REVIEW: SUPERLUX HD 681 EVO HEADPHONES
Let it burn-in for like 50 hours.
BUILD QUALITY - not impressive. That little cable is certnaily a weak point, it will sooner or later bend and break (this can easily be fixed).
The head strap might break.
But, come again, how much did I actually pay for this can??
Treat it nice, be gentle.
Even if you break it, buy it again!
LEAKING - yes, it leaks. Not much though. It leaks very little.
Compared to, say Grados, the 681 EVO leaks very little.
COMFORT - it's not really good. Especially if you have a big head.
Maybe up to one hour, then it will begin to fatigue your head.
SHOULD YOU REALLY BUY THIS HEADPHONE?

SOUND QUALITY - the sound is impressive. The sound is so big... The stage is so big and wide.
Two things stand out in particular: bass and dynamics. This can is bassy, with plenty of punch, but it's NOT boomy. You know, this is not a boom-boom-boom headphone.
The mids, yes, they lack transparency and air. If you're looking for a clear and clean (analytic?) sounding headphone, forget it.
There's enough detail in the treble area.
Whatever the case. I really LOVE this can. This can is so much FUN!
The music sounds great.
This can rocks!

Question: HD681B (where the B is for balanced, this has a graphic on the Superlux site which is tempting) or EVO?
I need a neutral sounding headphone, not very bassy, but natural and musical, where even the mids (example: female vocals) shine without fatigue. No muddied frequencies, appreciate little details.
I listen to genres like new-wave, Bowie, trip-hop, electronic pop, ambient kind of rock, electronic rock et cetera.

Haven't listened to the 681B.
Stuff like Bowie, new wave, trip-hop etc. sounds great on the 681EVO! No, it's not neutral, it is bassy, not boomy. Great choice for this kinda music.

Hd681 F have the most natural sound but a bit light on bass. Evo imo are the worst
