Wow, really sad. Happens last week, we had a fine Franklin ("red jacket") 1/2 hp submersible go out.... after 25+ years. I'm game to replace it myself, but no way I'd pay so so very $$$$ much for Franklin's VERY expensive products now with no, or even a pathetic 1 yr warranty. (Kudos to RC W for trying to step into the breach) Related note.... I did just buy an AY McDonald 1/2 HP from a local supplier (instead of Amzn - yah, you scared me off.).... thought I was getting a quality US made pump from a venerable Iowa company, founded 1850 or so..... (Their web site does the buy American schtick, specifies their pumps are made in Iowa & Tennessee.... so I paid up).... BUT when I got the thing home, pulled it out of the box, it says, MADE IN TAIWAN!!!!) Worse, only 1 yr warranty too. I contacted AY McDonald.... got a call from a VP for sales.... His response was along the lines of that they didn't hide it... and they had to in the US Southeast... (sic ? -- Not impressed. To cut to the chase here, the AC McDonald web site simply... LIES.... nowhere does it mention that apparently several of their pump lines are now made overseas.... Sadly not all that different from the "Hallmark Industries" pitch -- "American company" (sure, but made entirely in China...) ps, I see you also sell AY McDonald pumps.... Were you aware they're now making many of them overseas? (China/Italy, etc.) That they'd gutted the warranty, etc.? (company vp insisted to me the warranty was still 5 years, promised to email it to me -- but what came with my AY McDonald China pump says 1 year.... (Dare you to do a video on this too)

Since my County Line (TS Tractor Supply), with its 3 year warranty just crapped out in year 4, I'm wondering if I should get a Franklin and roll the dice. The Franklin pump I had in the well prior to the County Line lasted 15 years.

FE will cover from date of installation if proof is shown from one of their Distributors or Wholesalers at the time of the claim. The territory rep should be able to facilitate this. I know because I'm currently the territory rep for BC Canada for LG and FE products. -Bret Tregarthen
Great video and video series. I'm the FE and Little Giant rep for BC Canada. FE goes to market through qualified brick and Mortar Distributors and Wholesalers. In BC you must be certified by the local Groundwater Association to install pumping equipment so we don't often run into this scenario here. I know that I have worked on Warranty Claims based on my distributors judgment to qualify the customer even if they are not yet a FE certified Key Dealers. I'm betting that your local rep would work with most installers if their Distributor advised on it as well. Buying the product third party online is another scenario. There is no way to qualify the proper sizing or installation technics used. This protects everyone, ie: our often misunderstood and fragile water table. It is not difficult to become a Franklin Certified Key Dealer. You must meet local certification and code and be vetted by the territory rep. Again great video! and video series! I have many customers watching these from BC.
Wait, protects everyone? Sounds like a clarion call to protect everyone except the consumer -- the handy DIY bloke who is willing to buy quality, willing to learn from RCW's and others, but you "pros" view us as a threat to what's left of your business model.....and so you'll cheer to keep restrictive regulations (barring diy types) and when companies come along and refuse to extend warranty protection to DIY installs.... "cuz they can't handle it." (This is how more and more of us will be buying and installing the China pumps -- just as we've learned to buy and maintain the China-saws.... aka "Craftsman," MTD, etc.... just a third the price via amzn)... and yes, "resistance is not futile."
@@embreesmith7613 If you meet the local code and hold a certification, you should be able to reach out to Franklin Electric and the local rep will vet and help you with the application to become a Key Dealer. Many perks including extended warranty on most products.

The best method is to contact Franklin Electric directly and request information on any local classes taking place.
