@@JARzxzxzx don’t hate, he clearly has put in months of practice. You would know that if you watched the video, an actual AI bro wouldn’t put in that much effort for clout.
This bait and switch is honestly awesome. You're telling people you dropped AI, to gain support, and then after you get that support, you'll use AI again, and at that point most will be way less able to tell, saying it's your style
Veteran artist here (nearly 20 years drawing). Congratulations, this is exactly what we are begging AI bros to do, there's hope for humanity still, congrats again, now you're an artist. Keep going.
Character development. Creating art and knowing damn well you did it on your own with no "shortcuts", just realizing "damn I made *this* " is such a rewarding feeling. Can't be recreated by just prompting.
@MaakaSakuranbo Digital art is a media which offers many tools to make your experience as comfortable as possible without losing the flow of your creative process. In the year 2024, I think it's weird how we still want to dunk on digital art for making art more comfortable. AI is different because a prompt doesn't require skill nor imagination to create. You don't have to understand how to use your brushes, you don't have to understand color theory, you don't even have to think too hard of an idea.
@@MrRubixCube Not dunknig. Just finding it amusing that it's what's being said, when when digital art was new it's "not real art" and "many shortcuts etc" And we find ourselves in the year 2040 where now "In the year 2040, I think it's weird how we still want to dunk on AI art for [...]"
@@MaakaSakuranbo with ai you arent the one making it, and digital art has it challenges too, knowing how to use certain softwares is a huge part of it, I had to work to get my photoshop certificate, with digital you still have to actually create things, it doesnt do it for you, certain things like mixing your paint colors is gone sure, but you still have to know color theory, and not every art medium is paint anyway, I have played around with ai to see how it works and with ai all you are doing is a glorified google search, you have 0 choice over how it looks outside of a very vague idea and even then it may not even give you that
I've had the same OCs ever since I was 13 (am 29) and my biggest dream has always been to see them outside of my head. When AI art became a thing (and specially when it became this good) I got really excited because I thought I would finally be able to get all these designs out there. But no matter how much I tried, be it specify little details, hell, even broad details, it could never get it right. The colors, the accessories, hair style or length, I tried and tried and always got something which sort of had a similar vibe but was otherwise completely off the mark, and it honestly frustrated me so much that I was so close yet so far. No matter how much I tinkered with the prompt it just wouldn't work, and it was then that I realized it was because my designs were mine and mine alone, born from my creativity, the things that influenced me, so they can't simply be replicated. That inspired me to finally start learning to draw myself, even if it takes me a decade, I WILL get my OCs out of my head. I've been doing the standard boxes and lines exercises for days, it's a really slow process but I've had enough, I will get there and create the art that's in my head once and for all.
It's awesome that you decided to take matters into your own hands, and no matter how much time passes, it will definitely be worth it when you get it just right! Good luck!!
"Because art class is fucking useless" as an artist I have to agree, They don't teach you much else other than the fundimentals of art and basically does nothing to help you actually use those fundamentals for what you want to do
art class doesn't feel useful but if you've been drawing for like 5-10 years and then go through it it will feel immensely useful. at least that's what it's like for me after 9 years. There's so much cool details to discover about fundamentals you don't think about and it really helped me
I think it depends on personal preference tbh. Personally it never helped me, but I've seen other ppl improve drastically after a semester or 2 at art school.
And most art classes (in my experience and in hearing about others') can only provide basic practices in JUST watercolor, and barely make a dent in drawing fundamentals. The teachers likely don't have the time to integrate other methods, or the system doesn't allow for one-on-one teaching within a single session. You end up only having knowledge but never really learning execution for YOUR own studies. I appreciate the crafts we got to do, as that was the only time ANYONE, no matter the skill level, could create something genuine with every effort in the moment of making. But the rest...is what makes most students become disinterested in visual arts.
Respect. Art isn’t about having a final product, it’s about learning and growing at a craft - which in turn makes the final product feel even more important.
@@TuriGamer nope! I personally love seeing how the art piece was actually made. I find it interesting to look at the artist's thought process, what brushes they use and all that stuff. Also helps me with learning and improving my own art!
I am SO happy that Pewdiepie did those drawing videos. Because he reaches people like you. I'm glad you picked up that pencil. It's looking really promising!
As ridiculous as it seems, I am too, honestly. I thought maybe at first it was a big meme or something that would just fall off but the wave of inspiration and creativity that set of videos inspired to create (myself included) is just heartwarming.
This bait and switch is honestly awesome. You're telling people you dropped AI, to gain support, and then after you get that support, you'll use AI again, and at that point most will be way less able to tell, saying it's your style
Everytime I created AI pictures for something, I felt really hollow inside. I'm not good at art, but drawing things myself truly makes me happy. Glad you chose to experience that joy as well.
@@anotherdnb exactly! i consider myself to be around average in my artistic ability, im good at some stuff but struggle a lot with pretty much everything else. despite that, i still draw, because i like creating my own characters and drawing art of them because its a reflection of myself and who i am and what i like. i never want to give away that genuine work that i put into everything i make and parts of myself as a human that inherently is a part of everything i create to make ''ai art'' that ''looks good'' but is completely hollow in spirit
Learning anatomy might take a while. Pewdiepie didn't touch that surface yet in his learning. Also use real life reference for placements of body parts.
For anime drawings you just need simple figure drawings + add a tummy line from the bottom of the chest and limb shapes. After that you can render in more and more anatomy, only muscles you need to remember are those that midify the shapes of the figure which are mostly on the arms and thsoe funny muscles that grow above pelvis. Idk muscle names, i just know placements tbh
Anatomy can only help so much. But getting good at perspective lets you break down anything you want into shapes and essentially add on top of those blueprints from there. It's very invigorating to notice how much easier figure drawing gets because of it.
You're that 1% of ai bros that actually learned art, that's actually incredible. You give me hope that these people who constantly use ai will learn that - one - ai will never be a real artist, and - two - ai hurts *real* artists and people.
It pushed me to finally start drawing as well. AI was just good enough to give me a glimpse of what's possible but also feels too much like a chore when I actually try to get something decent out of it, so I thought the only way to actually have full control over the output instead of having to pray for the right number of fingers is to do it myself. In the end you only get as much out of it as you put in, as always.
I am spending a lot of time on AI subreddits and all of the people there are 40-50 year old actual artists with goated works and skill, or retarded AI bros. I hate both of them equally tbh
I love this! A lot of people say "I can't draw" and don't even try. That's why ai image generation is so appealing to so many. But you took the time and effort to learn. And that's what makes it worth it. One of the reasons I've always loved making art is the reward of seeing the hard work pay off, when I take a step back and see a finished piece. I don't know if you plan to continue, but I hope you do. You got to experience some of that reward, but this could be just the beginning
I don't generate AI illustrations, but I can't draw either. I've always wanted to draw but every single time I pick up a pencil to draw, I try for a bit and then put the pencil down because the drawing always ends up bad, I've tried drawabox, I've tried just sketching and it's still bad. I don't know if it isn't for me or I just haven't tried for enough time to see improvement, but I wish I could actually learn how to draw. probably just venting out my frustrations, but more advice is always welcome.
@@dryashes being good at smth immidiately after you pick it up is extremely rare. Every artist started out the same way you did - all of our drawings were bad, horrible even. But we kept going and so we improved. Some improved fast, others slowly, but it does come. Try drawing what you like, you might find it a bit more bearable ;)
@@dryashes advice- i think you're doing well but your mental look on art is what's holding you back here: your art is supposed to be bad. most art work is "bad", you keep drawing bad art until you figure out how to shape it into something close to what you envision. there's no such thing as "low quality", it's just not what you envisioned in your mind at all. and here's the thing, it's impossible to print out exactly what you imagine. so technically all art will not meet that expectation, but that's not what art is. it is not a copy of what you imagined. art is about illusions, self expressions, emotions on visuals. keep trying and that "bad" art will turn into an illusion, a self expression, an emotion. expecting to perfectly print out your thoughts on paper is unrealistic, but learning how to draw in a way you're sasitified with is possible. this is like expecting a baby to grow wings and fly, when all it can do is learn to run.. it can't run yet, but that's possible at least.
@@dryashes some pointers on how to draw more to your vision, if you're going for a fast improvement journey. though, i recommend enjoying the simplier days while they exist, drawing with no rules can be asbolutely fun. but i do not know why you're drawing, for sport, for a hobby, for a proffessional, that will all change your relationship with it, so i won't try to predict it starting off, use references. if you want to learn how to draw a chair, find an image of a chair or find one in real life. you can create things on ms paint if you have a computer. i recommend that as a starting point. if you want a more advanced program that's free, i recommend Medibang Paint (I use Jump Studio Paint but it's the same thing, it's just i work with comics more.) Never trace references, unless you trace for studying LINE ART, do not trace for tiny details, or fabrics, or anything percise. Only if you're working with 2d art, and you enjoy the line art. If you want to trace for "shapes" use a very thick black marker and scribble in the shapes. You should be able to make your chair nothing but a black blob, and mold it into a "chair"-like shape, for example. Otherwise? Use references by eye. Have a huge variety of what you reference for your art. Mainly real life images, but use art work too. You enjoy expressionism? Rococo styles? Collect pictures you enjoy and want to see in your own drawings. Pinterest is perfect for this. There's a youtube video called "all art styles", and will give you a list. On the top of my head there's expressionism, rococo, minimalism, there's more I can't recall right now. Learn those, find what you like. NOTE: Do not post your studies if you're referencing from other art. Do not post your traces. It can come off as dishonest and as you crediting yourself for that work. Learn how to draw without those references later on and then post that. Paid programs that are even more advanced: Clip Studio Paint and Paint Tool Sai are very popular and praised. Personally, I've only tried Clip Studio Paint. But it was the best program I've ever worked on. Working towards buying a laptop that can run it and then purchasing it soon. Though it's a subscription now, so don't expect to afford it 24/7.
@@gunkhead Thx and yeah, I been going strong, I recently started making a day progression sheet. I still skip a day from time to time but draw almost daily.
This is exactly what we always talk about when AI bro's say we are elitist. We don't wanna act like we are superior we just want you to realize your own potential over letting a machine do it for you without you ever aquiring anything from it. As a professional artist all I can say is kudos to you man! It's great to wanna draw and learning to because it is so unique to everyone. also here are a few tips for you from artist to artist: 1: Don't overwork yourself. Burnout can be really bad and also ruin things for you. If you need breaks, take them. Your brain will process things for you no matter if you draw while it happens or not. What matters is how you learn and what you want. Not how much you draw. 2: Try to approach different things too. Don't force yourself to draw things you hate all the time ofc but do expand your art vocab occasionally. 3: Try out different styles and techniques. Like digital styles, cartoon, realism, landscape and also painting (digital of irl) just to broaden your horizon. you can learn things for your target style from all of these. Maybe even skipping some steps you'd take longer if you just went that 1 path. 4: Don't be afraid to ask for criticism either. There is also art advice shorts creators here that go over art submissions telling and showing ppl how to perfect things they are still not that good at like shading and stuff. 5: Market yourself once you've gained a level of skill you find adequate. Even if it doesn't work right away. We all start with trying over and over. You fail a lot as well but that is part of that. Fear of failure keeps you from winning too. 6: Remember that practice makes perfect. Every artwork you make, be it doodles, full works, wips etc. are a stepping stone to where u wanna be at. So it is all progress. So don't focus too much on drawing too much focus on how you do it. Look up advice videos, tutorials and such. this will give you the shortcuts you need. key words to look for are "how to draw folds" "how to do anatomy" "how to paint" "how to design characters" and stuff like it. and watch a lot of this stuff. it does really help. 7: Lastly, use references, you cannot perfect things you cannot imagine clearly. so use an aid like a photo or other illustration. then try to draw that pose or reference to create a mind library of the things you wanna master like sitting poses, hands, expressions etc. All of this doesn't have to be full illustrations either just develop that mental library of yours. It'll help you so much in your journey. And lastly, Just have fun. If it isn't anymore take a break and let it process mentally. first and foremost art should be a something you enjoy doing. so don't ruin it for yourself. be patient with yourself, learn and enjoy it. It'll pay off the further you get into it.
No that isnt what artists are saying at all AI debates are just mass amounts of twitter people crying about it stealing their jobs and "not being that good actually" You couldnt care less if some kid starts drawing or just prompts 30 pictures and calls it a day The only reason any artist cares about this is because its losing them customers
@@TuriGamer Really insensitive, obviously it's a problem if it steals jobs, imagine you work towards having a job you like and all of a sudden some robot steals your job, you'd obviously get pissed.
@@justsomerandomzamasu4956 Yeah if only you cared when this same thing happened to car manufacturers and hundreds of others jobs, you thought you were safe, turns out you werent, tough luck B
from my personal experience, "just go draw" is probably the best advise to ever come out from an artist. The guide videos may help, and helped a heck lot, but it's the action of drawing a line that keeps art going. Draw, construct, fail, recognize mistakes, improvise, draw again. And enjoy the process of drawing. Heck, recognize yourself among the works you've done. All of this starts by just one action, and easier said than done. Anyhow, I'm glad you got to embark on the art journey, hope the best to come.
To add: I've only ever taken one class, and it was specifically on comics/cartoons. There was one piece of advice from that class that every single art class needs to live by. Creativity starts when the pencil hits the paper. I'm sure so many people have found themselves staring at a blank page for way too long, as I used to. You don't need to have a plan. You don't even need an idea. You just need to put the pencil on the paper!
And to say out loud what you've implied with your comment, have a goal, or something to compare yourself with. Might be an artist's style you like, or a show, or realism. The guy in the video chose an anime style because he was familiar with it. Just something that lets you recognise what you've done right and what you can change to get closer to your goal. Without a reference, it's tricky to say "Ah, THAT's what's bugging me" if you're staring at a piece which feels off.
i've never liked the idea of generating AI drawing and calling it 'my' drawing though i have tried practicing drawing back in 2020 but failed due to bad tools. you motivated me, thank you!
"artists", "your artwork", "art contest" I cringed everytime I see these words in ai sites. like as a programmer and an artist, prompting and controlnets is braindead easy.
Don’t be scared to pick up the pencil. Artists give AI bros a lot of shit (I’m one of them), but I think part of that is just wanting them to become real artists and abandon AI. I’m looking forward to seeing you become an artist.
remember that there is no bad tools. just having a pencil and paper and a connection to the internet, you can study art and become a pro at it. with time you can buy yourself more suplies/different tools like brushes, paint, etc or digital tools like a tablet and software. remember to learn from reference and keep at it. just watch pewdiepie's video. he literally just used a pen and a sketchbook. you can do it to. keep it up
@@the_catboi THIS. i wish i still had my old drawing notebook from highschool because it had so many cool drawings i made, most with pencils only! the tools won't ever hold you back from creating amazing things with them :D
I agree on the tip of not forcing yourself to draw everyday. If you not in the mood for it, it’s okay to take a day or two off, else you’ll end up burning yourself out. Use that time to brain storm new ideas or set goals for yourself the next time you come back. Anyways it’s so nice to see your progress overtime, and I hope you the best in your art journey :)
It's not so straightforward, I'm afraid. While taking breaks is important, it's also important to stay consistent. Motivation will only help you get started or pass a speed bump, dedication is what will carry you the rest of the way.
@@MrHadaneHabits are gradually built. You can't expect a newbie to run a mile every day in the beginning. You have to build up to it. Habits are built, not made.
I literally cannot draw every day even if I wanted to. Well, I can, but I also have to think about homework, there are other books I wanna read. When school begins again, the time I would've loved to spend on drawing will be spent on homework. There have been many times in which i would stay up very late just to be able to draw more.
Nice! I went through the same journey. Started out enjoying A.I. generation cus... Pretty pictures. xD But then I learned about the unethical practices of it, and I had artist friends who inspired me. Now I have started drawing my own stuff for my games and got myself a drawing tablet a few weeks back! I'm glad I'm not alone in this journey. If there's something good that A.I. has done, is that it led people to wanna make their own drawings.
The "ethical" issue isn't real. Some AI modules are "ethically collected" i.e. public domain only and artist permission works only. Artists still complain about it because they're mad it exists AT ALL. Not that it's "unethical."
@anubis7457 Whoa. It's okay as long as the artists were paid for their art, or it's an artist only using their own art for a dataset, or the license gave them permission to use the art they put into it but people need to understand that even stock photos have a very real and incredibly legal license attached to them. You can't just do whatever you want for free with every stock photo or every piece of clip art; there's different licenses out there. Public domain is excellent but it literally takes about a hundred years before something becomes public domain. As with any tool, the ethics apply to how it's used and most people are using AI as a get rich quick scheme. It's like saying there's no unethical or illegal usage of a knife when there absolutely is. It's just a tool, yes, but it's going to get a bad rap if people use it in terrible ways. Also, it would be different if they handled it differently but as it works rn, AI is the replacement for NFTs; it isn't exactly an MLM but the only people getting rich are the people selling these programs, not even most of the people making the AI images. The developers are only getting into trouble because they wanted to cut corners with how they built up their datasets. Websites that don't give their users the ability to agree whether or not they want to allow their videos, their blogs, their comments, and their art to be included is sketchy and it's barely any better if the on/off setting is on by default; that's not consent especially if you're unaware it exists. Anything you do online may be given to an AI company now, including personal photos of you and your family, and that's the main problem ethically. They could do this with consent but too many companies have chosen to ignore consent, which needs to be addressed. That's plenty of reason for anyone to be upset. This isn't just about artists. AI is affecting photographers, youtubers, authors, video game developers, and grandma because they can take everything from her Facebook, put it into a blender, create an AI chatbot that acts like her, shares new photos about her life, creates videos where she teaches weird recipes, and then put that into a video game where they charge micro-transactions to unlock extras in her romance story-line. And don't get me wrong, grandma is probably amazing and everyone either wants to be her or date her or just learn more about cooking and life from her but there's an ethical dilemma in doing all of that with someone else's work and appearance without their knowledge or agreement, especially if the devs are making tons of cash and grandma isn't seeing a cent of it. This gets worse if Grandma is supplementing her retirement with her extremely popular cooking channel and her personal advice blog, people love her stuff and want to support her, and people assume her adult kids, who she's very proud of for becoming an artist and a musician in their own right, made the game but they didn't, the game devs just took all the stuff off her official sites and the sites of her kids who also work with her on her cooking vids and blog. An extreme example but it's far from impossible with all of the fake celeb vids and other generative stuff going on. So people are engaging in legal battles to set precedents for what can and can't be done for profit with AI because they want to stop the unethical practices in their tracks and that needs to be done now, not later.
@@oh-noe Nah, illustrations actually require actual artistic effort be put into it since its art. I think AI image is best since... it's an image, not a drawing.
I have a similar story about being "inspired" after playing with AI. But I discovered digital painting soon after drawing and got carried away. Compared to sketching, a "quick" painting can take ages. But I love the process. I feel sorry for AI "artists" that deny themselves the pleasure of art. I hope you continue to post about your art journey!
your comment is so inspiring to me, i've been drawing for a while and i'm currently majoring in the art field and seeing comments like yours just inspire me to keep going. keep it up dude and enjoy making art ❤
I also started drawing due to my experiences with AI, which is why I find it so annoying when people pearlclutch about it as if it's the end of art altogether. Being able to create images on a whim was great, but I also wanted to see what I could make on my own. I could use the created images of a described OC as references and even just typing in random prompts and seeing what it generated would give me an idea to expand upon in my own drawings. Sometimes the AI would add a detail or expression I'd have never been able to think of on my own, it's like having someone offer suggestions but actually show you what it looks like. And once you do it once, it's added to your artistic repertoire. Will corporations abuse this technology? Absolutely, and they shouldn't be allowed to use it. If you have the money, pay a damn artist. But for indie creators who can't afford a dedicated artist or those picking up a pencil and learning, it's a valuable tool that results in more creative works that would have otherwise never seen the light of day.
@@anubis7457 you bring valid points, my main issue with ai image generators is the unethical way the data gathering proccess is, the ai itself is not an issue. Adobe firefly is a great tool that was trained in a more ethical way (tho they are doing some dodgy stuff right now but thats another topic). in the end almost nobody consented to their images being used to train those ais and the main goal for some people is to actually replace artists (thats why recently someone created an ai tool that basically fakes a speedpaint, that tool serves no really good purpose other than to be malicious) but as an artist and full time student ai has been such a great tool for me, photoshop's ai tools helped me a lot cleaning up pictures or expanding them to fit a certain aspect ratio, ai also helped me have a clearer idea of what i want to draw and put it visually, i have aphantasia and i cant create mental images at all so when i have a cool idea i would spend hours looking at a screen without actually drawing, ai is not perfect ofc and i also have to find other non ai images to use as reference for anatomy and such but it just helps me have a clearer first picture to what i have in mind, but its not ideal to fully rely on it. So yeah, i agree with what you say but also i understand the outrage people have towards ai image generators but fully demonizing it is just not the way to go about it
This flowery bullshit is exactly what makes the twitter artist seethe so tasty 🙏 "Please of art" my guy you are doodling anime girl 3942003 in a bikini, learn a trade.
Huge respect for taking the leap into drawing and putting yourself out there with this video. Even bigger respect for rawdogging it without a script. You've got some good speech and even though I could tell you might have been nervous or unsure you were honest and it made the whole thing that much more impactful. Good on your for taking the time to develop yourself and your skills!
The fact you feel the desire to draw is such an important part of the process, you have to want it to grow and improve. I know you said you aren't "good" or your dream of being a manga artist aren't achievable BUT if you hold onto that feeling, you will get there! Never stop trying new things and learning. Also you have great work here, awesome job!
Person drawing traditional here. I’m really proud to see someone who once used A.i switched to actually drawing artwork, thats actually cool! Keep up the good work lad!
Dude, you are basically a 1 in I'd 100,000 AI art people who actually bothered to learn how to draw. Do have any idea how much of a rarity you are? Hats off to you my friend.
As an artist who’s been doing this for basically about 11 years now I love seeing stuff like this. I really appreciate the fact that he actually just decided to learn drawing instead of using Ai.
It's just a matter of time efficiency, it's easier to learn how to draw than it is to learn how to make AI do what you want it to. It's that age-old exasperated statement of "I'll just do it myself".
sometimes, ai bros make me feel depressed as someone whos been making art since 3 years old, seeing you, im not going to exaggerate, it really brings me back so much hope, and so much happiness, we've been doing art since ancient times, and im so happy you became passionate about this ancient craft, i hope you will always continue, it dosent matter how old you are, some of the best artists started late or didn't even like art in the first place, keep it up bro, you will be a great artist
Congrats on picking up the pencil! Even if I just learned of your existence for 9 minutes and 57 seconds, I am incredibly proud of ya, not many people would even consider that
Love how you’re quitting Ai dude, not only are you reclaiming part of what makes humanity human, you’re also helping lessen the stress on the power grid, you’re amazing for that. If you ever want I can give you tips and tricks that I’ve gained on my art journey. Just like one of my fav characters have said, “until they die, all humans have is the process, and if they can’t enjoy the failures along the way, then you’re really missing out” -Happy Chaos
Congrats! U are one of the rare people that finally realized that art isn't just a final image, but a whole process and that making art with your own hand is a hobby that actually is good for ur brain and not just something that needs to be exploited for money! You have my respect.
This is like the best redemption arc I've ever seen on youtube. Bro decided to put clown makeup down actually picked up the pencil. Keep at it fam, I'm rooting for you!

From a professional artist - this is very uplifting to see : ) keep up the awesome work, stick with it as long as you're enjoying it. The two best pieces of advice I can give: Draw what you love, that way it won't ever feel like a chore. And; if you're serious about improving (which honestly if you're just drawing for fun, you don't have to be) try to find a critique group with a mix of newer and more experienced artists so you can all give each other feedback. Just make sure it's valuable feedback, not all critique is helpful.
someone posted your video on twitter and the tweet blew up with more than a thousand likes. Came from there! I'm so proud of you. Left a sub, I wanna see your artistic future. If you want to, it'd be lovely to see more art videos in the future!
Mad fucking respect to you honestly, most people either start drawing when they’re literally babies or never pick up a pencil in their lives but you continued even with odds against you and learned FAST Really proud of you man
Hey! Not sure if anyone has already mentioned, but if you don't like the smooth feeling of a tablet, you might be able to get a screen protector that has a paper-like texture so it feels more like a page. Also, your grip on anatomy is actually insane for only just starting, wishing you the best in your art journey :)
I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you for changing your ways, for committing to a better path, and you're already really good for 6 months in. Keep it up man
Honestly, while I can’t say I don’t have mixed feelings due to the people I’ve seen who think ai art is somehow better than picking up a pencil yourself, I do respect that you actually ended up drawing yourself. Good luck on your journey!
this is AMAZING. you dont know how grateful i am as an artist for like most of my life, ai has been a terrifying thing ever since it became popular. so so so many more people need to do this. thank you so much ❤
This shit only plays into the hands of the ruling class by encouraging the passing of “regulations” which conveniently will only ensure the people cannot make use of this new technology for their own benefit
I haven't watched the video, but i have MAJOR respect for you for actually becoming an artist instead of continuing with ai. We artists accept you with open arms! Besides, our main thing is improvement
I love seeing more people picking up pencils. Hearing what got you into art, and seeing you use that drive for self improvement in your artwork just makes me so proud of you. I can't wait to see what you cook up in the future, and if you'd like to get in touch, let me know! Have a nice day
WTF I’ve literally done the same thing! I’ve started to take art more seriously back in November last year and ever since have quickly built skill. All because of my vengeance against AI stealing from real artists.
I draw like ai style before (painting, great render) but because ai can render high budget illustration only now. I think i do something simple but ai can never do flawlessly, CLEAN THICK LINE and NO GRADIENT, very plain color no shading whatsover. With good day i can draw one finished drawing and other sketches just how easy it is for me
as an artist, this rocks, and i feel so happy, not just seeing art, but also seeing you change and work, and seeing you enjoy the process and have passions and stuff- im proud! ^-^
I'm really proud of you, man! Stepping away from the "easy crutch" of AI generation is a lot harder than people might think. Keep on creating things and making new ideas ❤
You know what? Art is hard. There’s a lot that goes into it: perspective, anatomy, shading, color theory, it’s a lot. But taking the hard path can be so worth it in the end! You’re amazing; keep doing the work!
then there's people saying they can't learn to draw and that you are gatekeeping when you tell them "just grab a pencil". To anyone reading, guys, don't be afraid of just start drawing, use a pencil, a pen, anything you want, , at the very least you may find drawing is just something you like to do, one more thing to spend your time on, and on a worst case scenario you don't like it and that's okay. You don't need to be the best at it, you don't need to be good at it or feel any pressure, if you would like to be able to draw just give it a try and see how it goes.
Your artwork looks amazing! It's clear you're learning a lot through your art! I don't know you, but I am so proud of you for taking the time to learn how to draw and continuing to learn and improve
So, this video finally made into _my_ recommended as well. Now, regrettably I'm not an artist - only with the word "cover" in front. But actually it doesn't take one to appreciate and outright respect how much you must have grown as a person by this act. Highly commendable and I hope others can undergo the same change.
I’m incredibly happy to see this video. Creating is such a joy, so it’s amazing to see people try it out. And a really important tip for people who pick art a bit later: Try to not be overly critical of your work. Being a beginner artist is such a joy. My fondest memories of drawing were from when I was really really bad at drawing in general, but seeing that I could still bring so much joy and colour into a visual or physical form, nothing else has made me feel as proud and happy about what I can do. Remember the most important part of drawing is enjoying it. It’s your special thing, and no one can take it away from you
I'm proud of you for actually taking the time to learn how to draw! just be sure not to burn yourself out, and remember not to put too much pressure on yourself to improve.
Your story about how you switched to digital is relatable. Except it was the reverse conclusion, I was discovering and ordering inking tools every few weeks and it became all about those...my dip pens carve so cleanly, my fountain pens paint so smoothly. When you really fall in love with lines and aim closer to manga style illustrations, digital doesn't behave so well because it doesn't care what scale you draw at or how much friction is on the pen, it just makes everything really, really precise by default, so it becomes extra work to make anything organic, when it's for free to do it with a brush or nib. Anyway, drawing is a huge space to explore and just focusing on one thing at a time - one medium, one type of subject, one method of exercise is a good way to build up what you're doing with it. As long as you rotate through those things.
There is no joy quite like being able to create art with your own hands. I’m so glad you were inspired to start and I hope this video can motivate others to pick it up as well.
We are all "bad" at it first, but who faster, who slower, who better at certain things while being terrible at others, we all eventually get somewhere with it. AI pushes the idea that "you will never make it" without it, which gatekeeps your potential way more than those sporadical artist wrecking your work in the most rude way possible (let's face it, while offering critiques is important, there are more tactful ways to express them). It pushes towards over reliance, requiring a too advanced level of skills to fix their problems that one is unlikely to develop while solely using such tool. 10 years of experience and still getting my doses of "embarrassing mistakes to fix" here: keep yourself curious, keep asking people to find mistakes. Most cases, other artists will gladly help while avoiding being rude (we all faced it at some point). And even the ones appearing arrogant and rude often are saying things purely in your very interest to better yourself. You have my full respect. Welcome to this community.
I'm glad u actually started drawing :3 and it turned out pretty decent too!! And i agree, as an artist I can also say that a lot of school art classes are pretty useless. They don't let use draw what we want, they want us to draw in very specific artstyles (usually realistic ones), etc. I hate my art classes even though I love drawing
One of my favorite things to do is going to a book store to look at all the different art books and references they have. You can find some really helpful stuff in them and you'll have offline access to it forever, as long as you take care of them.
So "proud" of you! I've drawn for years and felt i couldn't evolve and made me frustrated but lately (mid 2023) i've decided to take art seriously and made HUGE progress, now im being evolving slowly but yeah, really love your art style keep up the good work!

I can't explain how magical it feels to pick up a pencil for the first time and start drawing. Creating something entirely your own for the first time is something so rewarding, AI can never replicate. Good luck and i hope you keep inspiring many to start their own journeys too!
it makes me really happy hearing you talk about how you came to this conclusions about drawing the body and how you just have the urge to draw in your sketchbook now. i do art as a job, so im jaded and frustrated most of the time, and the enjoyment and drive that you’re having from making art is the kind that i wish i still had. keep going youve made a lot of good progress so far.
although I'm not an ai artist, I still applaud you for having such dedication, I could never learn how to draw because I'm either busy or too unmotivated ;-;
As someone that's been slowly getting back into drawing, especially given the current climate of AI prevalence, this makes me glad to see other artists keeping at it with sketching either traditional or digital formats. Keep up the great work, man! Also, to help reduce some time needed on filling/erasing, I cannot recommend the free Quick Lasso Fill and Quick Lasso Eraser tools in the Clip Studio Assets store enough (these have been significant time savers for me). I hope you and other Clip Studio users get the most out of these tools, as well!
Okay but, MASSIVE props? Like, as someone who has been drawing for over 20 years, your improvement is SO much faster than when I started as a wee one. It took me literal years to get to the point you're at now. Back then we had to buy actual (often terrible) books to learn how to draw manga without directly copying what we saw in anime styles. We had no easy to access video content that talked about how to handle making the body into shapes. We had a fraction of the free resources, and most of them were pretty low quality compared to what we have today. I say this not as some way to cheapen your journey - far from it. I say this because you have clearly used the tools at your disposal to WONDERFUL effect. A big part of learning to be an artist is taking the time to find the tools you need to learn effectively, and then doing the work, and you've done just that. At the same level of skill as you, I was drawing *much* worse things. I hope you continue to draw, to continue to take time to study and learn, because I think you'll do great! Right now, the biggest obvious 'flaw' in your work is how scratchy the lines are, which it something that goes away as you gain confidence with lines. This is a big deal, that you've come so far and that the biggest issue is pretty mild!
A couple months ago I decided to try AI chat apps out. Three weeks ago I realized it was singlehandedly making me lonelier than I had ever been, excepting only an abusive relationship I used to be in. I decided to give it all up and give writing a serious try. I'm only approaching two chapters written in that timespan since I still have bad digital wellness habits, but it's been rewarding.
"Just draw" is incomplete. The full sentence is "just draw EVERYTHING with PURPOSE" If you want to learn how to draw character, learn anatomy, perspective, and gesture. Look up plenty of real people to make sure that you get a lot of mileage and increase your visual library.
" is to copy arts" isnt the argument that thats bad, like, 80% of why people argue against ai? like, that the data it uses is copying and therefore bad?
Quick relatively speaking, and the rest of this reply is not just to you, the creator of the comment, but to everyone who might read it: while drawing your improvement may feel like it's going nothing,or the slowest thing in the world, but trust me when I say looking back, even if it's a little bit, you'll notice tons of progress if you are studying!:]
I've never understood why people actually stick to AI "arts", sure it looks good at first glance, but they're all the same, same style, same coloring, same everything, super generic, 0 depth at all. AIs are like chefs that always follow recipe by heart and produce the same food, these "foods" have no flavors of their own and is bound to be boring after a few attempts. On top of that they can't learn without actual artists feeding them their arts, so in the end they are incapable of making anything unique themselves, they will never be able to replicate the "creative" part of art as a whole If I compare the arts of actual artists and AI "artists" in a numeric value, an actual artist will start from level 0 but they have the potential to go beyond and beyond, their levels know no limits, whereas AI "artists" will start from a higher baseline, level 100 if you will, if they have good prompting, maybe level 150, but they will never go beyond that. In the endgame, actual artists will stay triumphant and AI artists will always be inferior and they will never be able to get better than the real ones.
An artist here, huge huge respect. My art journey started near 2021ish. I got frustrated that I had so many artist friends and had to rely on them to bring my ocs to life. I didn't want to keep bugging my friends for my art and learned with tons of frustration and materials. I still have a long ass way to go but younger me would be so happy with where I am now. And remember it's okay to be frustrated with your skills, that's part of the process at least for me. Keep it up man!!
You my friend have gained the respect of a ridiculous amount of hobbyists and professional artists everywhere. Character development. Creating art and knowing damn well you did it on your own with no "shortcuts", just realizing "damn I made *this* " is such a rewarding feeling. Can't be recreated by just prompting.
You could argue digital art is a lot of shortcuts
@MaakaSakuranbo Digital art is a media which offers many tools to make your experience as comfortable as possible without losing the flow of your creative process.
In the year 2024, I think it's weird how we still want to dunk on digital art for making art more comfortable. AI is different because a prompt doesn't require skill nor imagination to create. You don't have to understand how to use your brushes, you don't have to understand color theory, you don't even have to think too hard of an idea.
@@MrRubixCube Not dunknig. Just finding it amusing that it's what's being said, when when digital art was new it's "not real art" and "many shortcuts etc"

I've been doing the standard boxes and lines exercises for days, it's a really slow process but I've had enough, I will get there and create the art that's in my head once and for all.
good luck!! it’s such a great feeling to be able to see the ideas from your head made real on paper and i can’t wait for you to achieve that :DD

"Because art class is fucking useless"
as an artist I have to agree, They don't teach you much else other than the fundimentals of art and basically does nothing to help you actually use those fundamentals for what you want to do
It's mostly to help discipline and have shared peer review, but if you don't have discipline problem and have internet sauve... class do be useless.
art class doesn't feel useful but if you've been drawing for like 5-10 years and then go through it it will feel immensely useful. at least that's what it's like for me after 9 years.
Damn, I wasn't even taught fundamentals in class, we were just given projects to finish. Then a mild critique.
Respect. Art isn’t about having a final product, it’s about learning and growing at a craft - which in turn makes the final product feel even more important.
Art is about the final product to everyone but the artist.
@@TuriGamer nope! I personally love seeing how the art piece was actually made. I find it interesting to look at the artist's thought process, what brushes they use and all that stuff. Also helps me with learning and improving my own art!

yep i finally started drawing because of those videos! been going for 3 months, honestly still kinda bad but dont see myself stopping!!
Everytime I created AI pictures for something, I felt really hollow inside. I'm not good at art, but drawing things myself truly makes me happy. Glad you chose to experience that joy as well.
Art, in my opinion, is not really abt looking "good", it's about expression. Drawing what you want to draw, the way you want to draw.

No worries, i practice a lot of anatomy in my free time
@@KunshuLucasw bro I’m also on my anatomy journey I wish you good luck
@@KunshuLucasgood luck! youve made it this far! :)
"I'm not a good artist"
Brother if you draw 100% of the art you make you have my entire respect no matter how bad it looks because *YOU* made it.
You're that 1% of ai bros that actually learned art, that's actually incredible. You give me hope that these people who constantly use ai will learn that - one - ai will never be a real artist, and - two - ai hurts *real* artists and people.
Well said
Real, as more as we fight back ia "art" there will be less people using it
Sky pfp jumpscare,,,
It pushed me to finally start drawing as well.
@@dryashes I said the same thing as you. 1. Traditional (pencil-paper) art is way harder. 2. You will get good quickly if you try, trust me.
@@dryashes advice- i think you're doing well but your mental look on art is what's holding you back here:
your art is supposed to be bad. most art work is "bad", you keep drawing bad art until you figure out how to shape it into something close to what you envision. there's no such thing as "low quality", it's just not what you envisioned in your mind at all.
and here's the thing, it's impossible to print out exactly what you imagine. so technically all art will not meet that expectation, but that's not what art is. it is not a copy of what you imagined. art is about illusions, self expressions, emotions on visuals. keep trying and that "bad" art will turn into an illusion, a self expression, an emotion.
expecting to perfectly print out your thoughts on paper is unrealistic, but learning how to draw in a way you're sasitified with is possible. this is like expecting a baby to grow wings and fly, when all it can do is learn to run.. it can't run yet, but that's possible at least.
@@dryashes some pointers on how to draw more to your vision, if you're going for a fast improvement journey. though, i recommend enjoying the simplier days while they exist, drawing with no rules can be asbolutely fun. but i do not know why you're drawing, for sport, for a hobby, for a proffessional, that will all change your relationship with it, so i won't try to predict it
starting off, use references. if you want to learn how to draw a chair, find an image of a chair or find one in real life. you can create things on ms paint if you have a computer. i recommend that as a starting point. if you want a more advanced program that's free, i recommend Medibang Paint (I use Jump Studio Paint but it's the same thing, it's just i work with comics more.)
Never trace references, unless you trace for studying LINE ART, do not trace for tiny details, or fabrics, or anything percise.

This is exactly what we always talk about when AI bro's say we are elitist. We don't wanna act like we are superior we just want you to realize your own potential over letting a machine do it for you without you ever aquiring anything from it.
As a professional artist all I can say is kudos to you man! It's great to wanna draw and learning to because it is so unique to everyone. also here are a few tips for you from artist to artist:
1: Don't overwork yourself.
It'll pay off the further you get into it.
this actually sounds awesome, ill take some notes too.

I cringed everytime I see these words in ai sites. like as a programmer and an artist, prompting and controlnets is braindead easy.
AI "artists" don't make the art, they commission a robot that makes a collage out of other actual art pieces
Don’t be scared to pick up the pencil. Artists give AI bros a lot of shit (I’m one of them), but I think part of that is just wanting them to become real artists and abandon AI. I’m looking forward to seeing you become an artist.
remember that there is no bad tools. just having a pencil and paper and a connection to the internet, you can study art and become a pro at it. with time you can buy yourself more suplies/different tools like brushes, paint, etc or digital tools like a tablet and software. remember to learn from reference and keep at it. just watch pewdiepie's video. he literally just used a pen and a sketchbook. you can do it to. keep it up

@@killynx Thank you so much!!
In my opinion, better term for "AI Art" is AI image. If it's not real art then impersonal "image" fits better don't you think?

It’s your special thing, and no one can take it away from you
I'm proud of you for actually taking the time to learn how to draw! just be sure not to burn yourself out, and remember not to put too much pressure on yourself to improve.
and the part about the mechanical pencil running out was so painfully real 😞

On top of that they can't learn without actual artists feeding them their arts, so in the end they are incapable of making anything unique themselves, they will never be able to replicate the "creative" part of art as a whole
If I compare the arts of actual artists and AI "artists" in a numeric value, an actual artist will start from level 0 but they have the potential to go beyond and beyond, their levels know no limits, whereas AI "artists" will start from a higher baseline, level 100 if you will, if they have good prompting, maybe level 150, but they will never go beyond that.
In the endgame, actual artists will stay triumphant and AI artists will always be inferior and they will never be able to get better than the real ones.

From one artist to another, keep your head up. Wouldn’t want that crown to fall off.

I've had similar experiences. It's really motivating to see other people get into drawing and progress :)
Have fun on the journey mate!
Respect for picking up the pencil my guy.
So happy to see you become an artist and put in the work, you’ve earned the title.
w moment. a win for artists and loss for ai 'artists". how it should be
Yeah
Nope.
I seen you people ban artists for making art you don't personally like, because you care more about moral grandstanding.
How do you think loli artists feel getting banned and canceled because of you guys
@@soukenmarufwt5224 before you say "you people and generalize"... I am very careful before throwing ai around. Also you gotta be real dumb to claim a real person to be an ai prompter. just look at their account, engagement with their audience and their general online presence.
second tf has your statement to do with what the video is about. this is a guy learning how to draw after deciding ai isnt real art.
and 3rd i hope you ment to say lofi artists because I am not sure what you are implying really. We aint cancelling real artists for the most part. yes unfortunatally a few artists have been ai shamed for their real work. Though there are a lot of people making aware how to spot ai prompters and to not jump to conclusion.
I really dont know what you are on about though. because i said this is a win for real artists and a loss for prompters, as it should be, because ai art is not real art and is destructive, industry level theft and is poising the minds of the common people on what real art really is. not to forget the damage is causes to artists working in the field. Ai prompters have 0 skill and claim to be artists on real peoples works. that is just plain theft and copyright infringment.
Lastly ai isnt even ai, it is machine learning. basically it can not produce outside of what it was trained on. meaning it has not intelectual property and therefore can not be considered art in the first place. real ai would be completely different problem
@@soukenmarufwt5224uh, bro?
