  • How do they dock a 1000' er ? This video shows the Indiana Harbor backing up the harbor from Rice's Point up to the Midwest Energy dock in Superior. A lot of things going on to get this ship safely moored.

    Great video, Paul! There are walleye fishermen here on the Fox river in Green Bay that can't even tie up at the boat ramps. Keep the videos comin'!

    Very interesting.Some people can't put a 14 ft car between 2 white lines at a supermarket! Great to see what happens after the bridge has closed and the boat has disappeared into the harbour complex🚢

      I am one of those poor parkers. I am usually centered, but not always straight. It helps to take a look before walking away.

    Wow, those Laker's do it all themselves, amazing.

      Well they have bow thrusters and rear thrusters, that is what those propeller symbols on the sides of the vessel mean.

    thanks Paul, interesting to see how they tie up and the differences than the Navy. Questions: bow thrusters, twin screws, & rudders, chaffing gear for the Manila lines, hotel/pier services? Great editing job!!!

    • @PaulScinocca
      @PaulScinocca  6 років тому

      Yes on the bow thrusters, yes on twin screws, rudders. It does not look like they are using chaffing gear on the lines. As for the Pier services, these ships are usually at the dock for 8-12 hours depending on the load size, as far as I am aware there are none of those services.

    Nice video, thank you. It looks as if they make the bow fast completely before going aft to moor the stern - is that right? Also looks as if they are using wires for mooring, not ropes?

    Woah, isn't there another way to tie the ship without having to transfer people to the dock? What happens if the cable or rope breaks and the person fell into the polluted water? That's scary but I guess that's what they get paid big bucks for, I assume.

    • @PaulScinocca
      @PaulScinocca  3 роки тому

      The water is not that polluted that a person falling in will get I'll. It is on the otherhand cold...that's the bad part. I think most of the Lakers all "dock themselves" may be a liability issue ?
