This guy didn't show that the signals are really coming from the HDMI converter.
You don't need to cut the video scene after connecting DB9 to HDMI converter.
You should show the entire cable until to the monitor.

You don't need it. This is technically not a cable, a converter. Use your own VGA to VGA cable on this device.

I got mine all plugged in and it works fine. My concern is there is no sound at all coming out of the laptop. I know the sound and volume work on the laptop without the HDMI plugged into it. The old monitor does not have built in speakers. The old monitor has shelf speakers that uses two plugs for the old desk top computer.
Any ideas on this?

You'll need headphones and then tap volume icon,then you change output to headphones
Probably that the laptop tries to output audio through the HDMI when there's no audio jack on the adapter, try changing your audio output on your laptop to your headphones or speaker plugged in your laptop!
VGA is a video signal, it doesn't include Audio. Some HDMI to VGA adapters also have an Aux plug for Audio signal.
I have the same adapter…can I plug the hdmi tail into my tv and run a vga from my pc to the adapter? I did this but the display isn’t showing up on my tv. I don’t know if it works in reverse of what you’re showing…thanks
it won't work , as hdmi is the input and vga is the output and you give input from pc and output to monitor , tv etc.

When I use this converter my 2nd monitor is not detected.
I can see the 2nd monitor settings in display settings but 2nd monitor is blank. I’m using Ubuntu 20.

My monitor is not connected with my laptop but on the other hand my tv is connected to my laptop.
My monitor, adaptor, and cable are fine they are connected to other laptops.
I changed the resolution and also updated the driver and even updated my windows 10 too win11.

hello, you lose sounds because your Operating System transfers the sound to the HDMI, in order to fix this find out how you can select your laptop's main sound output as default, good luck :)

Hi. A wind 10 pc connected to a 4k samsung tv with hdmi and no vga ports by an adapter. Been giving a no signal a long time and showing a signal again if i unplugged the adapter or shook the hdmi cord and finally showed nothing.
I suspect the adapter attatached to the pc and to an hdmi cable.
Advise plz.

There's an option on the laptop on what screen you want to project it on. Maybe it's set to laptop screen(monitor 1)?

What's the resolution of your laptop?
When I tried to do it. It keeps saying "Input Not Supported".
If you’re on console or pc, change the resolution to 720 or 480

Mine won't detect :( . tried to connect the VGA to a VGA capable laptop, it worked. Tried the HDMI adapter at the store where I bought it with their own VGA cord, it worked. Now, with my own VGA, my laptop can't detect using the two. is it wise to use the display port instead?

I just got this thinking I could hook up my computer(a NON laptop device)to my 32 onn. Roku TV.... so I put in the VGA cable INTO that adapter, then I put the adapter into the TV and then NOTHING would display on any of the HDMI inputs... I didn't understand what was going on, so I go online to find out why the adapter wasn't working. . I find your video and I see you put it into your laptop. . . NOT your TV. . . . Then that's when it hit me. . . . On the package it says "HDMI TO VGA"
......what I needed that I thought I was getting was a VGA TO HDMI. . . . . . I just face palmed SO hard. . . . LMAO!
