I have to say, the best thing about your work is that you reuse EVERYTHING, you don't replace anything with new parts. Using the existing hardware keeps the age of the guitar, but takes just a couple of years off the damage. Great work.
these videos are great for running scales and arps on guitar no talking no annoying music and quite interesting how you bring these instruments back to life kudos \m/
El Maya was a cool guitar brand and they made some very nice own model guitars too like the EM series (1000-1100-1200-1300) until the factory in Kobe Japan was destroyed by an earthquake. Very "Daion" like. Truly an 80's gem, if you have one... keep it. (I didn't)
It's a Maya 🙂🙂🙂 I have a '75 Maya that looks exactly like a Gibson ES-175 and, according to people, just as good if not better... It doesn't surprise me that the Maya brand produced strat copies as well... Back then the Japanese guitar companies produced high-quality that original designs and copies of American classics that made Fender and Gibson very very nervous... Anyway...Great work as usual...
I had 1 project road Star2 Japan handcrap something like that . I like the design and quality the way they made the paddle arm fretboard . I left it in the dog house where I got pick up and go to jail. Special guitar project priceless made suppose to be mine.
Cordiales saludos.
your guitar seem all to be rare vintage guitars, also this El Maya..What I do with guitar restaurations, I put some wax onto the woodscrews and also some oil an metal screws..after 40 years they have deserved ;-) also, when you saw a new nut, dont forget to saw it into the direction of the tuners, downwards, so they dont get stuck.
Too bad you couldn't eradicate the stupid KISS shadow and shadows from the reflective tape on the fretboard and headstock. I found an Ibanez Artwood acoustic in the trash which I restored for my daughter. It had stickers all over the front which left the same sort of shadows but they all faded in time. Maybe these will, too.
I believe Maya guitars went out of business after the Kobe earthquake of 1995, I've only ever played one example and that was for all of about five minutes, but I recall it as being a nice guitar.
Bel lavoro!
Japanese made instruments are top Quality. Sometimes even better than americans. Don't know why indie japanese artists do this to his own country industry guitars. They would do the same to a USA Fender?
All the comments about keeping it original are not about what this man is doing . Did he buy it at the porn shop for twenty bucks , or pick it up at the salvation army or good will store . And then we have moaners that say he didn't do a luthier job on it , I just watch these for the before and after look and I don't expect it to turn into a 56 Gibson Les Paul's, settle down girls. 😂

You never show " set up"...pretty much anyone can clean a guitar but never see you check neck for relief, fret height, never state the action ect.... One can.make a $100 guitar play great and one can make a $5000 play like crap....its all set up... I do like vintage Japanese guitars but they also produced low end crap too...not every Japanese guitar is a gem.. I like my old stuff clean but as stated you can depreciate a vintage guitar by trying to "restore" it... I buy old stuff to practice repairs and set ups, I'm still learning...Luther's are artists...
Are you aware that collectors pay lots and lots of money for guitars that SHOW their age? Cleaning is one thing, but you need to be very careful. This job has cost you maybe a thousand dollars! Now it is not that great old Maya anymore! Why did you do it that thorough? Better leave it looking old, but clean and grease just the spots that need attention. These tuners for example, make them work again, but do not make them shine like new. Good thing is, this is one original Maya less, these untouched Maya's will one day be worth a million dollars, thanks to fanatic cleaners. Do you understand? You did a good job, now you can play this guitar, and it looks good. But really, it is a vintage guitar, it is pretty good quality, you really should not change the looks. It is simply not "just an old guitar".

Great videos! Absolutely love seeing these cool old instruments rise again. 🙂
Hello, very nice restoration, beautiful 70's CBS Strat repro., even sounds amazing. Bravo and see you next vidéo !
I thought for sure that you'd refinish the body, looks like it will always be the KISS guitar!😂

Some of those mid 70s Japanese guitars are very, very good indeed.
I, for one, don't think this is one of them. Absolutely hate how this one sounds...nice clean up job though!
I love your work and videos... Great attention to detail 😎👍
Once again another great job and sound 🎼🎸🎼 Happy New Years 🎉🎼🎸🎼
Thanks for the upload, I love watching these videos. Happy new year!
I'm amazed why it was not screened. I mean the inside. These guitars were used by bands who could not afford a Fender

This one doesn't look THAT bad. Still needed some care.
Cool videos man I have a 93 korean squire I'm about to revive
Maya even used 1954 Strat. On these strat copies in 1977.
I love how the KISS mark was still in the body
I’m no arborist, but that looks like a pine wood body. Right or wrong?
I thought you'd gone to far with this one.. But the more I looked at it reminded me of a Kimbara I've had from the 80s..

I like sss guitars, big head, wood pattern, white neck very much.^^
Going through that trouble and sticking those bar magnet pickups back in there.
amazing.
But the question remains! Are the frets level???And how much relief is there???

I wish you had taken the body down to bare wood and put a nice dark satin stain on it. The striping across the topside is pretty nice!
I cleaned my guitar as well the other day but I never had gloves on!
Ah como eu queria uma dessas 🤩🥺
I would guess that the strat copy was made in the same plant as the Ibanez roadstars...same bullet adjuster ...
If you put those screws in a electric drill and slightly thightened them you could easily remove the rust without any products
That brand was sold in Mexico. my first bass was an el maya

How can i get some of these old japanese guitars?
Amazing
Never heard of this brand, but I have a '79 Aria Pro II ST-600 that looks VERY similar 😁😁
It's probably Aria made.
@@jltrem Yes, Matsumoku made many brands of guitars..

I heard Seishun Complex!
It would be nice if you put the name of the songs you’re playing on the end 😅
