Yes. Im still using this car. I change the rim to 16inch and the micheline pilot sport, change full exhaust piping ( 4 -2 -1 )... The handling is really superb but.... 1 cons: small petrol tank.

It just shows that the driver actually matters most. You can give even a Flinstone car to uncle Khong and he will show you he can drive it like a Ferrari😆
Still driving this car, 9 years + and running strong. I really satisfied with the 1.6 engines, hills, overtaking, accelerating with no hassle. Myvi also no problem. I drove 1.3 version once, and really felt the lack of power.
Unker, the loud sound came from engine, CTV transmission or the rear exhaust? Anyhow, unker if possible ,, try test those old model Proton Suprima or old Ford Focus Diesel engine

Far more better than perodua cars because most of proton cars came with big brake disc that will cun2 for their standard size of rim. I've been in my cousin & friends that using bezza and all of their brake will vibrate if push hard becuse their disc already bengkok. Cannot withstand with harsh driving @ long journey. My cousin that using bezza 2018 have a bengkok brake disc after naik kimanis 1 kali 🤣 the car was still new back then

I am owning one SAGA FLX1.6 SE (2013)...the issues that annoyed me the most are: 1. the engine noise...with no speakers in the front seat, driving at the highway with >90km/h, drivers can basically switch off the radio, as you're not hear anything else except the engine noise... 2. Very high fuel consumption... mine is around 9L/100km for city drive...that's a big NONO to a normal sedan... But yet, I owned it since 2013 and I'm still enjoy driving it till now...

The horrible CVT droning sound will be really tiring if driven aggressively all the way up to Genting. CVT will definitely be a deal breaker in any car purchase! 🤷♂️🤦♂️
It's just Proton's application of CVT was poorly executed. Poor calibration, noisy, inefficient, questionable reliability, etc. Meanwhile, nobody seems to be complaining much about CVTs used by Toyota and Honda. As with any forms of transmission, there will be good ones and also bad.
@@germaineliew2012 CVTs tend to sap the life out of engines and throttle reactions are just horrendous, hence we seldom see carmakers apply these gearboxes in performance oriented models.
Brake fade. When u feel it isnt biting well, that means the brake is hot. The fluid isnt clamping the caliper well when it is hot. So u need to go slower to let it cool down for a few minutes.
Thank you. Yes, the above is the explanation. When the brales cannot tranager the heat to tue atmosphere fast enough, the brakes become spongey and does not bite. That was wjy I slowed down a little to cool the brakes down.
Saga FLX front disc brake tends to get hot quite fast, probably that's why Saga 2019 get the front disc n rear drum replaced with bigger one from Iriz/Persona
Because the lowest trim for saga flx use 13" rim. So they need to put disk brake equivalent to 13". Same like saga vvt 1st gen. For saga mc1 & mc2, they using bigger disc brake since the lowest trim using 14" rim
Is the car has been fitted with open pod intake ? Or the cvt gearbox makes the engine produce loud noise ? But it sound like a combination of open pod and cvt sounds

Somehow, the engine revs sound like those on a manual transmission car with a slipped clutch...it is revving up quite loudly and the car doesn't seem to move faster

Our climb was around 3 minites only, then we went downhill, so it was ok. Besides the temperature is cooler on the mountain and it was morning.

1.3 Saga can go up Kimanis Hill (I experienced it myself)... the only cost is the smelly brake disc.

Its a shame the 1.6 does not come with a manual. The 1.3(M) is very enjoyable up Genting. Imagine what a 1.6(M) will handle like.

these type of cvts are the reason people hated cvts. toyota and honda is doing it right.
This CVT is one of the early ones. The cvt has grown in leaps and bounds since then.

Turn off your OD and you will have 3 gears only. Should be good enough. If coming down from top of Genting, use 2 or L
