Dude imma be honest. The work you do is insane. I watch a lot of different car and home audio channels and a lot of them like to keep costs down and keep it kinda simple. You blew me away earlier in the Series when you covered up the access panels in the doors with a solid material. I’ve only seen one other person do that. Damn man I would have loved to see how you tuned this thing. I’ve been working a lot with DSP’s lately and would love to see how you tune your systems. I used a Dayton audio mic with a RTA on my iPad. Seemed to work good and the speakers sounded hella good. There not to many videos on DSP tuning. I’m only 18 and got a lot more to learn about this stuff. So I would love to see some videos on your tuning procedures.
Thanks for the great comment and watching our video!!! So we will get into more of DSP tuning and talking about what to do. It's not a easy task to learn, but hopefully we can help explain what your actually doing and things to look out for. Patience and trial/error.. We have tuned hundreds of DSPs over 10 years.. So we learn something new every time we do one.
Just recently found your channel. Love the work and attention to details. Keep up the good work and the video quality is A1. Thank you for your dedication to our passion.
Thank you! We appreciate it! We are filing the next project now & hopefully it will be the first true 4K one! Exotic car loaded with Utopia and Mosconi gear with custom fabrication. It’s going to be fun!!
We will go into more detail on our process hopefully on the next build. Our systems are fully active, Mosconi DSPs with plenty of power on tap. All "levels" are set with an Oscilloscope or DD1, we use an RTA to analyze the signal (if we keep the factory amplifier/radio) and then we have a unique tuning process to set the time delay, L/R EQ, tonality, etc. We might have to dedicate an entire video to this and try to think about how to convey the technique in a simple DIY format. Stay tuned!
Miami knows how to do old school cars... Might get the guys to do a quick video on it, we almost have it wrapped up! Would you like to see a quick video on the build?
Awesome builds love the attention to detail. I also like how you offer the mounting brackets and baffles for the doors. I have 2020 f150 and would really like to upgrade the factory speakers and add a sub woofer nothing to big. Maybe run everything with a 5ch amp. What options do you guys offer?
I WOULD LIKE TO NOW IF THERE IS A COMPANY OUT THERE THAT MAKE A PLUG AND PLAY AMP WITH MORE WATTS FOR THE STOCK SYSTEM ON A 2018 FORD RAPTOR WITH THE B&O SYSTEM. I LIKE THE SYSTEM THAT YOU PUT IN THE RAPTOR. WHAT IS THE COST OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
When you were bondoing the pillars. I saw the Bulldog adhesion promoter. Do you use the bulldog before the bondo just like with paint? Does the AP help the bondo stick?
Great job! However, all those great components, speakers and amps and yet you still used RCA cables! Why not leverage an optical option to add one more step to cleaning up the sound from the factory head unit?
So when using the ZEN module, you have the option to use RCA or Optical. Believe it or not, optical is more limited than the RCA in this situation. In most applications, yes Optical is more cost effective, easier. But in this case, money wasn’t a object, but sound quality and performance was. So RCA was used.
Thanks! So we could angle them more but it would change the overall look of them. While changing the axis does help, we don't believe many people would be able to hear the difference. We do extensive DSP tuning to bring everything together and create the sound stage that our clients are looking for.
Are you guys willing to sell a blueprint/instructions of the box? I would love to build one myself but am new to the building portion of boxes. I built a 4th order bandpass box with my dad when I was younger but would love something this style in the 2016 f150. The only option I see right now online is the $1850 option and then the one with speakers. Thanks for your time
Hey Bradley, thanks for checkout the videos. So we don’t have a blueprint or cut sheet for this enclosure. We work with precut profiles and we copy them using a router. Then we assemble the enclosure. Also, as you can tell from the video, a lot of custom work needed to be done to the enclosure, even after the pieces were cut. I would recommend using this video along with the Nissan Titan video as a reference. Maybe this will provide some insight along with tips when your building yours. If your interested, we can take the enclosure down several levels to reduce the cost. Do you already have subwoofers? Thanks Don
We use that K2 for mockup since its the same size as the Flax series. We keep around dummy drivers to build and at the end, we load in the final, brand new set of speakers.
Clean work!! Can you make these with out having the vehicle there if I sent you my a pillars ? I got a 2020 F150 so the pillars are the same but with differnt speakers.
We are figuring out a way to do it. The GoPro microphone will not do it justice, but we are figuring out a way. The factory system in these trucks are terrible in terms of sound quality and output. So it doesn't take much to improve them, but this system was simply amazing!!
We do have experience... to do them the proper way requires quite a bit of work and finding the right speaker is not that easy. Do your research and be ready to possibly modify your vehicle.
Great work! What is the workaround to maintain the factory chime coming through the speakers in these new F-150's? I specifically watch for it on these installs and never catch it. Recently upgraded mine and lost this feature, seems to be a common issue in the forums.
Hey Robert, so we do not offer enclosures that require a seat lift and in order to do a 12-inch sub properly, that would be requires due to the airspace requirements. Below, you can check out our Level 5 enclosure and if you are looking for the most output, you will go with the Sundown SA series, the same enclosure setups we run in our UA-cam videos. soundsgoodstereo.com/collections/custom-subwoofer-enclosures/products/2011-2021-ford-f-series-supercrew-truck-custom-level-5-subwoofer-enclosure-box-including-raptor
where do you have drivers aimed, I have the same speakers and was thinking of making my pillars more on axis, do you find there is an advantage to this other then size?
Adjusting axis can yield good results. Stereo systems offer a unlimited amount of possibilities and improvements. It all comes down to the time you want to invest and the educational background you have in acoustical science. If you work with acoustics every day, then no question axis will help. If this is your first time, then be patient and be willing to learn. For us, we take the entire install and we break it down to performance, aesthetics, reliability, and being able to service the vehicle in the future. The main component to the performance of our stereo systems is our knowledge of DSP tuning. This allows us to use speaker locations that might not be optimal, but utilize the power of a DSP to bring everything together. This allows us to provide a stock appearance, but stellar performance. So to answer your question, yes axis does matter along with 10,000 other things. Determine your budget and time to allocate these where it matters the most.
Around how long did it take to complete the entire build on the Raptor? I am interested in a similar system, but with 8" subs and my own custom under seat subwoofer box. Everything else will pretty much be about the same, more or less.
