today I started out listening to the dead Kennedys and wound up here am I the only one that can see the punk rock outlaw country connection
Your not the only one and I don't even come from the punk world. I made that connection a few years back when I first got big into Hank3. If it weren't for Hank, I never would've found all the great music I enjoy today. There's a fine line were you can mix punk, country, metal, a little blues, and some bluegrass and come up with some damn good music that can stay true to each genre and still be awesome in another.

Kyle Jones You're not alone. There are a lot of old punk rockers who have taken to country. It makes sense. Both genre's have a fuck you attitude. Country just seems to be a bit less chaotic.
Just keeping country what country is suppose to be, he used to have a punk rock band called soilent green in the good ol grays harbor which he sings about in the songs "Joe ty the vampire" and "till the lights go out" it's great he remembers where he came from #aberdeenscumfuckkk

Great video, it really changed the way I view the song. When I first heard it, I kind of viewed it as a upbeat defiant anthem of one man's life. The video adds a much darker edge to the whole song.
