Grey Owl's Cabin in Saskachewan, Canada

- One of my favorite canoe trips is the 20km paddle across Kingsmere Lake to Grey Owls Cabin on Ajawaan Lake in Prince Albert National Park. This time my wife Caitlin joined me and I knew she would love all the wildlife this park has to offer. We only had about 30 hours to explore this time but we saw a lot of wildlife including 7 bears, 21elk, 19 deer, 4 bald eagles, 3 mink, 2 otters, 2 foxes, and much more. This park is literally a zoo without fences and the animals seem very calm and not too afraid of humans.
The Grey Owl Cabin is just far enough away from the town of Waskesiu to earn its seclusion yet within reach of a days paddle if you're committed. There are beautiful campsite on Kingsmere to spend the night if you wish.
Grey Owl wrote three best-selling books while he lived in this cabin which include Pilgrims of the wild (1934) Sajo and The Beaver People(1935) and tales of an Empty Cabin (1936). He lived here until his death in 1938 and is buried here at the cabin up on the hill.
If you're looking for a great adventure in Saskatchewan with incredible fishing, lots of wildlife, and a classic log cabin with a great history this is a wonderful trip.

Thanks for inviting us to rest on the porch and watch the wildlife. Serenity transmitted through your lens. "The raw material of experience transmuted into stories."

Looking forward to the next video!
A pleasant visit.
Thank you for sharing this video, the one thing that struck me was that I did not see any graffiti or anyone's name carved on the cabin. Did I just not see any or has this place been treated with respect?
No such vandalism to be seen. Completely pristine and well kept. It’s just far enough from easy access that those willing to put in the effort to get there have enough respect to not vandalize it. There is a guestbook to write your name if you wish to leave your mark.
Beautiful spot. Though the mosquitos must be insane!!!
Jeremy Portnoy not too bad this trip but they have been in the past.
We kayaked there too, in 2003.
Grey Owl, what a man
Is this my compatriot from England Archie Grey Owl?
Great video brother!! Trying to find a good book on Grey Owl....any suggestions? 😁🌲
Jimi Timbers on him or written by him? His wife wrote a good one about him called devil in Deerskins. I like men of the last frontier and tales of an empty cabin.
@@TrustinTimber looks like im making some Amazon purchases! 😁🌲 thanks for the suggestions!
Can I use some of your video as a still shot for my Facebook page? With credit of course. If not that's fine.
Hi, what were the backpacks at 0:48 if you could let me know that’d be great! Cause I’m looking for some good packs to use for backpacking that will make me feel like I’m traveling “back in time” if you know what I mean. Thanks!
