Thank you and your son for putting these video's together. Having a 10yr old myself and looking for which bat to recommend to Santa is a challenging task. Finding reviews on these drop 10 bats are hard to come by so your content is very much appreciated. Can't wait for the Atlas video and the overall rankings!
My son is 7 1/2 and he’s used this bat this past tournament season. He was only allowed to use USA for rec but his tournament and travel team games he used this bat and loved it. He couldn’t use it in the beginning of travel season cause of the weather. We live in Pittsburgh and the beginning travel season it’s still semi cold and it’s not good to use composite bats in under 60 degrees. He used the usssa cat x then used the icon the rest of the season. This bat has so much pop. He hit his first over the fence homerun with it. Highly recommend this bat to any young kid where there allowed to use usssa bats. Def worth the money.
You are correct. They do come with a warranty. And also I’m pretty sure you are correct about a 7 year old not being able to generate that kind of bat speed to crack or fracture the bat. Just to be safe though I don’t let him swing that bat in under 60 degrees. He swings the cat x one piece alloy in colder weather and batting practice. I guess that’s just me saying this bat cost over $400 after tax, don’t want to risk it.
That’s exactly what we have. My son is 4’4”. 29 inch is a hair too long for him but he swings it well. Covers the whole plate. I’m moving him up to a drop 8 for rec in the swing with a USA bat.
Everything I’ve read is the Icon is more end loaded among the major hot bats in USSSA. Matty knows what he’s talking about! Hype Fire, Tank, and Bonesbr all suppose to be nice and balanced.
MLB PLAYERS use heavy bats. Some times heavier bats are better it helps you get underneath the ball more line drives lead to Homeruns.Light bat hitting top of the ball leads to grounders which lead to ground outs. Great job hitting nice bat whip,on that heavy ended loaded bat. Nice job coach
My 7.5 yo had a great coach pitch season with this bat at 29 (-10). This is a big upgrade from the alloy Cat X he used last season. Bat swings balanced, he uses it in conjunction with the Velo Puck.
@chawk2251 not big at all, 53", 58 lbs. He swung a 27(-10) last year, so when his travel coach suggested a 29, I was skeptical. I was wrong, he hit with much more power and consistency than last year, obviously some of that is due to experience/growth.
@@chawk2251 he's roughly the same size as my son, I would say get the 29. You can always put a bat ring on it to shorten it an inch if he feels like it's too heavy/long.
Biggest message for parents. Stop falling for marketing hype. If you really want a bat, let another parent buy it then grab it from them after the season for half the price. My boys used a $30 Omaha and a free '14 Easton Mako when they were 10. One is playing in college the other getting ready for HS ball. Just Bats has great prices on solid bats. Secondary market is even better!
We bought my son’s orange meta used off eBay. It came from a southern state so I felt better that it wasn’t used in cold weather. It lasted him two and a half seasons. Very happy with the bat.
You're hitting a lot of ball opposite field which tells me youre swinging the bat a bit slower or you're starting too late. You might hit further if you get ahead of the ball just a little bit more.
@@joshottmann5656 he has a tendency to hit everything that way. His rear elbow gets slightly too far ahead of his hands causing his barrel to drag a bit and making it hard to release it unless he really tries to cheat and hit it way out front.

Lol at the 3:15 edit right after “maybe you’re just weak”
Just subscribed because of the 10 year old. Mine just turning 9. Keep the content focused on things his age, thanks

@fitter5423 I'm not sure a 7 yo can generate enough bat speed to crack a composite. Even so, they come with a one year warranty.

@fitter5423 we have a similar setup: Icon composite and Cat X alloy, both 29(-10).

@fitter5423 we played in a USA league for rec and it was awful. After playing USSSA, I don't think we could go back lol
I really think that USSSA is the one bat certification where composite bats can really perform up to their potential
usa vs ussa comparison would be interesting.
Nice video series...road to 90 version 2.0.
@@iandunstan2760 thanks! I got too old so the young gun had to pick up the slack
@AntonelliBaseball this one will be much more fun and fewer injuries

Breaking it in you probably right it needs more hits but like the world series swings. Do you know it he has a atlas bat on the list?
Can u do a Hype Fire vs Icon showdown?
Yup coming soon!
My understanding is that this bat could benefit from a significant break-in period, especially with a 10-yr old swinging it
Try the Atlas louvislugger
@@danNat978 video coming soon. Probably a few more days to get it up

Wtf. Found the pee doh.
