I think you might have misinterpreted what Barry was referring to when he was talking about piano players playing big chords. He did not mean you should play just triads. Triads are very important, but I think he was talking about playing basic drop 2 and drop 3 chords. ( Major 6th and Minor 6th chords as just an example.)
Thanks for your comment, I'm a big fan of your channel! I realise my editing implies triads but Barry is known for his four note diminished chord scales, I was trying to emphasise a 'less is more' attitude rather than specifically triads, which is the foundation of the Goodrick approach- I hope most of the demonstrations being four note voicings will help clarify that and will pin this comment to do so further. Thanks for all your content and for checking out the channel, Charles.
I'm learning the piano, and messing around with a ukulele. My piano teacher had me play the uke in our lesson this week since I'm trying to learn Minuet in G. You were really out of my pay grade, but this was so well explained. Chapêau. I've been geeking out on music theory for the first time at 66 yoa. This was really a helpful video, merci beaucoup.
Luc, I must thank you for sending that- what a beautiful song. Somewhere between Genesis and The Beatles in it's tone I felt. Lovely harmonic language, reminiscent of Gabriel's finest work. Cheers!
