It’s a consolation that Huawei has a partnership with Google for their AI API, that will allow developers to use the NPU.
Huawei's EMUI has some good features that are missing on stock Android. But for enthusiasts like you a stock version would be cool indeed.

Anthony Turner Xiaomi made a 'Google Play' version of their Mi 5X phone, the MI A1. They're calling it the Android One phone, I think that's the new name of Google Play edition phones. :)
I will quit using Huawei if they does that.. It is their customized android what made them so stand out in the market so quickly and their dedication to please the customers. Go get yourself any common phone loaded with original cartonic android if u r android dude.

seriously, we get a phone that's water resistant but no headphone jack, or has a headphone jack but not water resistant, mind boggling.

Wasn't Sony the first to bring that to the table? The did waterproofing first before making water resistance a thing (to save themselves from the water damage warranty fees), not to mention pioneering giving water resistance to an exposed 3.5mm jack

glad that mate 10 still have the headphone jack, yeah, and front finger print scanner is good.
Look at all of these people that are complaining about the mate 10 pro. Just ignore it and think of the mate 10! It’s not like the forced you with no headphone jack and no sd card (both of which the mate 10 has). In my opinion, Huawei did a great job with the mate 10. At this very moment in time, 18:9 is not very well supported so that will be more of a compromise. From my experience, Huawei phones don’t lag as much as LG and Samsung further in the future. Also water resistance is only a “nice to have” and it is not mandatory. The only drawback is support for custom roms which is very lacking on Huawei’s side.

2017 has been a great year for tablets
I knew the Mate 10 series was going to be epic. The guys at Huawei did an excellent job designing the Mate 10 series. Another awesome phone is the Oppo R11 Plus.

You are the only reviewer who mentioned that the mate pro doesn't have a headphone jack, thumbs up and well done. I think I will not go with the pro version this time, i use the mate 9pro and am happy with it.
How about the spec for front camera?
The 4000 mAh is what attracts me most to the Mate line. The LG V30 would be perfect if it had that battery capacity.

When you do a full review, could you discuss the different video capture options, including slow motion? Most reviews do not mention the slow motion video capture capabilities--they just say that a phone has it. All flagship phones have a slow motion mode, so this is not helpful in making a purchase decision. I would like to know if a phone has 720p recording at 240 fps, or 1080p recording at 240 fps, or whether the phone maxes out at 720p at 120 fps. For me, 240 fps is actually an important feature, so it would be really helpful if reviewers could take literally 5 to 10 seconds to mention what the phone can do. Thank you.

Kinda happy I got a Mate 9 a few weeks back instead of waiting for the mate 10. Id rather keep my great battery life + a headphone jack. Losing such an important function for such a marginal performance gain doesn't seem worth it. Especially considering how cheap the mate 9 is at the moment!

Those camera mode that able to automatically detect scene/object/subject kinda similar with non-npu Xperia iA camera mode. Huawei execution and outcome perhaps much better but the way media compliment it so much as if they didn't handle Xperia phone before. Too bad though for Sony despite having best sensor but their software algorithm didn't produce pictures as good as their competitors.

I think they named the models wrong.
Think about it.
Mate 10 has quadHD display while mate10 pro has fullHD+.
Mate10 has a slightly smaller display(5.9") which makes it slightly easy to hold them.
Mate10 has the fps on a better position(front) compared to mate10 pro.
Mate10 has a 3.5mm jack while mate10 pro doesn't.
Mate10 has expandable storage (even though internals is only 64gb) while mate10 pro doesn't.
Mate10 display has a higher ppi of 499 compared to mate10 pro's ppi of 402.
Both have same battery.
The downside would only be IP67, 6gb ram(even though it doesn't require 6gb for multitasking considering emui light take on android) and oled favoring the mate10 pro.
Still I don't understand these polar differences in features between the phones.
Jaime.. you need to review Huwaei desktop mode on this... this is almost desktop replacement for sure if developed appropriately.

799 euro is 943.55 dollars for the 128gb pro model, however i am guessing it will be $799 or $899, about the lg v30 128gb $849 price.

I actually think the usage of a 1080p panel in a "pro" device is a smart choice. In my views a pro user would appreciate better battery life and performance more than a slightly better media consumption / viewing experience which doesn't have much of an effect on productivity
Mate 10 Pro = IP67 + OLED Display + Full Vision + IR Blaster
Mate 10 = Headphone Jack + SD Card Slot
For me the LG V30 has every thing a consumer needs with lighter weight and better water resistant and quad dac.
If you want the works people, just get the Mate 9 instead. That phone is a BEAST of a phone and has everything that the confusing 10 & 10 Pro don't. The Mate 9, Huawei got it all right.
I'm so confused.. is there also a Mate 10 lite? I've seen that one for €350! So what's the price of the Mate 10? I've heard the pro version is going to be €700?

The Huawei pro is awesome. I would get that one . It has an oled display AND an IR blaster. But I'm on Verizon and it will never come on to that network. Still holding on to my grandfathered unlimited data plan...

This might be in my top 5 for 2017. I kinda see why the Mate 10 pro has a hd+ while the 10 have a QHD. I wish they add ip67 or 68 on both. But I would get the 10 or the 10 pro
I had to play it back like 5 times to pick up all the "The Mate 10 has... which is non-existent on the Mate 10 Pro. But the Mate 10 Pro has... but the Mate 10 does not."

Really liked it, and the fact that Huawei is partnering up with Google for the AI API means that this NPU won’t be used only for the camera gimmicks, we might see interesting stuff coming next year.
Thank you for a good Review. Something to improve your mobile phone Reviews with is that it seems none of the other reviewers is taking into consideration is reception / antenna efficiancy. Not all mobile phone users live city or Town Lifes but actually live in the country side. This said, some of us country side dwellers live in locations where, well maybee there is 4G or lower grade reception but when one steps into ones home with 3 or 4-pane windows or metal roof the reception can be really poor if not even non-existing.
Long gone are the Days of external antennas on mobiles, they are built in which naturally is not helping connectivity.
Also noted is that many phones when in such location vary alot in antenna efficiency.
For example my iPhone 7 cant be used inside at all while my Samsung Note Edge works enough to share 4G internet if I put it on the window but will not work if I bring it in the room. The Note 8 however works flawlessly inside.
This has nothing to do with the protocoll of LTA this or something else that but primarily on antenna efficiancy.
Another interesting thing to know from mobile Reviews would be to know how fast the phone transfer from mobile data to Wifi and back. Many times one can experiance connectivity lagging when coming home or passing by a known wifi. I noticed my iPhone 7 is really Quick to transfer and even to connect to a Wifi is really fast. My Note Edge and Note 8 is really slow.

Water and dust resistance is crucial for making a decision. Probably, go for the Pro model.

These Phones look amazing! S/O to Google though for being the only Company to actually putting the same exact specs in their smaller model and their larger model devices do people who are fans of the smaller phones don’t have to pick the larger one just to get more features.

Infinit3Enigma That also includes Europe. I heard we don't get the Mate 10, only the Mate 10 Pro.
Luckily for me, I'm buying a new phone next year to replace my P9, but I can imagine why many people would be disappointed with these releases. None of the phones really scream "must buy" this year except the LG V30, but Huawei sports the very best (or consistent rather..) CPU for phones, as well as the very best and fastest Android skin.
I really hope next year, they wake up already. They can easily dominate the competition.

Muhammad Talish I believe so. Single OIS but dual f/1.6 lenses. Also using a new Leica SUMMILUX-H lenses.
