Come on Ben, you are good enough to thin down 1/2 or 1/3 of the bucket. Just add a little water and stir the top so many inches.

Lol. Then the next day you make a video on just mixing the top of them bucket

No disrespect but how long are you going to spend on that tiny bathroom? 🤔

MKe sure youre not covering up the hold at the end of the tube handle! Thats where the air comes out to keep neutral pressure inside the empty part of the tube

So happy for you Ben! I love my Columbia set (even the flat) and have bought so many accessories now. It’s great to watch you as it helps refine my technique. Never thought I would be so into drywall until I started watching your channel. Thank you!

use that mud tube like a glaizer, i push up, flip it around half way, hit the top, pull down and spin done, shouldnt dig in then, half of its un aquare corners and the other halfs finding that sweet spot were all four wheels are touching evanly, its very fine on my one haha

Lesson#1....some jobs are meant to be done by hand....not auto tools

  • @olafbigandglad

Might be approaching the limit of "when is a job too small" for these tools.

    • @vancouvercarpenter

😂it was waaaaay too small. I just wanted to play with my new tools.

@@vancouvercarpenter I always wonder at what point the cleaning etc. takes more time than you save using them. I have no experience with them, to be honest. I just use small knives and a hawk and trowel.

@@olafbigandglad A regular full size room is big enough to warrant them. As soon as you have all four veritical and four horizontal corners of a room it makes sense. Ideally the room should be big enough to navigate while using the tools.

Man. I tape a lot. Mostly repairs and then sometimes full blown redoing apartments and you’ve made me realize how much harder I was making it on myself. Your video with the California patch has made patching a million times easier and getting some necessary tools to make it a little quicker has been a huge deal. Though I probably wouldn’t purchase something like this. Granted it seems to do a great job!

I find if you follow the applicator with the tube rather than pulling your pushing behind it .it puts an angle that allows the mud to flow. So don't start at the top or bottom start in the middle and follow it up or down works well

Excellent tool review of the Columbia Commando. Nothing like a real time user of the product to tell how good it is. Even if it's in a very small sized bathroom

I had the same issue with water coming off the handle with my Commando Set ... Learned the same way to not dip into the water bucket .. 🤣

hey bro! Andrew from St Catharine's ON...thanks for taking the time to do these videos, I have got a lot out of them over the past year or so....you and the DR!....I bought the Columbia full semi automatic taping set last year and just love it...going from pan and knife those flushers are a dream come true. I keep a wool corner roller handy to add a little mud before flushing again if it's a little thin or inconsistent. The other thing I love about it is it's expandable...the "One handle" you get with both commando set and full semi auto set can be paired up with the "Tomalock" adapter which holds the "Tomahawk wipe down knifes" i got a 24" knife...which id highly recommend....absolutely amazing for flatting larger areas. speaking of flatting maybe you could advice on a frustrating😒 issue iv got...a 10ft high seam old drywall meeting new that's on a roughly 10-15 degree angle which the home owner wants flat! re mounting the drywall isn't a option....someone else already taped and coated it...so it had this kind of lazy line. long and short is i ended up cutting the old mud and tape out to find that its actually not 2 angles! its three! the drywaller was about 2 inches short of the new drywall meeting the old so he added a piece of J mold with a little piece of drywall in it to fill the gap hence making 3 angles to a wall that's supposed to end up flat! i suggested putting a multi angle outside corner on it to give it a nice sharp line but the owner doesn't want a line he would like a gradual round if anything. lol any suggestions?

Personally I'm not a fan of the 4 wheel inside corner applicator's, I find them less forgiving then the 2 wheel ones specially if the angle is a bit off.

People wonder why a quote on a tape job for a closet is the same as a regular sized bedroom. It's because the closet takes more work and time as the large room.

Good video, there's better tools out there in terms of flushers ( CanAm) and applicator heads ( the grated ones are better as the tape rolls in easier due to the grooves it puts in the mud ) and level 5 corner roller is cheaper, runs smoothly and lasts better but the tube is fantastic imo

So the second roller tool presses the edge of the tape down so the flusher can cover up the edge of the tape?

    • @BodynHome
      @BodynHome 8 місяців тому

Yup the roller beds the tape for you. The flushers tool out the mud and coats at the same time. It’s awesome. I did corners by hand for 10 years ( Drywall is a small part of my scope) I finally sprung for the semi automatic set and wow! Game changer.

Can def relate to difficulties making vids in small bathrooms. I usually end up screwing a camera mount to the wall.
