How do you change the batteries in Directtv remote RC73 Genie.
If you have a sharp tv and have tried everything to get your remote to control your volume without success try changing the brand name of tv to Hisense.It should work with first code.

I have an RVU, and I called in to tech support because I wanted to have my TV remote (Samsung) to control my soundbar as well, the agent had me to factory reset my Direct TV remote and now I can't pair it back to my TV. Do you have any suggestions??
I was sent a universal remote could not figure it out. Thanks, now it is working and I can use the pause/rewind again. Those buttons stopped working on the Genie.

I said no way this video sounds like someone doing a click bate ..after dropping my remote it wouldnt work on any button so i removed and checked batteries that were ok and reinstalled and light just did rapid flashes, then i did what this video said and thought this is silly, this cant fix it …BUT IT DID.. thanks

Hello how can I make the remote access my tv’s apps? I press enter and can switch to start cast, but can’t navigate while through my tv’s apps! Thank you!
That is the downside of the DIRECTV remote. You cannot navigate through your TV apps it only allows you to control the volume and the power button. You can only navigate through the DIRECTV menu and the options it offers.
No all direct tv dvr have tv or remote setup. So how do you program it? Lets say I have a tv and a direct tv remote, but I don’t have a direct tv receiver. Now I want to program that remote to change volume and turn off my tv.
I’m sorry. You can not program a remote without the receiver. Once it’s programmed it’s no problem.
RC73 model here… everything works except power buttons to the TV… turns receiver on and off but not actual TV… watched your other video too.
Make sure the switch at the top center is set to tv. Let me know if that works. You must have it programmed to your tv model.

I did the 981 and then one red light came on then 4 green. What could that indicate? I’ve changed the batteries twice
And when he blinks red, it means there was an error in the order of entering the code. Did do you get it to program?

thought I should mention my remote right now doesn’t work for the most part, I can punch numbers but the channel up and down doesn’t work. So I punched codes until it worked and if you hold select and mute > enter code 983 > done. I can now change the channel. Temporary fix while I wait for my new remote.

What can you do if the remote passes all of the steps leading up to pushing the 981, but the 981 does not trigger any lights to appear? I can’t get beyond this step.
Do the lights in the remote turn on when you push any button?
If yes next step, no replace batteries with NEW
NEXT STEP
After that push and hold the mute button at the same time and hold, if it blinks twice slowly release right away and enter the code
If no lights flash go to next step. If they flash you are set. If you have a genie remote, you need to program to RF for it to work without having to point to the box
NEXT STEP
If the lights worked only when you pushed the select and Mute button, but are not working now, replace with new batteries. If you have replaced the batteries with fresh ones, make sure you are getting the two slow blinks correct. If they are but your remote does not blink 4 times after the 981, check to see if it changes the channel, if it does, the factory settings have been restored. If you can’t change the channel, you may need a new remote.
Before you buy a remote, let me know how old is your directv box.

I got a GE remote and a Emerson TV hooked up to the not a remote is smaller than that ain't got no plugin for Bluetooth nothing

After changing the batteries, if it’s blinking red, whenever you push a button, it means that something got damaged in the remote.
You can try programming to factory settings, but if it gives you a red light as you’re trying to do that you need a new remote. I have a link in the description for remote controls.

How to program to receiver?
Your all over the place even running out to the car. Just focus and do one step at a time and you can slow down so we can absorb what your saying. You didn’t show me how to connect the remote to the tv of the hitting the two buttons doesn’t turn it off/on.
Sorry it did not help you. Did you fast forward? The video is in sections for each problem, and to reset to factory settings and the pairing to the tv. Did you find a better video?
My red light stays on. On the shorter/wider remote.. it’s staying on constantly and no features work… it won’t reset
There is an internal malfunction. Try this:
1. Replace the batteries, and reset to factory settings
2. Push each button 10 times (if a button pad is stuck internally, this can unstick it.)
3. Look for cracks, is any your unit is probably damaged. Replace it at this point. If you are adventurous Do the next step.
4. If adventurous, Before buying a new one open the remote and clear out any debris or moisture. Re-assemble and test.
Why is this not in the manual?!
They want you to call tech support, then they try to sell you a warranty or a new remote.
My arrow keys don’t work! I can’t figure out how to get to settings.
Oh no!!! Did you do the button test as shown in the video? If you push the button and the light turns on the button works, you will need to then program factory settings. If the lights don’t turn, but other buttons lien on the light, the remote is probably bad. I would try replacing batteries before ordering one. I have a link to the remote I used in the video in the description. Let me know if you were able to fix it.

@@strategyandperformance It’s 2006. I figured it out though. I needed to move the slider to TV, hold select and mute, then press a certain button combo I found online.
