That piece of evidence is shaky at best. He merely describes the beliefs of Christians, and does not talk about Jesus himself. There is better evidence for his existence but nothing definitive.

Those are what we believe to be historical facts. So there is a consensus that there was someone named Jesus who was a preacher at the time.

Thats not what extra-biblical evidence mean. There are plenty of writings about Jesus that are not in the Bible. Extra-biblical evidence means non-anecdotle, observable evidence. Josephus died in 100 and he wrote in 96-97 so his writings are not contemporary. Good try.

If the same historical requirements are put in the NT text as its contemporary documents not only is it historically valid, it’s the most historically valid document from that time period. I really with atheists took their understanding of textual criticism seriously so that they didn’t say dumb easily explainable points of view. Also, Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great don’t have contemporary literature. There are a host of textual critical books that a person needs to read to better understand the standards of proof within the realm of text critical issues (text criticism is extra-biblical as well).

There actually is evidence for the existence of Jesus outside of the Bible in the writings of Tacitus and Josephus. Also keep in mind that the Gospels themselves are primary sources (in the case of Matthew and John) and secondary sources from the same time period (Luke and Mark). In short, it is undeniable to any serious scholar that Jesus existed, and quite clear who he was from the Gospels. I high recommend anyone reading this goes and reads the Bible.

I don't have a dog in this fight but there are some historical artifacts that point to Jesus actually existing outside of historical texts. Just one example is the coffin of James. One of Jesus's family members found not too long ago.
There are dozens of non biblical, non Christian written documents proving Jesus actually existed and influenced Christianity. Most non Christian scholars, including atheist ones, believe He existed, but they don't believe He was the Son of God or did supernatural things.

There is no evidence outside the bible that proves jesus existed, and of course he wasnt son of a god, or had supernatural powers, this is a given. But, Jesus was a normal name on that time, and every 20 persons one said it was son of god, or god himself, so there is a good chance that there was a man called Jesus that said he was the son of god. Of coruse all the rest about him in the bible is just not true.
For the people giving Matt hate about the Jesus theory, just stop. I was raised Catholic, consider myself agnostic now, but if you don't believe in Jesus (or just dont believe the bible's telling of him) then his existence and his impact is still a very interesting topic of conversation, and whats in the Vatican's private archives might reveal something new. Even if you do belive in Jesus and are a practicing Christian the whole point is to belive and trust in him regardless of how much doubt may arise. You can still believe but don't shame or threaten others.

I've seen somewhere that atlantis might've risen instead of sinking into the sea, which became the sahara, forming the eye of the desert. It's measurements fits and the locations of the countries around atlantis that Plato described are kinda accurate.

Actually, the number of Christians, at least with 2015 being unfortunately the latest I can get results from, numbered more than 2.3 billion, while the number of Muslims in that same year appear to have only numbered around 1.8 to 1.9 billion. Do you have more up-to-date findings, however? I would like to be able to see it.
Not really as Islam is another off shoot of the same religion, taking ideas and characters from both to give credibility to their religion. The bible mentions moses but that doesn't mean that moses existed. Both aren't historical records or count as historical evidence.

If the same historical requirements are put in the NT text as its contemporary documents not only is it historically valid, it’s the most historically valid document from that time period. I really with atheists took their understanding of textual criticism seriously so that they didn’t say dumb easily explainable points of view. Also, Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great don’t have contemporary literature. There are a host of textual critical books that a person needs to read to better understand the standards of proof within the realm of text critical issues (text criticism is extra-biblical as well).
As if one really needs "extra-Biblical evidence", TBW; that's like saying we cannot invoke the records of kingdom X to justify the existence of king Y because kingdom X is of course "biased" towards the existence of king Y, and therefore useless...

There actually is evidence for the existence of Jesus outside of the Bible in the writings of Tacitus and Josephus. Also keep in mind that the Gospels themselves are primary sources (in the case of Matthew and John) and secondary sources from the same time period (Luke and Mark). In short, it is undeniable to any serious scholar that Jesus existed, and quite clear who he was from the Gospels.
I high recommend anyone reading this goes and reads the Bible.
The Vatican has the actual transcripts of the Roman court trials of Jesus. A big piece of evidence to overlook.

I don't have a dog in this fight but there are some historical artifacts that point to Jesus actually existing outside of historical texts. Just one example is the coffin of James. One of Jesus's family members found not too long ago.
The graves of Jesus himself, his wife and his son has been found as well.

No, thats not true. Name 1of the dozens... No chirstian or atheist scholar can say jesus existed, i dont know where you get this info... There is no evidence outside the bible that proves jesus existed, and of course he wasnt son of a god, or had supernatural powers, this is a given. But, Jesus was a normal name on that time, and every 20 persons one said it was son of god, or god himself, so there is a good chance that there was a man called Jesus that said he was the son of god. Of coruse all the rest about him in the bible is just not true.

For the people giving Matt hate about the Jesus theory, just stop. I was raised Catholic, consider myself agnostic now, but if you don't believe in Jesus (or just dont believe the bible's telling of him) then his existence and his impact is still a very interesting topic of conversation, and whats in the Vatican's private archives might reveal something new. Even if you do belive in Jesus and are a practicing Christian the whole point is to belive and trust in him regardless of how much doubt may arise. You can still believe but don't shame or threaten others.
