  • So there's this new Bot on Foxxy that plays very unlike the rest of its kind. It fights! Everything! How annoying....
    But its going to get 10d soon (maybe), so I thought we would take a look at its playing style of 'cut first and think later'!

    The bot, called Li Long, was announced on the Fox webpage as an older version of Fine Art. There's a link to the post and some translated details on the Life in 19x19 Forum (in the computer section).
    The deal is, it will play against any registered pro on Fox, at 60 minute time control.

      He said its policy and value network are built from scratch , with no bias to past game history database. Are you sure this one is the old version of Fine Art? Because Fine Art also incorporated game databases as far as i know...?

      I can only say what I know: there was an announcement on Fox, that said it was an older Fine Art. Since I don't read Chinese I'm reliant on Google Translate and help from people who do read Chinese.
      I don't know if I can post links here, but Google for "Li Long Fox".

      I just think its a bit too hyped up is all. Theres tons of amazing games being played by professionals that people arent really paying attention to right now because they arent AI and that does make me kinda mad.

      That makes so much more sense, thanks for clarifying! :)

    Come play RoyalLeela on OGS sometime. :)

      Does she play better than the desktop version? Cause I play her sometimes on there and my specs are pretty good....

    • @jRoy7
      @jRoy7 7 років тому

      Well in theory it's all the same of course depending on PC specs, but RoyalLeela is running a beta copy of 0.10 currently and is on a Ryzen 1700 + 1080 Ti so it is quite fast. I normally have it use 4 (out of 16) threads per game to spread cpu around if there are multiple opponents, but I could set it to use 8 or 12 when playing you if you want the best challenge possible. :) I'm roy7 on OGS and am on and off during most days and in the English chat.

    I have high doubts that the bot have had no "human data" in it. There is no way to follow a fuseki like this without having data to be taught upon.
    And there also no way that it had "re-invented" the fuseki for itself, because our modern fuseki is just a trend, that will obviously go away sometime in the future, much like other fusekis did. Either due do the rules adjustments (like when komi got added), or naturally (like how 90s fusekis are different from 2017 fusekis), it doesn't matter.
    The point is that the bot is playing our modern fuseki, the very modern one. There is no way it haven't seen modern games.

    how strong is 9dan amature if convert to pro level?

    • @dwyrin
      @dwyrin  7 років тому

      Well in this game the bot was playing a pro. Otherwise you shouldn't equate the 2. Amateur is amateur and pro is pro. An ama player might score a win vs a pro once in awhile, but that does not mean they would ever be able to be a professional.

      I think what he was trying to ask is, Do the dan numbers have a rough equivalent to the p numbers in some way? I have been wondering myself is there an overlap? For example 8D=1P, 9D=2P.

    this guys commentary is super annoying. "mr bot face" .. is about as annoying as he keeps labeling the bot.
