    Hello Dr. Klim! Thank you as for the very thorough tutorial, really appreciate it as an assistant. Question, can the pre polishing kit and ZirCad stain kit be used on the Sirona Zirconia blocks prior to sintering? I’m having issues with the restorations being too opaque, any advice?

    • @KlimDDS
      @KlimDDS  5 місяців тому

      Thanks, I am pleased the workflow presented is working. Yes, you may use the Infiltration coloring and lab kit and polishing approach for the Sirona Zirconia. Are you using the MTL block? This block is a 3Y material, meaning it is more opaque and therefore will appear bright. Think of choosing 2-3 shade darker than target shade for the case. Infiltration will help bring the value down as well. There are more aesthetic brands such as Katana One and the latest Prime block. Have you tried these? They do blend better than the Sirona, though, Sirona block has excellent strength.

      @@KlimDDS we would be very pleased to watch a series comparing the four different products in identical cases explaining advantages of each of them.
      Another information: We have shortages in Zirconia products on CERECbase. Some of them taken from the market. Do you have an explanation for that?

    • @KlimDDS
      @KlimDDS  6 місяців тому +1

      I hear you. When considering zirconia choices, I think strength first depends on 3y, 4y, 5Y, and then aesthetic second. I use zirconia for deeper subginginal margins and/or minimal occlusal reduction space. This usually leads more to a 3Y choice. So, find the zirconia you can obtain in your area and learn the process for that brand. Markets vary in different parts of the world due to trade agreements, tariffs, etc.. It can be a bummer. Hello James, Amazing video as always. We are a dental practice based in the UK with a digital dental lab in-house which I manage. We have the MCX5 milling machine and CS4 and use the Zircad MT Multi discs for the zirconia crown and bridge. We wanted to move to Zircad Prime to be able to get more aesthetic results, particularly for anterior zirconia restorations. I suppose the CS4 does not work for Prime and we need to upgrade to a vaccum-furnace. Which furnace would you recommend and do you have video training using Zircad discs workflow with the burs, finishing, polishing, and staining for zirconia restorations? Many thanks and Regards, Rajiv.

    • @KlimDDS
      @KlimDDS  5 місяців тому

      Thank you for the comment. The Progamat S2 would be better for disc milling of ZirCAD MT Multi and Prime. Though there is a firmware update for the CS4, the Prime and ZIrCAD MT Multi will be more opaque out of the CS4. I will eventually have training for the disc milling option and finishing. Until recently, most of my zirconia has been processed with block milling with the Primemill. Are you using MiYo Esthetic on your zirconia?

    • @rajivkalawade5212
      @rajivkalawade5212 5 місяців тому

      @@KlimDDS Thank you for the prompt response. Yes, that would be really amazing to have some training for the disc milling option for sintering and finishing zircad mt multi and prime. No, at the moment we are not using Miyo Esthetic as was not sure if the CS4 is capable of glazing miyo products. We just use the Crystall stains and glazes. Do you feel Progamat S2 is the best option for sintering and also for stain glaze with Miyo?

    Dr. Klim, thank you for the video! I know this video was more about the polishing process, but I have a related question about the block: How do you account for the shade compensation if your target shade is A3 or A3.5 like most adult patients who have the zirconia indications that we like (deep restorations from recession and class V decay and heavy worn occlusion)? This is one thing I like about the Dentsply Sirona / Vita MTL block - it’s true to shade, so A3 looks like A3.

    • @KlimDDS
      @KlimDDS  6 місяців тому

      In my hands, I have seen all zirconia having a higher value than ceramic and most natural teeth, including MTL; I choose 1-2 shades darker (depending on brand and shade) because of the value, not the hue. The MTL is on the 3Y side, meaning a higher value. I see the higher value with photos. I often take a photo before characterizing. Value is so critical in my eyes. Zirconia has always been a higher value because the crystal structure will bounce and scatter light more than most ceramics or natural teeth, creating a higher value appearance.

    Hi James, thank you for producing such high-quality and educational videos, they're extremely helpful. Regarding the stain and glaze for zirconia with miyo esthetic, would it be similar to the miyo 850 process for emax? What would be the role of colouring liquids? I'm eagerly awaiting your video about staining and glazing zirconia.

    Thank you for all the informative videos you do. I have a CS6 furnace and wanted to start zirconia. I was going to get stains and the Ivoclar tech I spoke with said the furnace is too small and prestains are to acidic for CS6. Just wondered what your opinion was. I want to try Prime blocks because the other Ivoclar blocks have been too bright in LT, and MT takes too long to furnace. Glazing adds so much time I’d rather do an eMax.

      I often infiltrate for precoloring with the Cs6. If one is concerned about the liquid drying, there is a 10-minute drying cycle, then use a toaster oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes, first before sintering. I use MiYO Esthetic for stain and glaze after sintering for more demanding aesthetic cases.

    • @marcmiller6145
      @marcmiller6145 6 місяців тому

      @@KlimDDS Thanks again. When would you prefer to prestain and when would you glaze after? Are you suggesting the drying cycle AND the toaster over OR the oven? Do you have a precolouring liquid preference? Do you suggest it better to do zirconia as a 2 visit crown due to the staining and glazing times? Kind Regards.

    • @KlimDDS
      @KlimDDS  6 місяців тому

      It depends. Most of my molars and some premolars are just polished, with Prime move the restoration to the top of the block to gain access to the cuspal translucency. In most cases, choose two shades darker than the target shade. With these multi-layered blocks, I place infiltration less than I used to. For stain, I prefer MiYO Esthetic; there is a 16-minute cycle now. I will post that cycle on the blog at www.cadstar.org. I recommended the oven over the dry cycle so the furnace is not contaminated with the wet colored liquids when infiltrating.@@marcmiller6145

      When doing anterior zirconia, I will either mill or print a temporary and bring them back. More time is required in my hands for the aethethic zone. CAD CAM is not all about one appointment for me, it is about control and outcome. I love having functional and aesthetic control.@@marcmiller6145

      Good question, if you will mill from pucks, then the SC2 will be a better fit, the CS6 was made for the block mill for Prime and ZirCAD MT multi. I use both. If you are using CEREC, then the CS6 is the way to go! All the best!
