I personally like the Apple TV better. Great video to show the benefits of both since many will benefit from Homekit TV and may not realize the difference! 👌🏼
Edit for UPDATE: Still in love with my new Tv and Google Tv but the acquisition of a Philips Hue gradient ambient strip made me appreciate my Apple TV once again since the strip does not work with GOOGLE TV software. But all is good the Apple TV with the gradien strip is GORGEOUS!! After 15 years I updated my TV for a Sony Bravia 2022 and it’s GLORIOUS! My intention was to keep using my 4K Apple TV which is my Homekit central, but honestly I haven’t needed to. The Google TV software in this thing is pretty amazing and Ive been pleasantly surprised. It IS Homekit and Apple TV compatible. The interphase is really excellent and the remote very responsive. I think I’m in love 😍 with this thing
Thanks for this video! Just for clarification, can either the Apple TV or a Homekit TV be controlled by Siri to open a specific app? Like, can i command “Hey Siri, watch Netflix.” and the TV can turn on and open the Netflix app? Thanks!
Siri can open apps on the Apple TV box but not a HomeKit tv (only controls power and maybe input but I don’t think so). But a Siri Shortcut command like “watch tv” can turn on the tv, and open a specific app on the ATV. Requires Apple TV and HomeKit tv tho. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thaaank You very much… This helped very good. I Will use an Apple tv in combination wit a hue sync box and homebridge for ambilight and hdmi switching, that i can use my „old“ beamer…
Hi Adam, great video. At my work I want to just show videos, photo slides shows, power points/prezis etc. but sound is important. The devices will usually be less than 15 feet from the Apple device. We have a first generation hub and it is time to upgrade. Should I buy HomeKit for the office? And at home, I also want to review all of the nerdy educational stuff as well as watch movies/TV shows, etc. Should I buy a New Apple TV Kit of both the Homekit and TV kit? Bless you in advance for any words or wisdom. I'm your newest subscriber!
Cindy, thanks for your comment. In the video I talk about the pros and cons with each option since they can do different things. It comes down to your personal preference. Both can do the same thing, just depends on what features you want (discussed in the video). Thanks for your support! 😊
If you download a lot of games or apps, go with 64gb. I just use prime, Netflix, and Disney plus so 32GB was plenty for me. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching! 😊
im see in the video you have 2 HomePod minis next to your tv. Do you use these with the Apple TV and if so how do they sound in comparison to a Soundbar. thx
I don’t use them since you have to pair them each time. I may with the new update coming soon. I will say it sounded way better than my tv speakers, not sure about a soundbar but in some cases it can sound better than a sound bar. Thanks for watching! 😊
Wait so I can turn on an Apple TV in the Home App? That's weird, it doesn't seem to work for me. Whenever the Apple TV is off, it just says "no response".
hi Adam,to be honest HomeKit devices gets down if you don't attend to them daily I have bunch of HomeKit devices like lg tv, HomePods, netatmo valve and weather, for each room.Philips Hue lights and sensors, smart mi air humidifer ,eve energy outlet ,meross outlet, vocolinc diffuser ,Yale door lock ,eufy cam2 c 3 of them, linksys extender. my problem is this is not how it should work always connection issue always there is a different type of issue they get day by day I started using my phone more than ever since I got these gadgets they don't really work very well
i forgot to add these HomeKit gadgets extremly expensive in istanbul not many of them available for purchase buying from amazon import tax and other cost it has already cost me more than 5k and at the end gadgets they don't work well
I personally would go for a HomeKit TV. I don’t need any other plug ins like the Apple TV. The only good thing about Apple TV is screen mirroring which the HomeKit TV has. Other than an Xbox, I don’t wanna have to plug in any BS into my TV.
I’m a little confused, so can you use Siri to switch HDMI inputs on Apple TV or can you only do it through the home app on Homekit TV. So for example, I have a PS4 and I want to buy an Apple TV. If I buy it, can I then use Siri to switch the input to my PS4 instead? Or is that only for Homekit TVs
Great video, Adam👍🏻.....Don’t forget the Roku Ultra’s have the Apple app, sync across multiple decices, $99, and works with Homekit...albeit only to turn it on/off. I like my apple TV 4k, but using it as a Homekit Hub and thread make it most compelling for me. Have a great wekened👋🏼
Hey Rod! I haven’t used the Roku before so I’m sure not of it’s capabilities but that’s great to hear! The HomeKit hub and Thread are awesome Features. Thanks for watching! 😊 have a good weekend 👌🏽
yeah i mean i've always found native tv apps to be extremely slow and use an external streaming device like an apple tv for a better experience overall
Do you prefer a HomeKit TV, Apple TV, or both in your smart home?
You Could say I am using Both
I got to be honest, I had no idea that 'HomeKit TVs' actually existed! Really interesting video Adam!
Haha glad you liked it! Thanks for watching! 😊
I’m still confused, what is a homekit tv? Is just a tv that’s compatible with HomeKit?
The video answers all your questions :)
I personally like the Apple TV better. Great video to show the benefits of both since many will benefit from Homekit TV and may not realize the difference! 👌🏼
The Apple TV is awesome. Glad you enjoyed the video, Thanks for watching! 😊
Apple TV for sure! Automations. Shortcuts. Thread. AirPlay. Sexy new Siri remote. iOS Remote Control. Latest features. Speedy UI.
Also, Apple don’t want you to be able to change the input source (HDMI’s) as they want you to use the Apple TV for Streaming not watch cable etc.
Yep, I would agree! The Apple TV is awesome!! Thanks for watching! 😊

Same thing with my Bravia tv. No need to the box.
Cheers

You bet! Thanks for watching! 😊
Great video thank you. However if I plugin on HDMI 3 how to select it and wakeup and switch to that HDMI and turn on the youtube app. please help
You can press the power button and if the tv has hdmi arc it’ll turn on and you’ll choose the UA-cam appp
Thaaank You very much…
This helped very good.

Can I still throw an Apple TV onto a smart TV that has Homekit capability, such as an Onn Roku or LG?
Sure can! Thanks for watching! 😊
Does a Homekit Tv not have the option to output audio to a pair of Homepods like an Apple TV steaming device?? Seems like a missed opportunity.
That’s a negative

Apple tv are better in speed and optimization because tv brands cut out the budge of the TV ‘s CPU
Good point! Thanks for watching! 😊

That’s weird, maybe try rebooting it? I get the no response error when my ATV is unplugged
@@AdamsTechLife oh wait it might be because I’m doing it wrong. To turn on the Apple TV you just click the tile in the home app, right?

Yes, you can. Thanks for watching! 😊

Siri can’t switch inputs by voice natively (maybe with a Siri shortcut), that feature is only available in the home app with a HomeKit TV.
Thread is what will make apple tv better
True, Thread is great. Thanks for watching! 😊
I think it has thread now!
Hi! Any ways to connect my “old big” homepod to my tv (sony bravia XBR-75X90CH) without using an apple tv 4K box?
Hey Lee, there is not a way that I know of. I’m pretty sure sure that’s not possible.
@@AdamsTechLife i thougt the sony tv being homekit compatible will do the trick but i guess not
I have a Samsung TU 700 and it sucks its sooo slow
Dang, that’s crazy. Thanks for watching! 😊
I don't think there is such a thing as a fast and responsive Homekit capable TV.

I think all tvs should just be dumb monitors only...the companies will only support the tv apps for a few years at best... 👎
