I was a passenger in a 2008 Range Rover last week, it has been owned by the original owner from new & apart from the usual servicing; tyres, etc. he said it has been trouble free. It was still very comfortable on country roads for a 200 mile around trip, & very capable doing some light off road work during a day’s shooting. I know many have problems at some point, but this one didn’t &, speaking with other friends who own various LR models, it seems that the unreliability point is over emphasised. Probably by rival manufacturers whose offerings don’t match the various Land Rover & Range Rover models for all around ability when combining both on road & off road usage.
100% agree - also don’t understand the hate for Jaguar! Gorgeous automobiles, powerful, and innovative! SVRs are bargains as is the iPace and OMG XF-S wagon is pure 🤤
Sadly we'll never know. CT became G4 became TreK. Each step seems to be less and less about the truck and more and more about other "lifestyle" things like kayaking, hiking, biking, etc. I do wish we could bring back CT but it won't happen. And no, I don't think a modern Defender could manage. I don't see too many of them surviving being dunked into water up to the top of the doors to cross a river for example.
I seriously question the fitment and ability of those bush wires , in the old defender , you mounted those to your bullbar which is mounted to the chassis , if you found yourself in the situation where you were making your own path , you could literally cut down branches with them , they always saved your windscreen . These ones all , like the rest of the car , appear very designer and flimsy with it .
@mattalexander4699 I own 2 both over 200k miles. The reality is that they're far better than people think. People who talk bad about them usually have never owned or driven one. After 20yrs of LR ownership, I should know
TFL is an automotive journalism group, who unlike a large majority can actually report on vehicles for offroad use. That’s why LR puts on the event, that and for dealer personnel to engage with the more utilitarian designed of the defender. I thoroughly enjoy TFLs competent ability to do stuff like this without employing the imposter syndrome, ie; someone who can’t even figure out how to get a 4x4 into low range then pretends to be an expert in it.
Something is not right about this video. It seems that Land Rover is demanding that you highlight their Defender in this silly challenge just to mask the reality that Land Rover makes very unreliable vehicles. It makes them look good, but they are taking advantage of your honest reviews and making a “schill” out of you and TFL.
@@gregjacob3858 …of course I have. But it seems now that the honest reviews of Land Rover’s lineup is starting to make the parent company upset because it may be hurting their sales. Assembled in the UK, but the parent company is TATA of India…but the major stake holder of TATA is Geely in China. So guess who gets to make all of the decisions about how Land Rover is run ?
@@cruzmalibu4361 Most car companies dont have the culture associated with them like LR. Jeep and Toyota also, but the Camel Trophy was far from silly. That was a real test of machine and man. The one in this video is a bit lame compared to the old challenges. How is LR retaliating and against who? TFL had a bad experience with their Defender and yet LR invites them back every year. Did I miss something?
Dont matter what Land Rover thinks, low profile tires do not belong on an off road suv .
I was there the weekend before for Hill Country Rover Rally. I saw all those Defenders sitting near the entrance and wondered what it was for.
Was that Hidden Falls?

Unfortunately my buddy has a new Defender that goes into the shop for issues literally every other month. He loves it tho

Fantastic job there Kase! Proud of you buddy! I am sure ALL of TFL is as well. Way to represent!
Good JobCase , Represented TFL well!
Congrats guys ! Kase did a very good job presenting this video ! All the guys worked well together it looked like ! Nice job !
Land Rover Nail This Every Year,Nice One Guys👍😉💪
They make you work more than the 'car'.
What a fun challenge!
Congratulations to the entire team, good job Kase.
I wonder how these new Defenders would fare in something like the old Camel Trophy.
They wouldn’t. 😂
They would do absolutely fine; Most capable vehicle LR ever made!👍
They Would be fine as long as there’s no dust, water, mud, rocks , sand, snow, or rain.

@TFLoffroad: Great job Kase! Looked like a lot of fun.
Is this at Hidden Falls in the Texas Hill Country? Looks familiar
Really interesting video. Thanks 👍
It’s like an off road Boy Scout camp for adults…😂😂
👏👏👏Good Job Kase ... Looking Good
Congrats...Way to carry to torch.
Congrats 🎉👏
Swapping the stock tires to Duratracs was a good call but they were still too too low-profile in my opinion.

Wow, what fun!
Was this done at Hidden Falls? I believe I showed up the day this ended and they’re were picking up the Rovers.
Yes
Yes, I was there the 19th through the 21st and the Land Rovers were there.
Well done!
Awesome!
5:46 the outer lamps are supposed to be amber turn signals. Why are they illuminating when braking? Malfunction?
No. All 4 lights light up when turning. and all 8 light up when braking
Hidden falls can hurt you if you go to the wrong area.
Great video...
They must have a team of mechanics and auto electricians on hand to keep those cars in the challenge.
Haters gonna hate..
Yawn…

Next time, I want to see Roman and Nathan do it.
It's completely reckless that 20 inch rims and low profile tires are used.
Well that was weird

This sounds like a day of torture
These tfl guys have a fixed monthly salary,or how are they being paid?
They each receive one billion in gold Krugerands from Roman at the start of each month...😮

To market Land Rover trash to people with more money then common sense.
Promotional.
