    *Hey guys update on the promo code* I thought it was good through July but it looks like it was actually June. I already reached out because I was hoping to extend a past July so hang tight I am confident we will get an extension here in the next day or two. I’ll ask him if he can keep the code the same so maybe just try over the weekend but either way I will announce here in the comments as well as my Instagram. Make sure you are there as well!

    Thanks Ryan you have explained these features and sliders better than even the original developers of APP. Even though I have used it for years I barely ever use the right hand side sliders.

    Thank you for this. I got APP as my first astro processor and found the controls to be very confusing and counterintuitive (whereas I found Pixinsight relatively straightforward). This is very helpful to get me to understand better how to use APP’s controls and should be very useful.

      Glad it helped. It took me a while to find my own flow with it as well and then I realized it’s easy to just do the tools on the left first then fine-tune on the right. I was trying to go back-and-forth, but then I realized that a lot of my adjustments would be wiped out when I did colorcalibration or background correction etc. So I figured it was better to just use the cleanup tools like we do in PI then go to the small touches.
      The tool does continue to get better so honestly, it just was more difficult to use a while ago so it’s actually fair criticism but I think the constant small improvements keep making it better and better

    This is great, Ryan! I've used APP for years to do mosaic stitching, as it does a fabulous job with that, but always been a bit intimated by learning a new UI for all the basic processing functions...but this is far more straightforward than expected. Appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate it! Also, have you ever tried running BlurX in PI first, on the L, R, G, and B masters, to get all those benefits, before bringing into APP to integrate? Just curious...

      The sharpening tool is really pretty solid and it has star reduction if you watch till the end, I show those features. But yeah, you could definitely do that. If you wanted, I always use at least two programs but do try to avoid three however I have sometimes HDR transform if there’s a core that’s a little bit too bright like I could’ve used in this one, but I wanted to try to do most of the heavy lifting just in app.
      It’s kind of an investment for folks to utilize multiple programs and I want to be as democratic as possible, but I feel like if you’re really into the hobby you’re going to end up getting them anyway so I’d rather just show people how to maximize the money spent and use all the features not just some of them

    Any chance of a PI guide that does something similar for the future? This is really good but I don't have APP :(

      @darkrangersinc  4 місяці тому +1

      @@michaeltelesco4764 there is tons of content on this for PI. if you check out my first full processing tutorial in 2024 I did it all in Pixinsight for folks that only work in there, but then made the vow that I was going to stick with what I actually do in real life going forward so that when people ask me questions behind the scenes I can answer honestly with what I actually do. I was showing processes that I don’t actually use and then people would ask me questions about them and I would have to say that’s not actually what I do. I was just showing it because people wanted to see it.
      So I would recommend checking out APP it’s free for 30 days. If you don’t think it’s worth it there’s no risk and you do get 15% off with my coupon code so it’s in my opinion much better than PI for this type of combination but it’s ultimately up to you. I decided at the beginning of the year to not going to make content on what I would consider less optimal way to do something.
      Sometimes the best thing to do to help the community is to push people outside of their comfort zone in the short term so they can get better in the long-term and that’s what I want to do

      @@darkrangersinc Got it. The trial sounds like a great idea thank you! I agree with everything you said. I've been stuck in my little PI bubble maybe its time to venture out to other AP processing software. I'll give it a go!

    Can a software like this be used to make HOO or SHO images from OSC cams while using QuadBand filters?

    • @darkrangersinc
      @darkrangersinc  4 місяці тому

      It’s really good at doing it with narrowband filters because if you watch some of my previous tutorials, you can extract the monochrome Ha, Oiii, and Sii if you have a set of narrow band filters that has all three channels. What it does is it extracts just those channels from the data leaving you with monochrome images that you can easily combine the way you would with an actual monochrome camera.
      The problem with the quad is, it’s not narrow enough to do SHO. it’s going to give you a look very similar to HOO in most cases because most of the time those are the two dominant colors because HA is red so is S2 and Oiii is blue. So HOO in most cases is just the actual nebula color. But for SHO you really want narrowband filters and both quad filters have wider bandpasses. The Antlia version are smaller at 25nm vs the Optolong which are even wider but 25 is tough to really separate the details for Hubble palette

    Hi. I’ve been trying to use the promo codes you’ve listed. The last one that should have been valid until the end of June said that the coupon code has expired on June 30. I’ve emailed support but didn’t get a reply. This one is saying “coupon usage limit has been reached”. Can you please advise on this. Thank you :)

    I used APP at the start of my astrophotography hobby and since I only had the renter's version it expired on me. I also had a very limited understanding of APP and the various functions in it, since all of us who start out are flooded with new things at once and all the information will make our heads spin around what to do and how and takes time to learn everything. As of now, I think one of the more powerful feature APP has is the mosaic feature, how it automatically can stitch up mosaics from the get go, unlike PI, which never had a good mosaic script to begin with and all of us depended on user-created scripts which broke in one version and then it got fixed and broke again, drove me nuts and ended up stop making mosaics altogether. I might just go ahead and-re buy APP, it is not cheap, but NOTHING is cheap in this hobby and as others say we spend thousands of dollars on hardware while we want to cheap out on the final tool which is essential and can't have an image without.

      I’m still waiting to hear back since it’s the weekend from the creator. I would wait until I can at least get the 15% off and save you a little bit. This is why I recommend to people who I work with one on one to really just pick one or two maybe three at most people to follow because what ends up happening is you just end up going down a bunch of different rabbit holes and getting overwhelmed with different ideas.
      Take a look at their coaching style and credibility in terms of what they know I’m just stick with them. That’s what helped me. I just picked a mentor and treated the rest as noise. It was tempting because I would see episodes come in, but I knew it would just distract me in the long run.
      Eventually, what happened was I learned everything from other people and then my future knowledge came from my own experimentation spending hours in the different processing software in this case was lucky enough to learn directly from the creator of the program himself.
