    Fossil fuels do not store solar energy. If they did, then energy would be given off during combustion when chemical bonds are broken. Instead, energy is given off when chemical bonds are formed. The thermal energy from burning things actually starts off as kinetic energy when two atoms snap together to form a molecule. It's kind of like when two magnets snap together. Uranium on the other hand stores tremendous potential energy inside its nucleus as does plutonium.

    when we can use solar energy, which is in abundance, why we need to waste coal. May our future generations can make much better use of this.
    Let their be light.

      Except it will take great big mines to produce all those solar panels and it is unreliable.

      It's all about physics and energy efficiency, as well as politics. Since modern nations are so reliable on coal, the investments on renewable resources aren't increased.

    Coal was formed when trees first evolved. There was nothing to decay them, no fungus, so over the millions of years it formed and turned into coal. Fungus eveolved and then decomposed all the trees on the surface, so no coal was formed anymore.

      So mass graves for example??? If so that would explain a whole lot. Holocust as just one small example.. not to mention Balkan region mass graves from WW2 era. Human sacrifice for the good of man kind?? Is this what they meant ? Fascinating will have to dig deeper.

    Did you know that Coal was formed from the large decayed trees and animal carcasses as a result of the worldwide flood in Noah's day, when God caused it to rain for forty days and forty nights? God used a strong wind to buried the trees and carcasses of man and beast in the earth under great pressure. Genesis 6:17,18
    Genesis 8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;
