I just built a 4 story building ..the front of the building 20.4ft and the length is 54 ft on the front area I took 9 ft for stairs to the basement and upstairs .the remaining 11 ft I face a problem , and the problem is that I was planning to install steal stairs but it didn't look fine.. now I have to go inside the building in order to build the stair and for that I have to cut the beam ..I,m pretty much confuse ...how to handle this situation .can I cut the beam just like that without any precaution ..or I have to seek some expert advice for tha.. please help me out with that..thanx

First you need to know, that l/3 and l/4 doesn't depend upon fixed or free end. this depends upon continuity. 2nd thing is negative reinforcement may not be provided all the time, depending upon the negative moment value.

Please check cross beam is correct ? First confirm main beam and secondary beam, after check cross beam is correct ? Showing vedio cross beam reinforcement top steel above beam, bottom steel inside beam it is not correct If it is secondary beam, both steel (top & bottom) inside main beam.

In beam terminate case, some Engineers not provide extra top bar L/4. Only top anchor bars & botton main bars provde
that depends upon the designer. the negative moments can be tackled in many ways.
Also make video on basic of slab structure design or thumb rules for slab structures for residential nd commercial structure

Top bars lap shall be somewhere in the center of beam

For single layer of steel, spacer bars are not required. If there is double layer, then you have to provide it in bothe top and bottom bars.
