    10:11 I was in attendance at the Stadium Series game… truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Some context for the game; back in 2018, Tom Dundon took over as majority owner of the Hurricanes. One of his primary goals upon becoming the new owner was to get the NHL to allow Raleigh and the Hurricanes to host their first ever outdoor game. The game was actually supposed to be played in 2021, but the pandemic threw everything out of whack. Dundon petitioned for the game to be rescheduled instead of cancelled altogether, and so February of this year, 56,961 people in North Carolina watched a hockey game inside of a college football stadium!

    The stadium series in Raleigh this year at Carter-Finley Stadium, it didn’t snow, but it was 40° F by puck drop and truly felt like a hockey atmosphere. One of the greatest things to come out of that game was everything else that happened. They made it a whole weekend by having so many things happen. They had a Fan Fest, a rivalry basketball game (at PNC), a concert, alumni game, and even had a CLUB hockey game at Carter-Finley stadium that drew 27,000 people

    Navy-Marine Corp Stadium hosted soccer in the 1984 Olympics. And also hosted the Chesapeake Bathawks lacrosse team. It currently is the home field for the Annapolis Blues soccer team. Now that I think about it, it has also hosted an NHL Stadium Series game, 2018 Capitals vs Maple Leafs

    Iowan here. They sold 10,000 more tickets than they expected I know. They weren't planning on using any seats past the 50 yard line. So they had it pre planned like that. I think they didn't change last minute cause that's how it was advertised and to give better view to most the people. Also to have to Iowa in end zone next to court for tv.

    Question unrelated to the video. You might of covered this already but do you think all these new existing and planned super stadiums will turn out like the multipurpose/cookie cooker stadiums. In terms of only being used for 20-30 year and being demolished in place for a new stadium type the will be popular in future? Or do you think they will last the test of time especially considering how much has been put into building them and eventually maintaining them?

    • @EdWin-wx6um

    Every year LaVelle Edwards Stadium at Brigham Young University hosts the "Stadium of Fire" event for the 4th of July where they have a concert and fireworks show. It's played host to Imagine Dragons, and Tim McGraw, and last year Journey played there. Tbh, I am ex Mormon and yes BYU is owned and operated by the Mormon Church, however, I have had friends tell me about the "Stadium of Fire" event and I have seen a couple of videos of it on UA-cam and it does seem interesting. Plus the scenery with the Wasatch Mountains as a backdrop is very nice.

    Mountain America Stadium has hosted concerts, but not any huge concerts as mentioned since the renovation. Technically there's a concert venue in the stadium. The food court on the north side of the stadium turns into a standing-room concert venue, but there hasn't been a concert there since COVID.

Memorial Coliseum, home of the USC Trojans, including 2 Olympic Games, the first Stadium Motocross event ever, NASCAR racing, and the first Farewell Tour of the Rolling Stones, just a few of the many events to happen there in the last 100 years.

      Craziest events at the LA Coliseum: ski jumping and ice shows. Saw those in a documentary before the 1984 Olympics called "Arena of Excellence." Ski jumping was also a thing at Chicago's Soldier Field for years, but Chicago has a more appropriate climate for that.

    The Iowa Children's Hospital is closer the the 50 than the north end zone where the court was. If anything it's closer to the south end zone. I'm guessing they chose the north end zone because the south is the student section and they wanted to make more money selling tickets to the public than students.

    • @SgtJoeSmith
      @SgtJoeSmith 10 місяців тому +2

      They didn't have a designated student section for that game. Student tickets were general admission like the rest. They had 12000 more tickets sold than expected and cause that's the layout they advertised for seating chart that's what they stuck with instead of changing it after people bought tickets.

    Not gonna lie, he’s got to know what the difference is between a stadium series game, a Winter Classic and Heritage Classic game. The 2014 Big House game is a Winter Classic.

    • @adanalyst6925
      @adanalyst6925 10 місяців тому

      What’s the difference? (Not an NHL fan but trying to get more into hockey)

    • @MaxwellWarawa
      @MaxwellWarawa 10 місяців тому

      @@adanalyst6925the difference is the Winter Classic is supposed to be once a year, with a more retro feel to it. Either full on retro uniforms and graphics, or a retro inspired. Usually involving teams from the North and is typically played on New Years day. (I know 2020 is an exception) and it involves northern US teams and teams that have big histories (I know the Leafs played in 2014 and the Habs played in 2016).
      The Heritage Classic is the Canadian version of it (though it doesn’t happen every year) and happens at the end of October (no clue why could be better in mid December but is typically to avoid conflicts with the Grey Cup game which happens at the end of November)
      And the Stadium series is meant to be a more futuristic type of presentation in the Uniforms and also to be held in less traditional and cooler markets like LA, Nashville, Air Force and Navy academies, and also amount (like multiple games) also there can be northern markets involved but the emphasis of the branding is less on history and tradition and more on something with a bit of futuristics to it.
      So kinda irks me when he says every outdoor game is a stadium series when it’s actually not.
