
So with the creature motif you do the moogle skill on opener but your saying with the cd for the charges being 40seconds we should be prepping the madeen skill on not the 1 minute but the 2 minute buff. Does that mean the moogle and madeen is like opener -> 2-> 4->every even number and on odd minute your doing nothing?
I'm kinda surprised that I made it nearly to the end of this video and you didn't mention or factor in that the Hammer skills are all guaranteed crit direct hits, and as a result they do WAY more damage on average than the RBG combo, at least. Are we certain they have no place in the opener? Edit: Quick napkin math showed me that each step does more damage than average by a noticable amount compared to even the CMY combo. Assuming base CR and DH damage modifiers (which total to 1.75X) each hit of the hammer combo does the effective damage of skill with more than 1000 potency. No one will have their crit and dh be this low, so that number will be even higher in practical play. Now, each step of the CMY combo WOULD do similar damage on a crit and much more on a CDH, but that's inconsistent compared to hammer.
Some misinformation and some...just pure lack of actual information. You mention multiple times that the hammer combo does more damage than RGB...but they are also guaranteed critical direct hits, which is a huge detail to miss.
