The only person that stood up for her was the other woman, Shelby(?). She actually risked her safety because she knew she needed to do what's right. Props to her. Every single person failed Jessica. Even the system failed her.

What happens in places like this (cults) is that whenever someone with genuine morality comes in, they start "shaking the boat" aka like trying to speak up about things. At this point they are usually forced out of the gang because it just wouldn't work if they let in people with actual morals. (I've been in 2 cults in my life)

They had the state ‘investigate’ the crime and they ultimately got him off. There isn’t anything anyone with ‘integrity and courage’ can do in her case... @Faded Glory I know not all cops are corrupt. Many have been uprooted all ready so to speak. There's still a ways to go obviously. I really believe if there were a completely unrelated agency that investigated complaints against police instead of police complaints being investigated by officers on desk duty or those hired for the job who are placed in a different building it would make a tremendous impact. I think something like that should be established in every city despite it's size because small towns/cities seem to have even more police willing to lie and cover things up for one another, and the people in their lives.

This cop seemed like he was itching to put his hands on me during a welfare check and purposefully triggered my CPTSD (I have a long history with the cops in my town, and they're very aware of my PTSD in regards to cops seeing as they're the cause of it, and I sued them over it) in order to have an excuse to put his hands on me. He dislocated my shoulder. It's important to note that I had just relearned how to walk.
Couple months later, he was arrested for attempted murder on his fiancee.

No Offense, but your seeing things through a twisted lens bc of your own personal experience. The Officers in that town refused to fall for his ridiculous false accusations & take action against her when they knew it wasn't necessary. When he called the police on her numerous times, they told him his accusations were absurd. When he called them from Walmart, they also said he was absurd. A few times they didn't even respond, bc they knew his allegations were ridiculous. They did no such thing. Besides that, you know pieces of the story are missing when they tell you a woman can't see her family, can't see her friends.. yet is able to have an affair & get pregnant with someone else's child.

@@Mandy-nt2cs you can say no offense in front of anything and it’s still offensive lmao this comment has 0% tact. If their lens is twisted it’s bc of what cops have done, not because this person has a random vendetta. People who think cops are squeaky clean most of the time are ignoring historical trends and also see things through their own “twisted lens” of never being subject to an abusive cop/ government authority. The truth is cops absolutely have a higher rate of domestic violence, and that’s just what ends up getting reported and ignoring the situations where the victim/hopeful survivor couldn’t get through to the people literally responsible for their safety. Sadly actual rates of abuse are almost always bound to be higher than reported rates because of the risk the victim can face coming forward, being ignored, and then further attacked. I believe the main reason for exploring true crime stories is to learn about the behavior involved and the psychology behind it, in order to evolve as individuals, families, societies, jurors and all related professionals. I know that if anyone had educated me earlier in life, I wouldn't have made the choices that put me in the situations that destroyed my mental and physical health and ruined the lives of myself and my family. I asked everyone I knew to give me insight and perspective in my relationship problems and went to several different therapists, no one educated me. I didn't understand my situation. I was trying my best and that was my downfall. I didn't have resources like this then. Videos like these will make a real difference in so many lives. You do such a great job of providing fair, empathetic, well researched, and accurately interpreted case studies while also making these excellent introductory summaries of the psychological dynamics involved. Thank you to both of you. Sorry I can't afford to support regularly but I do everything I can to boost interaction, this is the best true crime show on UA-cam or tv.

The sheer number of cops who apparently had nothing better to do than gangstalk my family…for the sin of attempting to make a complaint (which they stonewalled).
There’s nothing more isolating and frightening than being targeted by criminal cops.

Imagine this: a very small, rural town. An RN, dating a sheriff's deputy. It doesn't work out because surprise surprise , he's a yelly SOB. She meets a Marine who's a sweetheart ! Except when he isn't. Nurse wakes him up in the middle of the night because she lost use of and feeling in both legs and fell out of bed trying to go to the bathroom. She wakes him up from the floor for help and he proceeds to call her a liar while kicking her. She manages to drag herself away, crying and telling him she isn't lying. Her single family who resides in another country gets a text message asking for help and a law enforcement welfare check is initiated.
      And guess who shows up.
      😊
Anyway, Come to find out, she has MS. Hence loss the use of her legs Said only family member is career military. Them and the Marine are brothers in law now. Because, well, she can't use her legs and now can't work. Where does she turn ? Not law enforcement. Not the military. Not anyone.
And they all lived happily ever after. Except the nurse.

Given how little self control the rotter has, I can see things going one of two ways for him:
1.) He disgusts the people he works with (not the Old Boy's Club his grandpa runs, the more average members of law enforcement) and they hang him out to dry in some situation. Maybe actual physical danger, maybe legal trouble, but I can see them reaching a point where they fall into a "not going to kill you but not going to save you" mindset.
2.) He very obviously does something illegal on a scale that his granddaddy can't cover it up. Yes, I know attempted murder is a very obvious legal crime, but I mean something that gets the attention of the feds. Since, very sadly, excessive violence doesn't seem to be a sufficient reason, I'd guess it would be some sort of tax or insurance fraud.
I do hope that whatever sticky end he comes to, it happens without dragging anyone else into harm's way.

The scariest thing about this case is how rare it is for a case about police corruption to actually be exposed to the public in this way. Still no charges of course. But it happens unfathomably often. Its too easy for cops to get away with anything. This is an uncomfortable truth, but truth nonetheless. An amazing job @dreading for bringing this to light. This kind of work is so incredibly important, so thank you. The internet is finally giving the people some power to affect cases like this. SO LET'S PUT SOME PRESSURE ON THIS CASE. Lets get him convicted, with enough pressure from the people we will get justice for the victims and society's future.

    He saw it all right in front of him- the power he'd hold over others;
inside & out of the police department.
His self-absorbtion & arrogance should've been picked up on by pre-employment psych evaluations- which he might not never "officially" took because of the nepotism involved.
