Once you unbolt those cam gears, the engine needs to be retimed. That includes setting #1 to TDC and bolting on the timing plate tools to the back of the head. Then setting everything up with belt on/tensioner activated, once set up torque the camshaft gears.
That is why JT emphasized the marks, on what he is doing. I noticed too that the sprocket has a keyway, so it only goes on one way. Line up the marks, and you are good to go.
@@jthonn I did follow up on research on this. His first video indicated this was a 2008 Charger with the 3.5. I looked up service procedure for 3.5 timing belt and they did not mention the special service procedure of the camshaft sprockets were unbolted. I also looked up 2007 and 2006, both those do list the special cam lock procedure to reestablish timing if the camshaft sprockets are unbolted. So with this 2008, you are correct. Looks just like a bolt on and go.
No worries man, that is good info for some folks, but JT always talks about timing and TDC when he is doing timing belts and such. Have a great day.@@mph5896
@mph5896 Okay key board warrior. Im sure the creator of the video has done 10x as many timing jobs you have. Theres a reason he is still employed and working on cars. Dont be that guy who tries to tell him how to do his job.
When I reuse a belt I mark the belt as well. This ensures that if the cams move slightly everything still is in time. Is it overkill? Maybe but it gives me piece of mind.
Dudes a beast, wish I can get him on my 2003 Chevy crank no start issue, OBD 2 is throwing code after code with 3 sensors and still a crank no start l, help😮
Hey brother I need your help 2009 ram 1500 ac compressor was locked up I replaced it with new one and new one does not want the clutch to engage enabled to see if there was a fuse or what to look for
another youtube mechanic, wrenching with kenny, did a similar diagnosis on a truck. junk yard engine that had been in accident and somehow that ring got damaged. he manually bent the ring with slots back into roughly circular shape, and that fixed it. (it was his own vehicle at this point)
What would u think if i have a p0340 and got a new sensor doesnt start didnt start witj the old sensor either died on me while i was driving and wont start jus cranks and cranks. Havent checked the gear like you did but mine wont even start. Also its a chrysler 300 3.5 v6 but its the same engine
Regards I changed the lifters and cam on 5.7 hemi do i have to change oil after 800 miles or just normal oil change interval ? I changed lifters and cam and cleaned the engine then i put 5w20 amsoil with their oil filter currently im 300 miles on the new lifters and cam
It really isn't hard to pop the cam sensor out and go in there with a screwdriver and see if the tone wheel is loose. But i guess that's too technical for the Auto Zone master technicians 😂😂😂
So embarrassing listen to your explanation of how something works when U not only give incorrect information U pretend to know what U R talking about. Let me teach U so U have it correct the Cam Sensor looks @ #1 cyl & tell the Crank Sensor where TDC is then it signals the timing for the Fuel Injection.
No sense telling me Mr Clown Man. I explain it the way I understand it or see it. If you want people to know how you understand it, simply whip out your phone and make a video and tell them on your channel. This the way I explain it over here on my channel..Go ahead, try it, you can garner the attention you seek over on ya channel..FOH
I give 2 shyts about channels BUT IC where your professional attitude is. Seriously a shame how U fail in many regards in attempts @ auto repair, I am sure your parts dept & writers laugh @ all the mistakes & cover ups U make.
@@StationRussification Well if you dont give 2 shits simply shut ya trap. Im not interesting in what you saying neither are any of my 170k subscribers. Good to see part two 👍
Why not replace belt since you are there
Great video Timing is essential
That's a new one on me. Will not forget this. Thanks!
Damn good video. Your explanation was on point. I'm going to continue with the camshaft fix. If that doesn't work, then I will do more. Thank you

@@mph5896- That was a very good response and explanation. You made me re-think that one too. Excellent job.

Chevy full size truck?
I really appreciate it man
Man that is a long bolt. Nice video JT, I wish you could work on mine.
Whats up my guy..Yea that was crazy long, glad I didn't have to lift up on the engine
My 3.5l luckily hasnt blown timing but alternator went and it was quivk
Any idea how a hole in a piece of metal goes bad?

I would have replaced that tyming belt and water pump while its disassembled to extend the life of the engine
@imfloridano5448 No you wouldnt, you would ask the customer and get the work approved first. You must be a rookie, lol what an idiot.
